They used to be affordable for kids in the USA in the 70's to about 1986. It was a brand new sport in the early 70's in the USA, and some parents rode stripped down street bikes for dirt bikes, (I caught the very end of that era as a kid, but my parents did not ride.). I only made from 74 at 10 years old to 1980, $1.00/hr part time at a little highway store my dad had, and bought a new bike every two years, and riding gear, with that money. They cost about $800.00, but once you sold the old pone, you had over half the money for the next one,--and new gear. Sorry to say, but it looks like the dictators running the world don't want us making any money.
Hey Tyler looking to do the same setup on my 2019 yz 125 but just not familiar with how it works putting a full system on. Did you have to do any jetting work after installing it?
2-stroke bikes with a carb are sold with rich jetting, and it looks like this pipe made little difference there. It should only smoke on start up with crisp jetting as one indicator. It was the amateurs who filled the stadiums with smoke in 2 races, not the pros all weekend at Pontiac. You should really tune the jetting on a new bike, and any time you make an engine part change or porting. You will enjoy more power, and less power valve and pipe sludge mess.
@@RIDEreviewRELOADMore exhaust flow means you need to richen up the fuel mixture to make more power. The only reason you make more power with more flow is because you can then and only then dump more fuel in the cylinder and that's what makes more powe when move up in jet sizes.
Hello, dear Tyler, please answer my question. It is very important to me. I am thinking of changing the my Yamaha WR 155cc model 2022. I will buy a Yamaha yz125 for motocross training and a little enduro & Wheelie. Because i watch the dyno test of this engine is Yamaha yz 125 model 2022. It had 34 horsepower, it was very attractive to me, and I want to experience the 2-stroke engine. Should I buy this dirt bike? Can you please guide me?💙💙
There terrible quality on two stroke way thinner metal than fmfs I prefer fmf for two strokes on four strokes there fine two strokes pro circuits are so easy to dent I dented my old pipe with my boot
Yea, (water cooled bikes), you need to warm up the water before you take off. Jetting the 2-stroke well will give you more power and warm up the water faster also, (this bike is on the rich side. All new 2-strokes with a carb are sold that way). You can rev the bike in neutral to help warm it up faster because the engine is not under load. What can happen with cold water is, the cold cylinder won't expand as fast as the hot piston, so you can get scuffing, or even what is called "a cold seizure". You want to warm it up so you can feel good heat with your fingers on top of the radiator(s), with your gloves on. Pretty hot with the gloves off. It takes about 5 min to warm them up with stock jetting. 59 years old, been riding.running 2-strokes from the 70's air cooled days, have engineering degrees, and build 2-stroke race engines for a living. Smarter than MXA today. :) (but it used to be a great mag and not just a sales brochure.).
@@EarthSurferUSA I just warmed my bikes up for a few minutes until they started running right and wouldn't bog with the choke off. Don't overthink or overengineer the issue.
@@JohnDoeEagle1 You do what you want. I know what I am talking about. I am not "over engineering" the issue, but I am an engineer, and build 2-stroke engines for a living.
