Heyo! Mitch and Day here 👋🏼
We’re just your typical American-Colombian couple determined to live every second of our precious time here on earth to the fullest. After a 10-month solo backpacking trip through South America, I (Mitch) stopped in Cali, Colombia to take salsa dancing classes 💃🏻. I only planned to stay for a couple weeks, but God had other plans for me. I met a cute Colombian girl (Day) in class, those couple weeks turned into a couple years, and before we knew it...we were married 👰🏻🤵🏼
Now we’re traveling the world full time as digital nomads, supporting ourselves by working online 👨💻👩💻
Our goal with these videos is to inspire you to step outside your comfort zone, give you an inside peek at our crazy imperfect lives, and show you that you don’t have to be rich to live an extraordinary life...all you need to do is make the choice!

I have been a huge google flights fan and have saved thousands of dollars over the past 5 years travelling the world (74 countries, 6 continents so far) but even I learned a couple of useful hacks - great video - thanks! For those who haven't used google flights - you are OVERPAYING!!!!!
Hey Brian, that’s so awesome! Hope you find some great deals on country #75! 😎
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
I have used them for perhaps 10 yrs or more. I can see the calendar & prices for 9 months at a time.
So where do you find cheaper deals?
Is this still working? I don't think this trick works anymore. It seems that all airlines will assume any round trip from USA is considered a trip by USA customers no matter if you are making the purchase from outside of USA.
I’ve used Google flights many times and I didn’t know you could search by continent or for specific dates with no destination in mind! You’ve saved me a ton of time. Thanks :)
You bet! Happy flight hunting! 😎
Long time traveler been using third parties all these times never had any issue so far but it’s always good learning about new ways and save money in the process. I’ll give this a try on my next flight! Thank you for sharing! Subbed! Keep’em coming! 😎⭐️👏
You got it…more videos coming right up!
I have been using Skyscanner for years, which offers the same options, but others like specifying a country and not a specific departure airport
But I will be able to compare my research with these 2 tools.
What I like about Google Flight is the interactive map.
Thank you
You're very welcome! Yes, Skyscanner is a good tool as well, I just like some of the extra features Google Maps has. But both can help find cheap flights!
Thank you. I'm a pilot for FedEx and I didn't know any of this. Cargo aviation is so different from commercial.
You’re very welcome! :-)
I've been accustomed to using Google Flights, Skyscanner, and the like for years now...but I still learned quite a few things from your video. Many thanks.
Hope to hit 100 countries soon, hoping this video helps save me more money :D
Cheers!
That's so awesome!! Good luck on your journey, that's a huge milestone! ✈️
Love the Miller Lite can in the background!
Haha I hide cans in a bunch of our videos 😂 sometimes I need liquid courage to get over my shyness to make videos 🍻
I had no idea about google flights! And yes, I'm always flexible but it takes so long to fill in all the details on other search engines! Thanks!
You’re very welcome! Happy flight hunting! 😇
Love the video. Thank you for the info. It would be really great if google flights also included south west airlines. But I guess south west has all this features in their website themselves.
Yes that is very true, I forgot to mention that!
Although there is a lot of functionality in this Google Flights it doesn't always give the lowest prices. It may give you what you want but you still need to look on all sites and hunt around. I tested it the last few days as I was looking for an international flight.
Nice, what did you find works the best?
I’ve been teaching this on my facebook live for years. That’s how I’ve been traveling for years. Now I already know how much certain places cost before I even search. One place that’s always cheap from Chicago is Rome always in th 400-500 range
That’s a great tip!!
Thank you mate, very useful
From this video I came to know without destination flight cost can be checked.. Superb
All great advises!!! Than you so much!
I didn't know you can input multiple sources and keep it open ended. Thanks a lot for the tips! Can use this in planning the next leisure vacation
Hey Jim, you’re very welcome - I hope they come in handy! ✈️
Thank you so much for your good information 👍
Great tips . We are leaving to Ecuador. Can’t wait to book with these suggestions on booking .
How exciting! Hope you have an amazing trip!
Wow cool looking forward to seeing more tips
I’m not sure if you’ve mentioned this in your video, but it’s important to browse on private mode because then the browsing history remembers your history and it causes your prices to rise.
Some airline websites are now even tracking IP address along with MAC address, so private browsing may not help!
@@garvs1401 dang
That is absolute BS !! Prices rise and fall throughout the week.. I see prices rise on Fridays and drop again on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Every airline has different algorithms.
thank you, very useful 🙏
Thanks buddy very productive video good info!
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!
Great video! Great Google Flights tricks! Thanks
Hey great info, have been playing around with Google flights. Is there any way to 1) specify stops for each leg (including 0) on Google or any other search engine? 2) specify duration for each leg to get longer duration on an overnight connection for example to maximize free stopover without having 2 separate tickets. I realize these are advanced requirements. thanks
I thought google flights has a filter for number of stops, doesn’t it? And for the long layovers check out airwander!
@@ProjectUntethered number of stops applies to all the flights in your itinerary I think. I want to apply different stop restrictions to different flights in my itinerary , some non stop, some 1 stop etc.
Ahh I see. I’m not by my computer now to check, but have you checked to see if you can do it with ITA Matrix?
@@ProjectUntethered yes god darn it your hunch was right - on ITA you can do it with following extension code on any leg : "MAXSTOPS n MAXSTOPS 2 Set a limit on the number of stops on this portion of the trip."
Nice! I’m gonna have to make an ITA matrix video one of these days 🤓
Thank you. I just bought my tickets to travel to Costa Rica 🇨🇷. Each ticket cost $80. I save more than $450.
Holy smokes that is a great deal, nice work!
Really useful, thank you
I use always google flights, now I learned more, thanks!
You’re welcome! :-)
excellent video !!! incredible useful
Super thank you!👍

Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing all these tips! Great content!
You're very welcome!
Great information thank you
Wow what a difference.
I wanted one way and open to different days or months .
Goggle showed each month and the prices where hundreds lower than the regular " cheap" flight sites
.who I had to enter each day over and over again.
thanks !
You’re very welcome! Happy flying! ✈️✈️
Thx
Very useful 👌 👍
Very helpful video dude! It really helped me a lot. Thank you very much, God bless you guys!
You’re very welcome! Happy flight hunting!
Good Information. Thank You

I exclusively use google flights but still learned a few things from this video! thank you
It’s a super handy tool, that’s for sure! ✈️
Thank you for this information!
You’re very welcome!
What tools do you use to project on-screen recording and narration video, side-by-side?
Wow congrats man on your channel going viral! You really boosted up in subscribers! Not too long ago you had 2k now you have over 18k!! Nice work🎉

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️great vid!!
Your advice is fantastic, I'm in YUL prices are high here, I either got to Toronto or go to a close US airport like Burlington to save.
Thanks for sharing
Great tips! Thanks!
You bet! 😎
Thank you for your time and posting. Interesting. I was farting around on Google Flights and hit the 'Bags' - Carry-on bag button. All prices doubled and some tripled when I put ONE carry-on bag. Very interesting. Thanks again.
if only i had known this earlier this week... i spent hours looking through pretty much all the countries in europe and comparing the prices. it would have been so much easier to just type europe in the search!!
Now the next time you search for flights, it’ll be a breeze 😎
thank you!!!!!!!
Should I expect tickets to arrive in the mail? Or via a ticket number on my receipt? If so, should I print out my receipt and take it with me to the airport and give it to the ticket tacker or what? What should I expect and what should I do?
You should get an email with your ticket info! A lot of airlines also have phone apps you can download and check your info. Some budget airlines ask you to print your tickets, but it's usually not necessary if you have the email/app. At the check in counter, they'll be able to find your ticket by using your passport number (if you're traveling internationally). Hope this helps!
Is it possible to see the calendar view of prices if you're doing multicity? doesn't seem to work for me.
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing the great tools, I've been looking for vacation tickets recently and tickets are way expensive than 3 years ago. BTW 紀律 discipline, nice tattoos. Hope oneday you'll visit Taiwan where there are great food and sceneries, also people use complicated characters.
I hope we can visit soon as well! (And thanks for verifying that my tattoo doesn't mean buttface 🤣)
Thank you Sir
Awesome video, thanks. Been traveling a lot recently and I just learned stuff from this video
You’re very welcome. Hope it helps you find some good deals 🤑
For me, the matrix of ItaSoftware is still the best. Even if Google flights use it as base, you can mix more destinations/dates/other commands options. It works very well and now they even have a new interface.
I’ll have to do some tinkering with that as well!
How do you book it??
I’m about to make another video that shows how! But essentially you have to do it manually. I heard about bookwithmatrix.com that could be helpful, but still need to test it out
Mjjjj
Nooooooo
I travel 3 to 4 times per year, different cities in different countries, no matter how many times i check google flights, momondo and skyscanner, skyscanner comes out on top every time, no exceptions, i can open 3 windows, same destination same dates and check, skyscanner cheapest, choose different city, same dates, again skyscanner comes out on top
Excellent !!!!
🤗🤗🤗
Okay..this new to me feature is cool
Great, but checking with momondo doesn't always mean cheapest, I have exactly the same flight on both momondo and skyscanner and it is the scyscanner one that is cheaper
I always use Google flights and then book directly with the airline. Momondo may appear to be slightly cheaper but I’m not sure if it includes taxes. Google flights includes the taxes.
Great video
Good tips! Third party ticket agencies have burned me over the years. I search Google, and then I buy my tickets directly from the airline.
That’s a wise choice!
well explained
thank you good information
You bet!
Muito bom !
Super EXPLANATION PERFECT show
Only I have to say: GRACIAS!!! GRACIAS!!!! GRACIAS!!!! Por favor, sube el video en Español. Felicidades!!!
I’ll ask my wife if she can add subtitles!
this helped me book my senior trip! Thanks broski :)
You bet, have fun!
thank you my brother
This is great information, thank you for sharing!
You bet! Happy deal hunting :-)
Third party booking sites like kiwi are absolutely atrocious to deal with. They will wait up to 2 days to actually book your flight while at the same time immediately taking your money. Then if the price goes up they will call you and ask for the difference. If you decline you have to wait 7-14 days for them to refund you and often times they make it so you can’t get the emails from the airline by using their own email address instead of yours.
Woah that sounds horrible! We’ve never used kiwi before, and now we never will. Thanks for the tip!
@@ProjectUntethered they all operate that way kiwi isn’t the only trash travel agency. I recently missed a flight to Colombia because the agency had not purchased my flight when I showed up to the airport. The email I got said booking confirmed and everything but when I called they said that it was still being processed by their booking specialist…. Yea missed the flight and nearly missed the window to cancel the hotel booking and missed out on what I had hoped would be an amazing trip :(
That sounds like an absolute nightmare. I’ll definitely be avoiding third party sites at all costs from now on!
totally agree on Kiwi!!! I've only used it once and never will again. It was just too sketchy.
-When I bought my ticket, I never got the airline confirmation code. It was only 1 day before my flight that I got my boarding pass and confirmation code from Kiwi!! Now this was just a flight from SFO to LAX, but had it been a bigger trip (like international) I can imagine it would be more stressful.
-At one point, I called 3 days before my flight (well before the 48 hour timeline to cancel/rebook) to cancel my booking and get flight credit back. Called customer service and they wouldn't even give me flight credit back even though I was within the 48-hour cancellation policy.
-Customer service is trash. Not professional and helpful. It sounded like I was calling the next door neighbor while they were cooking. I swear.
-Not necessarily related to Kiwi, but more of an annoyance with booking 3rd party: if you want to add your TSA precheck #, you have to call the airline to add it. Just an unnecessary extra step.
@@annejillianmonsanto8565 when i got the confirmation email saying the booking was confirmed, i started to look for the airline confirmation code as i have always gotten previously anytime i book a flight... the next day i called because i knew something was wrong... sure enough they hadn't even booked the flight yet... it is bad enough putting up with all the shitty games that the airlines play these days, but now the travel companies are getting in on it as well... i wish google would hold them to some sort of standard to be listed on google flights
Nice video
Thanks
Brilliant
Best tip- use southwest for domestic flights lmao. Saved about $300 on my last round trip.
May I ask what screen recording software you use or recommend please
I think I was using a free version of one called Drift for that video, but I’m not sure if I’d recommend it. I’ve had some issues, but that might be due to crappy wifi connections.
Fantastic information, Great tips. I've been to the Philippines twice both times for a month. I'm thinking of going for 3 or 4 months. Do you think it's better to look for a round trip ticket with ability to change date. Or just a one way ticket? I can save about $400 with a round trip.
That’s a great question. I think it all depends on the flexibility that you need. If you don’t mind a strict return date, then round trip would work. But if you prefer to go with the flow (which is what we generally do), then the extra $400 for one ways might be worth it. I wonder if it’d also be possible to book a round trip with the ability to alter your return date. I’ve never done this before, but if you find that it’s possible, maybe the change fee and price difference would be less than $400 - although if it’s a last minute change, it could end up being more.
Now that I think about it, I think we’ve actually done this before (changed the return date). But that was during the middle of the pandemic, so things may have been more flexible back then.
@@ProjectUntethered Thank You :)
You might have a problem getting into the Phillipines without a return ticket
@@ProjectUntethered Thank you
I tried to compare Google Flights and Itamatrix results for the same dates, and actually noticed, that Itamatrix does not include budget airlines therefore showing more expensive options. Strange.
Thank you...I learned a lot
Thank you very much for the advice. Found what I'm looking. Got quoted by a 3rd party 388 euros and google flight was offering same flight from 155 euros.
Score!!!
well depends on the distance. I searched for toronto to australia is about Can 2,175. Almost same amount in other websites
I am a travel vlogger and use Google flights all the time but I learned some new great tricks here. Thanks
You’re very welcome! ✈️✈️✈️
Fantastic
I usually buy tickets from these 3rd party sites that momondo recommends. If I need to cancel or change dates, I usually just get my booking number that I received from the 3rd party site and go directly to the airline and get them to change the dates. That way I avoid the hassle of contacting the 3rd party site, get a nice price on my ticket and get the service that the airline offers.
Oh wow I didn’t even realize you could do that, great tip!
@@ProjectUntethered Yeah, these 3rd party sites usually puts fees on their services like rebooking and canceling. You basically pay them to talk to the airline to change date or whatever. But you can just do it on your own. 3rd party sites make most of their money on these services. Just cut the middle man out and contact the airline yourself.😂👍
Glad I could help!
Genius!!
@@fardinkhan00 I did that during covid and British Airlines didn’t let me cancel directly with them. I still had to use the 3rd party company and they took all my funds and I had nothing left.
@@GPCPR1 really? Wow that's terrible, I personally haven't had that issue but maybe it some 3rd party sites book your ticket in a way that you can't change anything without them.
Thank you
You’re welcome :-)
Got any other hacks for finding cheap flights? Share 'em in the comments! ✈️
If you are booking international to Asia. Book separately the flight to Lax and the round trip from Lax to Asia. At least I saw a 1000 to 2000 price difference for 3 people.
That’s a great tip! We did that flying colombia to LAX and LAX to Asia - I confirm this can save money!
In the US, if booking with Spirit, you can save $20 per flight if you buy it at the airport counter, instead of online.
That’s a great tip! And I actually think that trick works with several different airlines! Could definitely be worth it if your booking for many people or you live close to the airport 😎
I had no idea you can search multiple departure locations at once - this will save heaps of time....thankyou!
You bet!! 😎
Hi there. To research the availability of long layovers without AIRWANDER, what or where do I go?
Just go to the airwander website and search just like I did :-)
Thanks sooo much. What about buying a ticket with open availability on return
You bet! If you don’t have a set schedule, I generally just buy one-way tickets.
Momondo has a lot small dealers that you may not get a real ticket or the ticket is cancelled within few hours. Skyscanner is little upscale comparing with momondo, but for people like me paying attention to fare class and try my best to book with airlines directly (trapped in a island with a coming tornado is NOT fun)
That does not sound found at all! Our favorite way to book is directly with airlines using frequent flier miles, but sometimes that isn’t possible (or doesn’t make sense if flights are cheap to begin with)
Good 👍
Google flights wow this is great I never knew flights are way cheaper !
I’ve never booked off a third party website and I just did for an international flight to Europe with Expedia. I’m taking Condor airlines, which I’ve never heard of… hoping no hidden fees or last minute cancellation pops up cause i already bought the ticket。Anxiety at the finest.
It sounds like worrying won’t help anything in this situation. All you can do is hope for the best, and you may realize all that worrying and stress was for nothing!
Condor are a German airline and have been around for years around EU and international. You will be fine.
What hidden fees? Every third party provider has to state all of the fees and/or inform you of potential additional fees. Been using Trip for years flying from China to europe for 700USD almost always. Never had any issues. And why would you fly with an airline that’s not reputable? So you can save 10 bucks?
The difference is google doesnt add seat charges and checkec in baggar while momondo and kayak does.
So technically its not a hack
The baggage feature is pretty cool, not gonna lie. I talk about it in my next video that’s going out 😇
