Same here. Problem is most people aren't concerned with principles, facts, or logic for the majority of their decision making. Most people have no interest in effectuating change in their environment in much the same way we ignore the fact of getting older. Yang had the perfect opportunity to talk about Ranked Choice Voting as it would have answered the major questions in one blow. RCV is one of the FWD party's big talking points.
I just can't understand anyone who continues to support the 2 party system. We've been doing it for how long and it's gotten how much better? Looks like 0 to me. 350mill+ Americans do not comfortably fit into just 2 ideological ideas/parties...
The founding fathers were even afraid of a two party system. They knew people would tend to be loyal to party and not country. It's sad that most don't understand how government operates. Really need to take a Political Science course to get a good grasp of how governments operate in other Democratic countries. Our system is flawed if two parties dominate. Thing that makes it worse is we constantly go from one party to the other and back. Which allows nothing to ever get accomplished, because it takes years to implement policies.
The one thing both parties have done in a bipartisan manner is to make sure campaign finance and ballot laws make it nearly impossible for a 3rd party to compete. This doesnt even address the media bias issues that will be even more difficult to overcome.
the issue with not doing ubi is that if people continue to work fulltime without the companies giving back to the workers sufficiently no one will feel secure enough to have children in the future, people can barely think straight these days as it is, our phones have too much information and we're also having to go through life. We're producing a generation of terrible voters and decision makers.
I don’t know about the feasibility of UBI or a third party but Andrew is such a genuine, reasonable, thoughtful, and intelligent man that I trust him far more than any other politician.
The real political problem with a guaranteed income isn't the costs, but the benefits. Poor people won't work for slave wages if they have government benefits.
@@scifirealism5943 In one of the UBI discussions he mentioned that when it almost passed in1969, a Dem politician said "but who will clean our toilets?". The answer is, of course, that the cost of cleaning toilets would rise to its natural free market value based on the unpleasantness of the task. You can artificially depress wages for the worst jobs with the threat of extreme poverty. Since the same argument applies to the SECOND to worst jobs, you get at least slightly lower cost of labor up to the point where the difference between careers doesn't affect quality of life (studies have shown that this is about $70k in the US but its probably higher now with inflation).
@@dustinsoodak8954 yes. democrats opposed the minimum income because it was too stringent and republicans opposed it because it was a guaranteed income for the poor. The reason for not having robust welfare for poor people is very simple-poor people won't work for slave wages if they have government benefits. If it was truly possible for any poor person to afford healthcare, food, housing, education, etc. out of pocket, without working-which is what rich people can do-then nobody would EVER work in fast food or retail, for minimum wage, with zero benefits or chance for advancement.
It's too bad Bill is stuck on policy. Yang explained how leaning into specific policy is detrimental right now and the point was completely missed. The real change the Forward Party makes is in how it's pushing against party primaries and how it promotes strong candidates regardless of political party, which moves us away from the current system that incentivizes polarization

Andrew Yang does say some smart things - even if the 3rd party idea may not work in such a divided US - even though the reality is up to a third of the population may well be moderate, closer to the centre than to the fringes. His suggestion that Biden should complete his 4 year term having achieved the main goal, and be a bridge to the next generation, and be thanked and respected for doing so, is a very fine idea.
Great conversation. Mr. Yang has diagnosed a big problem (2 parties is a struggle to the death, while the rest of us are helpless,) but having been burned when 3d party took votes from my favored party, I am afraid of the risk. A third party needs infrastructure, campaign experts, marketers, policy experts, academics, and people who can govern so voters are reassured. It needs a track record, standing. I think Yang is on to something that a big Democratic Presidential primary would be interesting, but scary. The stakes are so high.
I get that ppl get scared when thinking about a NEW, UNKNOWN, third option. I do too. But Yang is one of the few politicians that seem actually knowledgeable, thinking critically, and trying to actually solve problems instead of just navigating the politics game. Just saying
At this time, the only platform is change the system by instituting ranked choice voting and open primaries wherever possible. Once that is achieved, the door will be open for many parties. Andrew will run again on same platform as 2020. He is just as committed as before, but sees that nothing can happen until we fix this corrupt system that is getting worse by the minute.
no, it's in her interest to shoot down on the idea because having a competitive election is not in her interest. Yang is the only candidate I've ever donated to. What the two other panelists fail to understand is if you want to radically change an element of the system (i.e. political party primaries), you're going to have to shock the system. I think the offering of a third party is a great idea right now, because this is a very different time than the Ross Perot era. The time for a "New Center" has been ticking for quite some time, ever since many working-class center-left voters felt disenfranchised from the Democratic party before the Trump inauguration. Of course this is a naturally threatening position to the Democrat and Republican party, because it introduces a new competitor. I agree, but I'm one of the most aggressive YGer. You need to make space before you can build and therefore, the fake progressives need to be pushed out... "and don't forget your fake socialist propaganda on your way out, Bernie and Bimbo Guevarra!"

Yang you broke my heart
Andrew you are rock keep up. We with you
Yang had the perfect opportunity to talk about Ranked Choice Voting as it would have answered the major questions in one blow. RCV is one of the FWD party's big talking points.
I want him to run again
He is so smart!! What are we waiting for!!! Yang 2024!!!
So she's basically saying to save Democracy we must ensure only one party ever wins!
I just can't understand anyone who continues to support the 2 party system. We've been doing it for how long and it's gotten how much better? Looks like 0 to me.
350mill+ Americans do not comfortably fit into just 2 ideological ideas/parties...
Agreed
The founding fathers were even afraid of a two party system. They knew people would tend to be loyal to party and not country. It's sad that most don't understand how government operates. Really need to take a Political Science course to get a good grasp of how governments operate in other Democratic countries. Our system is flawed if two parties dominate. Thing that makes it worse is we constantly go from one party to the other and back. Which allows nothing to ever get accomplished, because it takes years to implement policies.
😂😂
The one thing both parties have done in a bipartisan manner is to make sure campaign finance and ballot laws make it nearly impossible for a 3rd party to compete. This doesnt even address the media bias issues that will be even more difficult to overcome.
We can end up like Italy and have multiple parties and never get anything done which is actually the best government
Love these two standing up to each other! Bravo!
Yang should have stood up to the DNC instead of caving in...i was so disappointed in him
The way this guy talk's, makes me want to vote for him.
We will never have a third party until we change our voting system to something like ranked choice voting.
I always felt like Yang has the ideas, he just need a political advisor on his team who is ruthless and able to get him in the right places.
Love YANG!! I voted for you & glad I did. I am so horrified with Biden.
the issue with not doing ubi is that if people continue to work fulltime without the companies giving back to the workers sufficiently no one will feel secure enough to have children in the future, people can barely think straight these days as it is, our phones have too much information and we're also having to go through life. We're producing a generation of terrible voters and decision makers.
Great video. Thanks Andrew Yang. Go for it. Let's see what happens.
Yang 2024
Mayer and Slotkin couldn't get ranked choice voting and plurality representation to save their lives.
@@scifirealism5943
In one of the UBI discussions he mentioned that when it almost passed in1969, a Dem politician said "but who will clean our toilets?".
@@dustinsoodak8954 yep.
@@dustinsoodak8954 yes.
People are the problem, so let's replace the people with people.
Great idea lady! Why didn't anyone ever think of that!
Conversation that needed to be had
Thanks.
We need him so bad right now. He could easily win now.
😂😂😂
Yang gang 💙
Wow she opened her mouth and got absolutely DESTROYED
Literally exactly what he warned about us punting the succession issue is happening now.
It seems like she thinks her current senate run gives her more relevant experience than Andrew’s presidential and largest city in America mayoral run. 😆
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
2 races he lost in grand fashion
@@CampingJimmy If by "losing in grand fashion", you mean that he put up a good fight, then sure! Losing in grand fashion in surely better than losing another way and never being heard from again.
@@MarkHWillson He didntr put up a fight though. He was never taken seriously in either race.
@@CampingJimmy Maybe not by you and your circles. Certainly tons of people out there took those candidacies seriously - there is no denying that.
I read his book, 'The War on Normal People'. Andrew Yang definitely gets it. I hope one day the World's countries have the sense to elect people like him and what he stands for.
"So, you're for good things and against bad?"
"Yup."
Shock and awe ensues
Still a proud member of the Yang gang.
If people are still confused about the party then just keep it simple. Forward Party is about keeping democracy and ending polarization. Two main platforms. 1) Open primaries. 2) Rank choice voting.
Amen!
Andrew Yang always makes so much sense
You start with a vision and work out the specifics later. He has the vision; a unified country capable of self-correcting.
Man, I do not regret the money spent on this man’s campaign. First time I’ve ever spent money for anything political and something I truly believe in. Really was hoping for another run but that’s alright.
She said that by handing over the government to a third party is like handing over to a fascist regime. I think she forgot about the whole checks and balance system.

This lady (seating congressperson and running for senate): oh no, we can't have a multiparty system because it will lead to extremism
(we're only 2 years removed from a Trump Presidency and he's running again next year)
Clearly if there's a system that allows extremism, it's America's
Man if this guy was president we'd be in a such a better spot lol
I love you you Andrew. I’m not voting for your third party, but I still love you. ❤️🫂🙏🏽
I feel the same way. :)
Why not?
@@trevorgibbsnc the platform sucks. Andrew is a sincere guy trying to do good, but it’s not my cup of tea.
@@trevorgibbsnc Because democracy in America is facing an existential threat with the untethered orange clown menace. If he gets elected(and every vote will count including yours) democracy and the country is doomed. That's why.
@@BigDaddyDru What’s the “more appealing” alternative?
Ya that's what I was always taught to believe
BUTTT if anyone can do its Andrew Yang
I'll vote for him!
We need this guy as President.
I get that ppl get scared when thinking about a NEW, UNKNOWN, third option. I do too. But Yang is one of the few politicians that seem actually knowledgeable, thinking critically, and trying to actually solve problems instead of just navigating the politics game. Just saying
Love seeing Yang on my screen again. Not Left, Not Right, Forward.
Amazing video, really loved it!
is Andrew still in favor of UBI?
Yes
@@drsmetal2747 then why isn't on the Forward Party platform?
@@TheeDavidDee In order for it to have a chance at becoming a reality, the system must be fixed. As he said, nothing can get done until then.
At the speed at which AI is moving a UBI is inevitable.
Is she serious?
She seems nieve
no, it's in her interest to shoot down on the idea because having a competitive election is not in her interest. She's an incumbent Representative, and is pretty much getting shoehorned into a Senate seat. If RCV passes statewide, she'll have to actually appeal to the voters instead of just the party leaders
Perhaps. But I bet she knows how to spell "naive".
Fantastic job on this one.
I actually have alot of hope hearing Andrew speak. I really wish he was our president.
Love Yang
Andrew Yang was that hero... And democrats barely accepted him
Poverty levels haven't changed because the METRICS have not changed - the actual buying power and ability to have good food and health care and a home HAVE changed and there are MORE in poverty who are working full time - like our military! Like Teachers !

All the old people crusade against UBI. They have no problem with us sending billions to other countries every year, not even counting the war, but God forbid we help our own people.

He would be a good President if we could get him back, we also need to put people in Senate and the House that are in his way of thinking or will be voting against him later.. Who is paying for these new handouts?

Brave is one thing. Technically competent is a whole other.
Actually just start petitions in every city for UbI to get it on a ballot that's what happened with legalization of a drug called Marijuana... so why not eliminating poverty all together right now... we just need volunteers to get stuff on the ballots... vote Creative society!
We need more than 2 choices. This lady is stirring fear that some 3rd party will be terrorist.
It's absolutely impossible to end poverty until we are willing to end war.
Like withdrawing support from Ukraine yes?
🤔 Explain this?
It seems like Bill is struggling to understand when he has lot to deliver. He's one of the few who thinks of the problems thoroughly and bring out possible solutions, they may or may not work, but at least does not let the problems slip under the rug. Bill should invite him to Club Random to devote an hour picking up is brain.
My hope, is that Andrew Yang will move forward to the front. He's well-directed & capable. My thought is that the Biden administration should've offered Yang a position, but it didn't. We look forward to his future.
These comments are like a breath of fresh air. Thank you for the kind words.

Three minutes in and you can already tell who’s winning
We dont need any parties that a bunch of BS ... I feel parties make it worse because I cant vote on both or either side I have to pick a side...that's BS
The problem is Andrews ideas are the smartest ones in the room, and people don't understand them. Only a small handful of people understands what he's talking about.

He’s probably staying away from it, because it burned him. He doesn’t mention it anymore.
It seems to me that we really didn't get UBI , what we got was really nothing . Where the trillions of other dollars went , who knows, but not the people.
Ukraine and Israel.
However the FWD party is actually addressing key issues that have been neglected for years that resonate with the needs of the middle class.
I will campaign for you again in 2024
