      if you have trouble with focus in low light it might be because you cranked the shutterspeed higher to let more light in? You need to balance those settings.
      So handheld shooting you need to have a higher shutterspeed (1/10 or 1/15) to not have blurry pictures. BUT if the picture is too dark open up the apature (lower number is wider open) so if your lens can do f/1.8 you'll get a brighter picture than f/3. imagine the f stop like squinting your eyes. the higher will be sharper but darker.
      and keep the ISO as low as you can. indoors though, you'd probably need to use 200-250 ISO

    I wish you made this channel more earlier and I found you years ago . I was in multimedia classes but in the end gave it up bc everything is so overwhelming. It is so new to me and even tho I am interested in photography the teacher wasn’t helpful and then the pressure of studying make me lose confident and photography just seems very scary. Now I am in different fields but do need to re-learn photography for content. I am so thankful in the end I found this channel. Bc it makes me think back how I love it before and still are. I think I am gonna try to take it more seriously now that I am more flexible and how social media offer a lot of tips/lesson like this

    I learned the hard way today that ISO grains the image bad when set really high! This video was amazing thank you so much

    • @JonathanAkosah
      @JonathanAkosah 4 роки тому +1

      It also depends on how good your camera/sensor is. Don't be afraid of high iso, & keep in mind 😉 We're the only ones who Really understand it. It's alright if it's necessary for you to get the shot & achieve your vision, try and produce the best quality you can but if you need to then raise it, other people don't know what high iso is. You'll be alright.

    • @QuietOC
      @QuietOC 4 роки тому

      You are conflating ISO settings with exposure. Higher ISO settings can reduce noise--they never increase noise/grain directly.

    • @Seven-pu5wj
      @Seven-pu5wj 4 місяці тому

      High ISO doesn’t grain the image.
      It’s the low exposure of the photo that grains it (I.e. lack of lighting in the environment, narrow aperture, fast shutter speed). All the ISO is doing is revealing what’s already there.

    This is a great video. I always liked to shoot in manual. My first camera was a Pentax MX which was so manual you could use it without a battery if you had a light meter. I also used a Deardorf and both the shutter and aperture were on the lens. My first automatic camera was a Leica R7. I was industrial photog but eventually migrated to the custom labs and was mostly a mural printer.

Do you go with evaluative, partial, or center weighted? Could you maybe do a video on light metering in different situations, if you haven't already? I just found your channel. I've been looking through dozens of photography videos over the last few days, trying to learn more about my craft as an amature photographer. Yours so far is the most helpful of all of them since you go step by step and show the actual changes in the image as you change the settings. This is perfect! i just commented 20 minutes ago on your other video showing how to take sharper images, but this one is even better! i dont have the levels you do in your camera for the aperture, iso and shutter speed, but im confident i can now at least attempt to take sharper images! thank you so much from the UK :)

    Great! as a video shooter who on occasion likes to shoot a photo ("likes" meaning "is forced to"), this is very helpful. In video you're almost always stuck with a fixed shutter speed of 48 or 60 due to the demands of natural motion blur. Being able to adjust that shutter speed for photos makes life a lot easier and a lot more flexible.
    alas---it is what it is , and never the twain shall meet. Love your videos. thanks you so much.

    Hello mrs.Julia Thank you so much for uploading this important video to youtube. Of course, Mrs. Julia, I like photography, but I do not know much about photography. I watched all your videos. I learned photos from those videos. Thank you very much. I am from Bimsara, Sri Lanka

    Your channel is my favorite. I saw your original manual mode video and it was partly what encouraged me to go after my dream!

    I like the way you explain it. I'm starting to learn and enjoying my camera. Doing example shots inside the house playing around the settings in manual mode. Thank you

    On the A7III, A7C, etc. there can be almost a stop less noise if you use ISO 640 and above instead of the lower ISO settings.

    Thank you so much for this tutorial. I learned Photography through an online school so learning manual mode is tricky for me. After watching your video, I understood the exposure triangle a lot more and was able to get out of Aperture Priority mode with confidence. I had a shoot today and for the first time I was so confident shooting Manual and my pictures were all properly exposed and sharp!

    One of the best videos to really learn the ins and the outs of the camera with explanation and visuals, extremely well done!
