It's great video.. i want to ask also i am beginner, do you know how to change the front screen? I mean i want to take picture but i'd like to see the object full from the screen...
This video is highly informative. After owning my T1 for almost two years, now I know what all these options are for and what they do. The manuals do not address this functionality adequately. Thank you very much.
@@muhammadtaimoor7891 Hi. I not longer own this camera so can't produce any more. I will be starting more photography videos and tutorials this year on my other channel. ua-cam.com/users/RJBradburyPhoto
Is this camera still good? Because my sister bought a new DSLR for herself and she gave me this one. Is the video good? And should I stick to the stock lens? This is my first DLSR too!
+Oeshins I know it's an old comment, but why would he throw away the kit lens. Unless he has an 18-135mm or something that covers all the focal lengths that one does, I'd keep it
Richard, I feel I have "discovered" the "Mother Lode" of Canon 500D truly informative brain injections for the "old and semi-feeble" (78 currently)photographers who are trying to transition from decades of film photography into real and serious "digital photography for those semi-retired to fun photography old stumps like me. If I were the Queen, I would hurriedly knight you as SIR RICHARD OF THE ISLE OF CAMERA. I have no "negatives" that would help except that your "delivery is fairly rapid" in this episode. Thank you for your kind words Doc. If you have any questions give me a shout. I hope you are ready for my future videos on photography where I have gone from talking quickly to saying Erm a lot or just generally rabbiting on too much. I'll get the hang of this video presenting malarkey one day. :) I miss my 500D, the files were nice from that camera.
Hi Richard! I do have a question regarding my Canon EOS 500D, it's not taking photos in AF mode of stabilizer, its somehow not focusing and cant take pictures, what should i do?
HI Ruth. Image stabilisation and AF are two separate things. Auto focus needs contrast to work. On the 500D the most sensitive AF pont is the centre one. If you try to AF in low light it will struggle. I had it when shooting weddings some times so I would need to find something on the subject that presented better contrast for the cameras Auto Focus system to lock on to. Rick
Good afternoon... Friend, it is possible with an Android cell phone via cable and an app to control the camera screen and trigger video recording, it would be transforming the cell phone into a mobile monitor. It's possible ? If possible, could you guide me on how to do it? Grateful
Hi. Not that I am aware of, the 500D had HDMI out for playback on TV's but I don't think it would work as an external live view monitor. I no longer have this camera so I can not try it myself.
Great video. I know firmware v. 1.1.1 is out for the 500D (Here on the US site for T1i) I have not read the changelog so I don't know if it would benefit you. Have a good day.
Hi. Video clips can be 30 min or 4gb, which ever is hit first. As for battery life I am not sure. I no longer have the camera. I think Canon provide that info on their website or in the manual though.
Lastly, m using canon 550d but it doesn't work AF thought I on AF even in sitting too but no audio focus been working.. Kindly solve me this issue... Bro....
Btw it’s 500d the canon 500d is still a beast to me I got a micro sad card with an adapter so I can transfer the sad card to my phone and no need of using an sd card reader whatsoever
Hi, For beauty work and close up you are best going for a marco lens. Something like the Canon EF-S 60mm or Canon EF 100mm F2.8. Both lenses will get it done but if you are thinking of upgrading to a full frame camera later the 100mm is the one to go for. Both are available new and on the used market.
Sounds like you are using the 18-55 or similar lens. The cheaper lenses are variable aputure so the aperture changes as you zoom/change focal length. For example the 18-55 kit lens is a f3.5 to f5.6 lens. F3.5 at its widest and F5.6 at its longest.
Would need more information to solve that. Make sure AF is on on your lens and remember the cameras AF system needs contrast to focus. Point the camera at a lain wall and it will focus hunt and fail. Point it at something with texture and details and it will find focus.
Hi. That is not something that cn be done on the 500D as it does not have Wi-Fi. The only way you could do it is shoot RAW+JPEG or just JPEG and copy the JPEG files to your phone using a card reader.
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. As a beginner this series has taught me a great deal! Thank you!

You do know you can slow play speed on youtube? Best setup guide hands down ava, 90 percent accurate for the T2 as well.

+j1 command yes its still a good camera. throw away that stock lens and buy a 50mm 1.8 lens. thank me later
I just got it free too.
Newbie question but what will that do?
Thx!

Hi Richard, Can I use the Lutra Plus SanDisk 32 GB speed up to 130 Mb/s to my Canon EOS 500d camera
Hi. Not sure to be honest not had the camera for years and I don't remember using cards that large in it myself.
@@rickjbradbury thank you! You are amazing to reply my message.
@@inspriration1 No problem. Just has a quick look online. 32GB SD or SDHC cards will work. Above class 5 needed for video.

No. I only ever owned one 500D. It was probably recorded on another DSLR I borrowed at the time.

How do you disable flash when you're on the other modes such as portrait?
The best way to disable flash without going in depth is to either go into program auto mode or flash off mode
I want to use remote control but I dunno please help me
HI Mikey.
What are you trying to do ?
Cable release , ir remote , wireless flash ?
canon Eos T1
what this means sir
Hey you forgot to talk about video settings?????????
can i use this as a webcam?
Hi Kevin. I don't think so. Canon released webcam software for some of their dslr bodies earlier this year. Not sure if the 500D is supported.
can i change the quality of photos (from CR2 to JPG)
Yes you can. In the menus.
You can also set it to shoot RAW + JPEG at the same time.
My camera won't focus, do you know how to solve that?
that isnt build in on the 500d, just put it on manual focus, zoom in focus, zoom out and now you have a perfect focus
Would need more information to solve that.
Make sure AF is on on your lens and remember the cameras AF system needs contrast to focus. Point the camera at a lain wall and it will focus hunt and fail. Point it at something with texture and details and it will find focus.
you are going to fast for me to see how you change to different settings.
How to set eos 500d wifi with phone??
The 500D does not have WI-Fi so can not be done.
Can I connect 500 d to phone??
The 500D does not have any connectivity like Wi-Fi or blue tooth so you wo'n't be able to do that.

Indeed it is.
How to transfer photos Wirelessly
Hi Sandeep. The 500D does not have Wi-Fi. You can buy third party devices that will transfer JPEG files wirelessly but I have never used them.myself.
my camera cant take video in 30minute , why??
The recording limit is 10-12 minuets due to a 4GB file size limit which is due to some complicated licencing issue.
How to sent photos to smartphone

Either you have an F0 lens which I would love to see or your lens is not mounted correctly or at all.
