I just successfully completed this repair. Disconnecting the wire harnesses was tricky. Each harness has a clip that must be depressed to release and the video does not show this. I took a photo of the board before i disconnected anything. I was glad i did. The reoair took me about 30 minutes to complete. Seeing the video gave me the confidence to tackle it. I'm on my second load of laundry now.

I really need your confidence because I have no one with lockdown and been waiting for months, it's a nightmare of piles and my replacement been sitting on the table enough.

I just completed mine. I noticed that it shows only the three connectors that can be removed by hand. The other 10 are not coming out by hand like the large ones so easily or at alI, if you have a small grip like mine. I did not have pliers to disconnect the connectors from the unit. I also have no grip like yours as a lady. What worked best for me was a 2mm or 2.5 mm mini flat head screwdriver that are used on computers. No struggle or strain at all. The connector has a cavity that hosted each connector connection. Take the 2mm flat head place underneath center area of the connector where it slid into the cavity. Push up or pry up and it pops out perfectly. Thanks for doing this video.😀 It gave me the lead to figure out how to do my own as well. I am now happily washing. 😃
Here's a link to what the mini flat head looks like if anyone sees this video. It's cheap. I already had one. Or buy a full set that has more than just a flat head.

Our LG WM8000 quit mid cycle, only 4 years old, no power and would not reset with the unplug/hold button. Watched your video, read website and took a chance on this part because of return policy. It worked, after paying $1400 for washer, very glad to have it running again. Great video and service, thank you!

Thank you!! Watched tutorial, ordered part, installed by myself-- no problems. It did take me a little longer than 15 minutes but this was the first time I have ever done anything like this. This video gave me the confidence to do it and saved me so much money.

I have to give kudo to RepairClinic as their return policy is amazing. 365 days no question asked, and all I will have to pay is the shipping back for around 10 bucks in case the issue wasn't the circuit board.
It ended up to be the circuit board, but it took me a while initially as I didn't want to invest 200 bucks and it turned out to be something else. Once I read the return policy, it was no brainer anymore. Even better, the price is cheaper compared to other sites.
    Recommend RepairClinic for sure.

This is an amazing recording which provided me the necessary information to quickly remove the main control board from our washer. The drum light was staying on and I read in another blog to "tap" the yellow relay several times. Low and behold it worked. I followed these directions to gain access to the panel, tapped and reassembled. It appears that the relay is now functioning as expected. Even if the relay dies again, I now know how to pull the board to replace it. Much appreciated.

THANK YOU! I bought my LG washers 7 years ago and they have been doing the whole not turn on thing for almost 2 years intermittently. Purchased circuit board on Amazon and pretty much did the work myself before my husband got home thanks to your video. First try it turned on! Very detailed instructions, easy to follow!

My LG washer would finish a load, play the little song, and then stop. Nothing. We'd have to go to circuit breaker and toggle the washer off, then on, to get the washer to work again. After a while that was too much hassle. Watched this video, ordered the part online. Followed video and the washer is behaving normally within 30 minutes. The internet is amazing!

Great video! My LG washer is 10 years old and this is the first time it has needed a repair. The only problem I had was getting some of the connectors off the board and the bottom blue clip back on the wire harness to the back of the machine. Couldn't have done it without this video, Thanks!

i have an LG front-loading washer (WM3360HVCA) that is less than 5 years old but was requiring unplugging and power button resets too often. I watched this video to gauge DIY then bought the control board at a local parts depot. Video nailed most details well. Thanks!! The boards have manufacturing dates on them and my old board was from 2003!! and the replacement from 2011! Yikes, the lag on this part is literally years, why?? Anyway, wife is happy washer is hassle-free again. Also echoing comments about difficulty removing some of the plugs. I have small needle-nose pliers which sucked to grasp the base of the plugs. To LG: why 14 plugs??? I wish the control board plugged into the chassis like a PC video card, that would totally rock.

In Ideal situations getting to the back of the washer helps, but for me I did not have that option with out a lot of headaches. If you are carefully you can cut the one zip tie on the case by the bottom and pull the cover off with out having to get to the back. The wires have small clips that if you push them in they will unlock the plugs. There was one that I had to use a small flat head screwdriver to get to, but all the wires came out and I did not have to remove the back.

Easy. Took pictures so I had a reference on how it was supposed to look as I put it back together. Hardest steps.
    1. ) Pulling a couple of the electronic wire plug-ins were a challenge even with pliers.
2-) Aligning rhe 4 clips.that hold the controller tight against the back panel. Aligning 4 at a time and putting pressure on the controller box to allow for all 4 clios to set and slide into place SIMULTANEOUSLY took two of us 30 min. It would gave been much easier if it had been designed to fit and slide 2 of the clips at a time, sliding thevcontrol box 1/4 inch and then aligning the last 2 clips and sliding the control box GG ugly to the right completing all 4 being properly in place.
....Perhaps removing the back washing machine access panel before trying to align and securec the clips might have lessend the frustration.
But we got it in done nonetheless the less and the machine now works again...yea!

Too bad the video does not show how to disconnect most of the wires from the board, It is not easy. I used a medium size flat nose pliers for all but the largest two connectors, Those two came off with finger grip. For most of the smaller ones, you have to place the pliers so they squeeze on the side of the connector with the tongue and then gently pull the connector off. If it is hard to pull then you are not doing it right. Hopefully RepairClinic will consider adding this to their video. I almost gave up and sent the new board back. But I finally figured it out.

I have a Kenmore Elite washing machine, the model is: 796.41472210, and I’ve been having a problem recently where it shuts off in the middle of its cycle, and when I turn it on again it displays PF - Power Failure. I’ve checked the input voltage from the outlet, and the voltage on the input to the PWB itself, and everything is fine before, during, and after the shut-off. Is this enough reason to change the main PWB?

How is the machine now? Was it at least able to turn on before going to PF? Ours suffered from the PF code, and when we tried to let it run a wash again, the machine no longer turns on at all. Not even after resetting it. I don't know if a Main Control Board replacement will help, but we will try it. PF means Power Failure, so there could be something wrong with the fuse inside the machine, whether it blew out or is defective.

Pliers are used to pinch the cable tie pins from the back of the machine, then they will pull free. The video was not clear. It looked like maybe the pliers were being used to break off the pins. The narrator says "remove" which is misleading. Second, to unplug the wire harness connectors, you need to press down on the tab on most of the plugs. If not, the the plug is locked in place, and it will be damaged.

So I had a blown fuse in my LG washer PCB and as it is encased in silicone I soldered an inline fuse holder across the terminal and put a fuse in. Upon powering up I found I also have a fault (probably with the resistor) that brings power to the fuse. As my washer is 2010 there are no longer available replacement PCBs so my question is wouldn't all similar PCBs for LG washers work as they all seem to have the same component setup and terminations? Were the board not completely encased in silicone I would be able to replace the resistor.
(For reference my PCB is EBR32268014)

Hi, I have an LG WM2501HWA washer and when my wife went to use it, all lights came on like a Christmas tree and some sounds came on as well. The washer was not responding so we decided to unplug it from the wall, unfortunately, now it doesn't turn all at all. I have tested the fuses on top and they all check 0.994 or a little above that, meaning that they are good. I also check the cable and there is power. Can it be that the Main Control Board went out? If so, how can I test it before I buy a new one?, Please help!

    • @repairclinic

+Jhon Castro Testing a main control board is normally beyond the abilities of a do it yourselfer. It requires reading the machine wiring diagram and performing live voltage tests or following the self test procedure on the tech sheet.

follow this video up to 1:54 you don't need to unplug everything and look for the fuse... or give me a link of the part that you ordered. I want to make sure that we're working with the same box.

Chris Schreiner I'm sorry I meant to say follow the video up to 1:54 and share the link of the party order that way I can see if it's the same box

Any Advice??? We just had a repairman come look at our LG Tromm wm2277hs. Machine stopped midwash because of uneven doad, we redistributed the clothes and then it made strange sounds, slowed and quit working. then no buttons would light up and it would not work. He said our control board needed to be replaced, he ordered part, which he then said does not work for this machine. He says that the replacement part number is not accurate on the Lg website or wherever he ordered it from and has run into this problem before. He did not really leave us with an answer other than buying new machine?? Can you tell me the actual replacement part for this machine? and if you thik this is actual problem? I would love to fix it myself- thanks

The main control board should be 6871ER1003C. If that part number is not the right part for your model, we recommend that you remove the old control and try and get a part number directly off of it. It’s hard to say with certainty if the control is the problem, but it is a likely cause from the description.

Thank you so much for responding! Here is where we run into a problem- the part number on old one is 6871ER1075J, the part number you gave me is the one he ordered and received and should work (you would think)
Although i did not see this new part in person, service tech says it is like comparing apples and oranges and will not work I guess i will try and contact LG direct and ask, unless you have another suggestion, thanks so much for getting back to me. j

I replaced the new control board from Repair Clinic and the washer's still won't turn on. Do you have any idea why? I've plugged everything back in, all of the wire harnesses. My control board #EBR64144920.

Make sure you got the right part # for the right Model # of your machine. I almost bought the wrong one but had the guy at repairclinic.com confirm the one I needed.

Your power cord is attached to a noise filter inside the unit. If this goes out, you do not get power. Pull the red connector, and check for power. If no power, that's the problem. You can get the part online for under 50 dollars. Here is a youtube vid on it: ua-cam.com/video/CmDEX0F13e4/v-deo.html

Part number ebr64144908 has been replaced by EBR64144920. Manufacturers do this from time to time when parts are updated. The board will still work in your machine. We will update the title of this video to reflect the change.

It would be more profitable to Repair Clinic and Potential Customers with these devices, if RC would state why one has to change these parts. Why would I have to change this board? Error messages, dead machine, what?

      @brianreynolds400 5 років тому

Because you overloaded machine in dry cycle like me I also can't get mech to replace motherboard as it is in mobile home also have to destroy machine by cutting machine in half to dispose of it as doorways are only 500m wide and machine is 650m

Part has failed on original board and a remanufactured. On my 3rd but this time I'm going through the entire service manual to check if there is something else failing that's causing this little IC to overheat and pop.

***** Two questions for you, firstly, Is it possible that the LG washing machines have planned obsolesence regarding the number of wash cycles it is to perform before an issue will arise with the CPU? Secondly, do have much experience with understand the actual motherboard itself?

    • @repairclinic
      @repairclinic  10 років тому

Michael Baker We are unsure about your first question. As for your second, what are you wondering about it?
