It's so new even the old bits are new. I do prefer streamers to just stream, dacs to dac and preamps to preamp, however. Not keen on Swiss army knife products, though I appreciate their benefits.
2:20 Just a tip: if you want smoother panning while the camera is mounted on a tripod, you can loosen the tripod-head a bit, and then put a rubber band on the handle and pull on the other end of the rubber band. Then you will get a lot smoother panning shot and it only costs a rubber band (you can re-use it). Thanks for the video. While seemingly I squared S is being pushed as a consensus on the interwebs, I-I-S is also correct and accepted since it means Inter Integrated circuit Sound in the first place. A lot of companies identify the port as IIS directly, as well.
It appears that the configuration of the IIS connector is not truly standardized yet and different manufacturers use a few different variants. Without the manual one is left at the mercy of the well understood "trial and error" process of flipping the IIS Modes here. Long live Bish, mon ami !

Now, seriously, why do manufacturers think we want small screens with small fonts? And we have a great invention called a "Dial Button". Sorry, I am old. P.S. Nice Yamaha... with the free "Yamaha Sound". It even has the "Natural Sound" letters on the front. That is probably why Andrew says it has a "sound"... 😁😁
Nice intro to the device, Chris. You know, I look at this thing and it strikes me as a device that is very well put together. Regarding the streamer, do you know if it supports Amazon Music HD? Frankly I have always been on the fence regarding this dual functionality of DAC and streamer in the same box. What was the emphasis put on, the DAC or the streamer? Because you know something is going to be compromised, although given the price you wouldn't think so. I just picked up an SMSL RAW-MDA 1 DAC, and I gotta say that this little powerhouse of a device is an absolute gem. I honestly doubt that this pricey Gustard is going to sound any better at 6 times the price. I look forward to the sound review to see if that is true or not.
