Yes, it was turned on. Thanks for video about this. I have not noticed any info about this from Squarespace. If this has been turned on without telling about it I think it is a very bad move from Squarespace.
I foresaw this already long ago since Facebook gave notices that they have the right to use images you upload to their website. That's why backing it up in personal clouds and printing is the way to go always to avoid AI stealing your images. There needs to be a program that makes a watermark that AI can't get around.
It seems that this AI theft thing is inevitable one way or the other. To be honest, that's what has kept me from posting as much on IG. The risk so far seems to outweigh any rewards I might get from posting regularly. Hopefully someone smart comes up with an AI blocking tool of some sort. I'd buy it!
We need specific legislation forcing these things installed “on” by default to be installed “off” by default. Until it’s specifically written in law, sadly it’s not protected. Call and write your legislators and bug them about it. The have to log the topic of every call or email to see what is “trending” with constituents. Make some noise!!! I do this often. 🎺 📢 🙌🏼
I’m wondering if they are profiting from any traffic generated by the crawlers. Kind of like selling personal information. Why else have it on as default.
Well well, a million thank you Miguel ! Just turn OFF that AI things.... what a bummer that is... My renewable subscription is due in 6 months, guess I will have to double-think if I stay with Squarespace. Let's see what other people think about this ON option, and how they see Squarespace from now on... :(
I'm doing some more research into this. Hate to be a conspiracy theorist but it doesn't make sense why they would do this unless the data is being sold somewhere.
@@MiguelQuilesJr unfortunately, we've grown to expect this behavior from social platforms. They at least have the argument that they are providing a free platform and therefore are monetizing. This, however, is different. We PAY SquareSpace for their services. They should not be turning on random things that give away our work. I've been with SS for for over 10 years. I've recently been looking at Yoothemes. This may be the extra little bump I ned to make the move.
Reply back to this comment with "me!" if your Squarespace website was automatically opted in for this.
Me - well, my GF on each of her sites.
Me! Disabled now thank you for the tip!
On by default. Now turned off.

I still think they are the best out there! Just make sure you turn off that setting.

Happy to help! Now that I turned it off I'm good but I can see a lot of people looking for alternatives based on this craziness.
ME! (Wow man, thank you. I had no clue)
Happy to help!
Yep! Checked and it is turned on :(
I use a different platform, but can imagine this is all up for sale. No doubt it’s in the T&C’s somewhere

@@MiguelQuilesJrwell you KNOW that the business isn't going to pay to have work done that doesn't have value. Nothing is free.
Thank you!!
My pleasure!
Damn i went to check and sure as sh1!t it was turned on too
See! That's the kind of thing that drives me nuts. Should be an automatic opt-out.
Got five sites / all were on.
This is disappointing. I have multiple SS sites. It was set to "on" for each of them.
Agreed! Hopefully this video gets shared around and they do something about it.

@@MiguelQuilesJr true, but makes me wonder how LONG it has been enabled for
My partner just checked hers and, yes, it’s on by default. MFs
At least you caught it early!
