There's the thing though....... any guitarist that spends time playing for other bands as a session player has the skills to show all of us what it's all about. I would imagine someone like Steve Lukather has plenty to say but he's a different person than AT, and is not so outgoing, but is an amazing legend. Anyone I've seen who has been asked to play sessions is an amazing player and musician. It's a road to take.

This episode of Guitar Villains convinced me that Andy is not just a master guitar player, but also a master teacher. From my interviews of many teachers about their favorite teachers, great teachers #1) Show excitement for their subject and about teaching #2) Let their students know through their teaching that they genuinely care about helping their students and #3) Have great knowledge about their subject. Andy: all three elements of great teachers are clearly part of who he is.

Rad, I had no idea this was coming! I've known Andy a long, long time (I'll be clear, we don't hang out at family barbeques or anything, we just happen to know some of the same people). Literally the most down-to-earth, 'non-famous' famous person to ever grace the stage. He actually took the time to respond to a hand-written letter I wrote. He has the TONE, the chops, and the songwriting skills that set the man apart. Even though as he states, 'managed to fame and fortune', he is definitely one of the best people to emulate and learn from, musically and as a person. We can all learn something from this wonderful musician. Musician vs guitar player. I'm a player, he's a musician.
Taylor....you have the chops for sure.....it's the SONGWRITING that sets everyone else apart. You have amazing chops in your videos when you put on that mad face.
Music theory is a thing, and I'll regret not learning more as a kid till the day I die, because at this point I'm too old to be anything more than a footnote on a song. Do it, and do it now.

Another guy who has come (if he wasn't already) down to earth. I saw him in Toronto back in the mid 2000's and it was a great show at Massey Hall, a smaller venue. The only thing that pissed me was the fact he was into the violin thing at that point and had some violin player do the intro....... For The Love of God was prefaced by violin. Not my thing - quite disappointed. You don't build a legendary song on tone and virtuosity and then switch instruments that just dull/bore it down into obscurity. It made the opening of the song boring AF imho.
