People that claim Nebraska is flat and bored. Never get off I-80. Thanks for showing beautiful Nebraska by driving some of our great 2 lane roads! THANKS Dan H Bennet Nebraska
We have lived in Omaha for 15 years, this is our home, we raised our kids here. So glad you stopped and experienced our great city. Our zoo is one of the top in the US. Come back to visit. Covid has made it difficult, I’m sure you know. It did snow! Then we went on to have more amazing weather. Come back during the College World Series, it’s a blast! Safe travels.
My friend sent me a link to your travels, and I enjoyed the Nebraska travels a lot. I will be hopefully taking time to follow you on the rest of your journey.
I have driven under the museum many times, but never stopped. Next time we will have to include it in our plans. Also, we have never stopped in Omaha. You changed that also. I am a Nebraska native and enjoy going back to relive my childhood.
Henry Doorly Zoo is currently the nation's best zoo. I hope you didn't miss the night time part of the desert dome.. its awesome. If you see and take time at that zoo it takes 1.5-2 days and they are constantly building on. They also have a drive thru zoo around Ashland Nebraska between Omaha and Lincoln.
Thank you for sharing your visit to Omaha, due to Covid I didn't get back home this year (we moved to Arizona 4 years ago) and am very homesick, your visit helped me get a glimpse of home.
I've been to the Archway there on I-80. It is a fascinating look at the westward movement as our country expanded west, but also about "how" we traveled/travel, and the changes over time in doing so. I hope to visit it again and take it all in once again!
Thanks for visiting and saying such nice thing about Nebraska. The desert dome is my favorite. There's always a little bird of some kind walking around with the people.
Thanks for the look at Omaha. I was born in Nebraska, Grand Island, and we lived, for the most part, in NW Missouri very close to the Nebraska state line. We would cross the Missouri River at Rulo Nebraska to visit family in NE Kansas. They charged a toll of 15 cents to cross the bridge if I remember correctly in the early 60’s then raised it to 25 cents. I can’t say I have never been to Omaha but I think it will be on my list for this spring or early summer. Thanks for letting people know it’s more than just one big corn field!
UA-cam recommended your video. We live near Walnut Creek (PAPILLION NE), where you camped. You did a wonderful job with Omaha and Kearney. I’m now a subscriber and will share with family and friends😀
We found your channel a few days ago, and have thoroughly enjoyed every video we have watched. We love that you incorporate history in your content. Your videos are awesome, and definitely some of the best on UA-cam. Thank you for your wonderful channel. Happy New Year, and safe travels.
Great video guys, Brie it was so nice to meet you by chance at Walnut Creek campground. We were the couple in the Jeep looking for a spot. We ended up camping in Lincoln, Ne. Thank you for doing such a nice job talking about Nebraska!
We have stayed at Walnut Creek RV also. It is a small urban campground, but it is so close to everything. The lake is pretty good fishing too. The snakes at the zoo don't bother me near as much as the free flying bats in the Lied jungle exhibit.
I’m from eastern NE and have ALWAYS wondered what an outsider would think of our area. This was so fun to watch! I think it’s a good judge of character when someone can find beauty in what most people overlook, so kudos to you both. I’m glad you enjoyed this flyover state so much!
The omaha zoo is also the largest zoo in the world with the most species in the world, largest indoor desert in the world and the largest aquarium in the world. Thanks for visiting Nebraska
Omaha native here. I'm glad you found our little city enjoyable (: I have passed under the Kearney bridge a bunch of times, but have never gone into the museum, because we are always in a hurry when we're on a road trip lol.
Thanks for coming to nebraska! It was interesting to see what you activities you chose and what your opinions on nebraska were. I used to live in southwest nebraska and now live in the omaha area. You guys make great videos. Keep it up
Hope you had a great time in Omaha I live here and I'm so glad you got to see our zoo!! Much love from Cornhusker Nation!! You definitely need to come back for CWS and summer festivities the Omaha Food Fest The Summer Arts Festival and in fall the Valas Pumpkin Patch!!
What an awesome video you guys. This is home for me, but I retired to Ecuador so this tugged at my heart. And yes The Zoo is one of the best in the world. Next time you visit stay the northern route thru the husker state. A whole differant feel, beautiful up there. Thanks for the memories enjoy the RV life.
Hi new here! We have been living in our TT for 3 years and 2 years of it was in Omaha, NE. Winters sucked there though. Never went to that museum. Thank you for sharing and we are excited that we ran across yalls channel. - Jay & Jessica -
Glad you liked Omaha.I have lived here for about 35 years and have always thought it was one of the nicest towns I have been in.The food scene here is amazing and gets better every year it seems. You probably would have enjoyed the duram western heritage museum it is about a block from the old market.and if you are into art the joselyn museum is in that general part of town also.Things are kinda wound down here right now with corona and all but the old market gets pretty busy during the warmer part of the year.
I live in Louisville KY near Cincy. I lived for 14 years in Kansas City for 14 years before I moved. I have been to both zoos, and you are right, it us hard to say which is better. Those 2 zoo's and I would add San Diego zoo to my top 3 zoo's I have been to so far. I want to see the Columbus zoo in OH. Love walking around seeing the animals and getting Nathan's Hotdogs for lunch and snack. LOL Great video.
Honestly going to be a video I show people when my out of state friend ask what Omaha/Nebraska is all about! Also the zoo is ranked top 3 in the WORLD basically every year for the past 2 decades!
Hey guys! We are going to have to check out that area one day. We really don't go to many big cities but Omaha seemed really nice! Oklahoma City has a bronze statue area that is similar to the one in Omaha. Hope y'all are having fun in Florida. We will be headed to NC on Monday.
If you have kids and come to our Omaha zoo in the summer, bring swimsuits and play in the Alaskan Adventure splashgrounds. Kids also love the Adventure Trails interactive play area, www.omahazoo.com/childrens-adventure-trails, open in the summer. You could easily devote three whole days to our zoo when all the exhibits and attractions are open. I want to also put in a good word for the Kearney Arch. You will be tempted to zip right past it and continue flying down I-80, but it is a great stop!
As an Omaha-ite, and as someone who went to college in Kearmey, you did it justice. BTW, we are heading to Scottsbluff, this summer, and your guide of the Monument was great! If you're ever in Omaha, again, stop by! LOL
Since you don't like rattle snakes. Its a good thing you did not get off the path at Scott's Buff monument that you visited earlier. Rattle snakes are very common in the western 1/2 of Nebraska.
I'm glad you liked it here. You should try again when there isn't a pandemic. There is always something going on if you know where to look. From farmers markets, to art shows. Shakespeare on the green and concerts in the park. The people are friendly and we sure love our pups. They are building a large dog park in that area downtown that is under construction, among other things going in there. I hope you come back soon! I'm sure any of us would happily be a guide!
Next time through Nebraska, try the Sand Hills Crane Migration between Kearny and Grand Island! The 3rd largest migration in the world! There are millions of sand hill cranes!! Really millions! Your mouth will drop! It is worth coming back! Thanks for such a good review of Omaha. Best place to raise a family!!

The bridge is named after the United States senator who made a major push for it. The Omaha Zoo us an amazing place. I highly suggest checking out most exhibits there. I cannot speak for the new exhibits.
This is actually very interesting to see from the perspective of someone who isn’t from here. Right now I’m about halfway through the video where you’re talking about the statues of the pioneers and I didn’t even know that was here! I live in the more suburban part of Omaha, so not too close to where you were downtown, but I’ve lived here my whole life and nobody talks about those statues!
I'm from Omaha and currently snowboarding in AZ. Wife is from central Iowa. We spent the week of Thanksgiving at Walnut Creek so that I could visit family. I used to go to the zoo every year, family had annual passes. I haven't been there in a couple years. I wonder if you guys had time to see every thing. I always tell people to plan to spend two days there. I wonder how TJ reacted to walking under the python in the Leid Jungle if you guys made it that far.
They’re not joking when they say we all tell visitors to go to the zoo! 😆 Plan a whole day for the zoo, wear good clothes for walking, and make sure you spend some time reading and learning! Also, Runza is a restaurant we Nebraskans plug, so stop in to one!
