Hey Justin. So going back to the manual process….are the framed photo images that you took or are they a “virtual mock-up?”. Also all these drop down options per image (size, paper type, frame etc) are then within the squarespace framework and not the printing company’s? I like the idea of limiting the choices to a few options to make it easier for the buyer. Would it be possible to make one/ or do you have a video where you go step by step, selecting the image, uploading it, building the drop-down menus, adding in the mock-up software, and the back-end bits, just for one image?

Thanks for these tips. I have sold some of my art here and there but I am looking at selling some prints online. Confirmed that this might be worth a try.

My pleasure, good luck with your online store and check out Printique if you’re in the USA or Canada.

@@AskMOTT I am in New Zealand. So shipping is a bigger deal if I choose to ship from New Zealand rather than also use overseas printers. I am currently using a website provider based in the USA I think (mainly because of the price) but I haven't tried out the store options yet.
I might stick to New Zealand market as overseas could be a tax nightmare too.

Hi Justin - thanks for all the info (both videos). Just one quick question: Can you add any printer you choose to handle the printing/framing /delivery or must they be from SquareSpace suggestions?

I’m just getting ready to set up my e-commerce site on squarespace to sell a image of mine that was just displayed at the Edward Hopper House Museum.
As always thanks for your information & inspiration!

@@AskMOTT hi Justin thanks for these great videos. can I ask, when shooting with different cameras (I use a Sony A7IV and Sony A9ii) you might deal with different size photos, then there's cropping which can change resolution again. when you edit photos to be added to your print store, do you always make sure they are 300 DPI? and if so do you end up sometimes upscaling/sampling lower res photos (maybe because they are crops) to match the 300 DPI requirment? thanks! fed

I am a total beginner as far as the print thing goes in photography. Though I have been doing photography for quite a while. Can you guide/ tell from where one should start? Where to sell print & how?

Thanks. Narrowing the product options makes a lot of sense and makes the product less of a commodity. Printique has always done good work for me wrt books, albums and single prints.
IP question: So how do you keep people from stealing images from your portfolio. 1) Facebook formatted photos are very low res when you pull them off the web but load fast and look good/OK on a computer screen. They do not print well. Is uploading at the 72dpi format FaceBook uses sufficient to protect your stuff? 2) plastering a name/logo/copyright stamp over the image seems pretty fool proof but kind of messes up the pix. How do you handle this?
Squarespace question: Does Squarespace easily allow you to embed a link to Printique in a website designed inside their system?

So much to learn about this! Ive actually sold a couple of my photos (posted pics on IG, person messaged me wanting to buy a print...had to figure out how much to charge).
I've been wanting to put together a site to sell online but i have so many questions! Do I just sell a hi-res digital file or prints? If i print, do I frame as well!? What if someone is in anothwr state and wants to buy? Do I print it locally and mail it? How safe is that? GAAAAAH!!
I didnt even know Automated Printing is a thing where I guess a print can be made in far locations?
I know what shots I want to try to sell but looks like there is a looooot to look into and consider before turning my current SquareSpace portfolio into a site where someone can purchase

Thanks for the video! Is it true, as a general rule, that if I want to sell prints I should keep my images withing the "standard" aspect ratios to make it easier with framing etc?

hass Adorama/Printque not updated some of the issues you mentioned to make the user interface for the customer more streamlined. IE:"Sold Out" VS just not there? This way you can keep it clean? Also I just checked your site do you not offer the FRAMING option and its just the print?

I'm actually currently talking with them about how to fix it or if it's possible to change a setting and fix it myself. I'll keep you posted. I did an updated episode about Selling Prints and talked about why I'm not offering framed prints at the moment.

Great video, thank you! Am I correct in thinking the customer chooses and pays for the item, the order is sent to you via your website, you then order it on Printique and they ship it to the customer? Thanks for help.

Automated print fulfillment doesn’t allow the artist to prep the crop, and place their signature on their art.
