As someone who moved down here 5 years ago Florida already had terrible drivers who don’t follow the laws. You don’t even move over or slow down for emergency vehicles. You do that in the Midwest and you will surely get pulled over or the least another driver will tell you. People here don’t even know that you don’t camp in the left lane on the highway or interstate. That’s basic common sense driving and a major reason why traffic is so terrible here. It’s not the amount of people but the amount of clueless drivers
This is factually incorrect. Many roads in Hillsborough County have been widened and have bike lanes added to them. The HF Bridge, has plenty of space to give room for a stalled vehicle. So go back to sleep and stay off the road you clearly aren't paying attention when you're out there.

On the Howard Franklin, those breakdowns can come at you real quick. People are usually travelling +75mph (closer to 90mph). What could help are those message boards to state there is an accident or breakdown coming up. I used to work roadside over 10 years ago. Most roadside companies refused to do calls on certain roads and highways because people in Florida are very bad drivers (their words, not my opinion). Road Rangers cannot refuse unfortunately.

It’s safer for bikers to go faster than cars because cars cannot see bikers. It’s also safer for bikers to lane split (although it is illegal in Florida) because a large majority of fatal motorcycle accidents are from idiots in cars slamming into the back of the bike because they are on their phones.
We don't know the full story of how it happened. Could've been rider's fault, the suv, or a 3rd party. To obey the law is easier said than done. Traffic can obstruct the view of emergency, tow, road rangers, etc on the side of the road, trying to switch over into another lane with heavy fast moving traffic is also not as easy as the trooper makes it out to be. I am absolutely sure many of these officers when off duty have experienced such difficulty as well.
I got a ticket in Georgia for not slowing down for a cop on the shoulder. He said I was going 80 and should have slowed down. I told him I was doing 115 when I saw his lights and I did slow down.

The 'no blinkers" is a real problem!!! It is like they move close to you, as if to bully you to stop for them. A simple blinker works wonders. 😕
