I’m so glad you posted this video. I have not found anything IRT transducers on UA-cam specific for shallow water anglers. I normally fish skinny water, so DI and SI or pretty much worthless. Cheers!
Humminbird Side Imaging or 360 is basically the same SI technology it just rotates for you. and is the most beneficial sonar in shallow water

Hi Doug, another great video. You really break it down so us viewers get a really good idea on what your using. Your sponsors I bet are happy with you. Here is my question I fish mainly shallow in grass around a lot of laydowns and stumps. If I had the 360 on my trolling motor and missed something right in front of the boat and ran into a log or stump will the 360 withstand the brunt force of the object like my fortrex which will bend or break free? Also if I am in grass and as i move around there might be some grass hanging from the 360 will that interfere with the picture I get. Thanks again Doug!
360 pod is an inch higher than the top of the Prop. Everything I've run into hits the Trolling Motor Lower Unit before it comes even close to the 360 Imaging System.

Any of the Video will help but I would look at the HELIX Series...many are using that on Kayaks
Awesome channel, I just got the 360 and Helix 10. Do you have like a beginners video for the 360? Something that can help through the initial growing pains, or does it work that good out of the box?
Works very good out of the box but I have other videos on 360 that explain settings and control that will help you get more out of the 360 Imaging

Marshall Law Transom works just like the Bow 360. Better to have 360 Imaging than not!
+Marshall Law My 360 is on the transom and I love it. The neat thing is that I can see my trolling motor on the front of the boat. That makes it a lot easier to know where the fish really are. Before I realized that, I sometimes thought the fish were in the wrong direction. I would like better resolution and will likely buy a Onix 10 to improve that. My electronics will cost 3X what my boat cost if I do that. LOL
Doug, Even though you set the display mode to the front only, it appears that the sweep and display is still in full sweep. What am i not understanding about this setting? Getting my bow 360 installed tomorrow!!! Can hardly wait to get back on the water with it. Excellent video..thanks for the tips. Ron
Using the Front View just increases the display size. If you want you can Isolate the Sweep Area and only that will be viewed and reduce scanning behind you. But one thing I like with this is if I want to see the data behind the boat just change the view to Full, Left, Right or Back and you can instantly see the data.

I have a 360 on an 898 c SI and am a bit disappointed in it. I love the concept but it is difficult to make out anything that is not in the water column. I have been unable to find many videos of a 360 on an Onix in deep water. Do you have any? Thanks.
+mcconn746 That's on the to do list but I use it all depth of water. Posted images in 40' of water on my Facebook Page of Deep Water 360.
Thanks. You do good work. A friend who has an Onix and 360 took me out. The clarity is better than my 898 but still underwhelming to me. I think they will have to get a better transducer to get significantly better.
Doug, i seen that the 360 is mounted to the trolley shaft. When the trolley turns, does it affect where the 360 is pointed. Or is the 360 set with the front of the boat and it compensates for the turning of the trolley?
Check Out Tips N Tricks 115 ua-cam.com/video/da6trTUtGwI/v-deo.html it shows how the Bow 360 Imaging attaches to the Outer Tube of the Fortrex or Maxxum Trolling Motor. The Outer Tube does not turn the inner shaft is what turns so the 360 Imaging is stationary...the Magic happens in the 360 Imaging Pod and requires not turning of the trolling motor for hands free and foot free control.
Would you pair this with a good side scan for best results?

Hey Doug. will the 360 imaging transducer work with lowrance HDS gen3. Understand that Lowrance have spotlight scan to give similar effect. but spotlight scan needs to be controlled by foot, and a tad difficult in choppy waters
+Mark D' Costa Nope won't work. It's a Humminbird Product. Upgrade to Humminbird and you'll get lots of differences and benefits

Hi guys , I have a completely unrelated question to this video but I was wondering if all factory skeeter boats come with an on board battery charger or is it an add on extra. Only asking as I was looking to buy a skeeter and doing my research and can't find anything on chargers. Any response would be great thanks and also the model would be a tzx170 sx170 or a zx170.
Skeeters come standard with the MinnKota Chargers. My FX this year came with MinnKota PC Charger.
I am not an expert but when I compare the images on the 360 with images from other transducers, it seems the 360 could be made a lot better with a better transducer. Are there any plans on improving the transducer on the 360s. Thanks.
+mcconn746 Never know what is in the works at Humminbird. 360 is not suppose to replace any of the other technology but benefits from rotating without any need from the user to create images. It's fish radar. Most awesome sonar to catch fish when your casting away from the boat.

Doug would you put the 360 on the TM if you had an Ulterra? Reason I ask is the spot-lock is set and the TM is moving all around how will that affect the 360? I'm debating a Solix 12 on the dash, a Solix 10 on the bow, I wanted the dash linked to my Ulterra, just not sure where to put the 360 or if I can link the 360 to both units?
There is not a Mount for the Ulterra. 360 needs to be in fixed position to work. You can Ethernet 360, link and units via a 5 port switch and share to all units.
Cumberland crappie makes a mount, but I agree I think it would work better from a fixed position. I'm leaning toward a transom mount. I assume one of the 5 port Ethernet switches would be enough to link a Ulterra, a 360 imaginng, a solix 12, and a solix 10? Thanks Doug I love the videos!! I hope Humminbird is payng you well, because you are selling a lot of product for them.
That only fills 4 of the 5 ports on the switch so it will work fine.
Cornfieldcrappiegear.com has a great mount for the Ulterra. I have one on my tm and it always points straight ahead. It was a easy install.
Will 360 work on a 798 ci hd di si??? Its kind of a small screen but I have 20 20 vision..lol I am about to go get the 360 maxxum mount and a 959 ci di...any better suggestions for the money that set up would be around 2000??Thank you for your time and videos..Just asking because I already have the 798 combo..So I was thinking of just running both fish finders..Please let me know my best option...
+Neil B I have a 360 with a 898 ci hd si and I am disappointed with the result. I love the concept but the 360 does not have as good resolution as SI. I can see structure and bait balls esp. in the water column which is nice and they are in the rest of the picture but I hope you have good eyes for that. I will probably replace my 898 with an Onix 10. I think that combination is the best available...but it is expensive.
Thanks yes I bought the 898..I got a steal on it 699 bucks new so it works for now...I use that for 360 and a 798 hd si di unit for di and si..I have both units up frot with all the views on at the same time..lol I'm set..
doug, what unit is this---too many options for low tech guy. I can see its a humminbird onyx 10 but they offer si ci di ????????? I also read the comment about 180 degrees in front of the boat--if available would this refresh in half the time. I heard you mention fish if moves or vanishes it was probably a fish. Thanks
+charlie cregger ONIX 10 (2D Version) . I recommend running on full 360 don't isolate as the data is refreshed twice every full rotation version isolating sweep is a windshield wiper effect and takes longer to refresh than just viewing forward

Needs to refresh faster.
You can adjust refresh rate on 360 Imaging. But you will also effect the details faster refresh less details, slower refresh higher details.
