    Perfect, I tried this as I knew hew was busy in my lawn, and he popped up very soon, I wasn't as accurate with my spade as you and he got away, but I put the hose in the hole he had just ecaped from and he came swimming up to the surface a couple of minutes later! :-)
    Released a couple of miles away, now time to reclaim my lawn.

    We recently moved into a new house that had mole tunnels everywhere in the back yard. Fortunately, we have a Jack Russell mix that has a high prey drive. She has killed at least a dozen moles and voles in the last month! Whenever she passes, I'll definitely give your hose method a shot...or get another Jack.

    I live in FL and love the moles in my yard. You see, especially during the dry season, the ground gets really dry and when you try to water the plants the water doesn't get absorbed into the ground, it just runs away. The moles make tunnels very close to my plants, therefore when I water my plants that have been serviced by moles, the water goes in right away, into the roots of the plants, getting away from the sun and therefore also avoiding evaporation. I can tell you that my plants that have been serviced by moles do much better, by far, than the ones that have not been visited by them. Just a word for the moles!

    Thanks for this video. I've been trying to catch/kill a mole that has devastated my yard the past few weeks. I've been using the scissor traps, but have not been successful. It's as though the mole knows about the trap and tunnels around it. I tamped down all the raised dirt from the tunneling and set the traps again. Then I came in and got online looking for a better solution. I found and watched your video about using a shovel to dig it out when I can see the mole digging. In the 15 minutes it took for me to find and watch your video; then walk out to the mole digging area with a shovel I discovered the mole was already opening up its tunnels. I saw movement and with one shovel strike was able to dig it out. Amazing! Thanks again.

    I tried the pesticide route first to kill their food source. It was ineffective.
    Then tried the poison worms, had some luck with that but it didn’t eliminate the problem.
    I tried the spear traps and they were mostly ineffective.
    I caught a couple of moles the same way you did with water. I still did not get them all though.
    I finally bought smoke bombs for use on moles and they were VERY effective. Killed them right now.
    I think I finally got them all. I highly recommend the smoke bombs.

    • @usethenoodle
      @usethenoodle Рік тому +1

      Smoke bombs do work to a degree if they are in that tunnel close by. It's hit and miss. My best is the scissor traps. Setting on new activity as soon as you see it. I've killed a few with a product called Mole Cat which uses a .22 blank. But as soon as you see fresh activity, don't delay. I have 3 traps and the Mole Cat. I set them all in a row, one in each mound. Glove up and don't get your scent on your traps. Build a soil bridge under the trap trigger so he has to tunnel through and it will set off the trap. If you don't get on it immediately, they are hard to locate the larger their system of tunnels gets.

    Nasty little buggers ain't they?!?! Looks like you're gonna need some more grub killer on the yard. They love em some grubs and I haven't had any problems with them since I started putting down grub killer every spring. Also, I noticed you have a pair of beautiful Golden Retrievers and one's named Buddy. I had a Golden Retriever when I lived down by Branson and he was registered as Ozark Mountain Buddy. Loved that dog. Problem was, he loved everybody and somebody loaded him up in their car and never brought him back. But hey, I got over it...Sorta. Merry Christmas buddy. Good video.

    #3 At what point in the time you been trying to catch this thing did you feel like Bill Murry
