I live in western Massachusetts. I live in a primarily rural area, and my property abuts conservation lands. I’ve been in this house 10+ years now. And I’ve always tried to plant only native species, and I use only organic methods to control invasive plants and weeds. My third year here, I was able to discourage the mole/vole population by early morning canvas of my yard, and tamping down their runs and mounds….I’d typically do this morning and early evening. I guess the critters grew tired of repair work, and within a month or two, problem just “disappeared”. However, here we are seven years later, and the population of moles/voles has suddenly “bloomed”. Even with twice a day “lawn patrol”, I can’t keep up with them! They’ve even increased, seemingly, exponentially. Now, I’m resorting to Tomcat poisoned worms…they just now arrived via Amazon. Let’s keep our fingers crossed…..and thanks much, for the “tips” you offered in this video, sir. Bravo-Zulu…..great, informative video!
We live in Ky. Moles are definitely in my yard! There are multiple areas where the dirt mounded up in the yard. Our lawn is very green and healthy. I contacted the lawn care service we use and they quoted a cost for the size of our yard of $180! WOW! Looking for a DIY. Think we will give this a try. Thanks.
Thank you for this helpful video. My husband is ready to go hand to hand combat style! Those moles have destroyed our lawn. We’ve tried granules, smoke bombs… gonna give these worms a try. Thanks again! 👍🏻
Yes huge here in Kansas I have not tried the worms but have used the little pellets... I purchased the T-Applicator looks a lot like your T- probe .. I don’t know if it works to be honest but I know one thing that does work 6 oz. caster oil 3 oz of Dawn dish soap tablespoon of Cayanne pepper ortho sprayer set on 3 1/2 this chases them away application every three weeks..... Thanks 🙏
I use the ones with the spikes the mist. I have 6 different kind. One year I caught 42 and the next year I caught 25 so I bought a Rodenator. That did the job. It gets them when they are in places where they don't come out.Like under stumps and wood piles.
It is just one mole that has done the damage here! Great tip onthe gloves…my dadwas a trapper and he would also set traps to kill the ground moles…he would set the traps with the spikes that come down right as the tunnel entered the yard at the side of the woods and he woyld set the traps and place a couple bricks leaning on the traps so they had good staynf power when they went off and he litterall go t the mole every time within two days. He was very impressive and a professional l
Cool story! It's amazing how much damage they can do. I haven't tried the traps yet. Sometimes there's so many tunnels that I wouldn't know where to put the trap, lol.
10 DAY UPDATE: The 4 dirt mounds were flattened by my mower a few days after making the video. They didn't reappear or get pushed back up at the 10 day mark. There weren't any new dirt mounds either. The Tomcat Mole Killer was a success! Have you tried them and do they work for you?
Came home from work this evening and saw a dirt pile moving. Ran into garage and grabbed a spade shovel and took a bite out of the ground with the shovel and popped one onto the surface. RIP. His friends are getting the worms though. Assholes.
im about desperate enough to dig some up! but i would be digging up my entire yard! I have my work cut out for me here in ohio. ! Theres alot of these vids but not many follow ups?
@@primesspct2 all activity when I baited last year stopped when I posted that post. I assume they died. They are back this year though. I have baited once again and all activity has stopped once again. As a backup I've purchased 4 trapline mole traps. If any new activity I will trap them. The traps seem to be good. Look them up on goggle or youtube. I hope I get to use them this season.
I am ready to try Tomcat, I currently have two of the sonar stakes in my backyard. Just had my yard professionally landscaped one year ago. Within the last two weeks, something, I think moles, have eaten the roots of a mature rose bush, killing half of it. Then it/they went for an Oak Leaf Hydrangea. (That is when I bought the two sonar stakes.) Now it is going for a hydrangea next to the Oak Leaf one. The area is covered with bark and I do not see any mounds. Maybe my next step should be the probe, so I can feel where the tunnels might be. (Waiting for the waves to drive the moles away. I have read it may take two weeks.) Thank you for your video. A friend had recommended Tomcat, and now I know how to easily use it! I had not even considered this might happen in my yard. Never had a problem before.
I've caught moles with liquid dish soap and water. Find a fresh mound( that looks like a giant ant hill, have dish soap and water ready. Brush the loose dirt away, and find the hole beneath it. Pour a little of the liquid soap in the hole, followed with the water. I use the garden hose. Squirt the water into the hole. If the mole is there, he'll shoot out like he was greased. About a size ten boot or a flat instrument, such as a hoe. Results: DEAD MOLE>
Moles are a big problem in Central Indiana, at least for me. I wonder if they like composted yards. They seem to love mine. I will try you suggestion. The stuff I used seems to stop one track but the move to other areas of the yard.
Good luck with getting rid of them. I usually use a box at a time and it works well. Please post back with your results. Hopefully you'll notice an improvement within a week.
Hello and thank you for doing the video. This is my first experience with what i call vertical moles. I used to work at a golf course in ohio and the moles there were just like yours they went lateral along the ground and you could see their tunnels on the course. But here in east Texas there are no risen tunnels to follow that i have seen, they just make the mound of dirt and then go back deep i guess. Funny story i was building a fence on my new property and i had dug a post hole and put some gravel in it and was planning to set the post in concrete after lunch. I came back from lunch and the post hole was half full of dirt. I stood there scratching my head as i had no idea what it was all about. But now i know its a mole or several because it has happend several times now. If i can find this stuff ill try it and let you know. Again thanks for the video... well done sir... :)
Thanks for the worm tips. They were awful last year...I got one of those Tomcat traps but wherever I put it, they went somewhere else. This should give me better coverage for the whole yard...
thank you I'm going to definitely buy this tomorrow because that's exactly what I have for digging in my yard and driving my dog crazy thank you hope it works you have me convinced good job 🤭👍
I bought some of these worms and some worm oil (for fishing lures) and put the worms in their tunnels. I did it last July after having an infestation for about 15 years where you literally couldn't take a step in any direction without stepping on a mole tunnel. I did an all-out assault on them by putting castor oil spray and everything I could think of including digging the mole up as it was tunneling. Their numbers did decrease and I think I have it to a manageable level this year. I've not seen the usual tunnels except by the stream and I think I can trap that one.
Thanks for making a great video. I have an outside cat and have tried to stay away from poison, in case he caught one. What I need to find out is how fast it works once eaten and if the mole would stay in the tunnel to die. Maybe Tomcat will have the answers.
I have a box of the TomCat worm to try. If that doesn't work I will try the Golpher Hawk, Thanks for your guidance. I expect the TomCat worms to work..
My grass was disappearing because of grub worms & the moles were tearing my yard up trying to tunnel through my yard & eat the grubs. I bought the TomCat gummy worms & it appears to have taken care of the problem
I've used these doesn't work for most yards in my area of Michigan. They have actually built-up a immunity to the poison. Best option is shooting them put garden hose in tunnel and fill up with water. As they pop up to run bang.

Isn't the worm harmful to pets that attack moles?
I found this on the Home Depot website. I recommend reading the Tomcat website for more info.

The only tried-and-true method of eradicating moles is to either dig them up while they're digging through an existing surface tunnel, or setting a metal trap. Sorry, but nothing else works. Trust me.

Yes, you could easily do that, but I'm not sure if smaller pieces consumed by moles would be as effective.
