Thank you for this teaching. I had slow start took a few seconds and sometimes longer. Then it didn’t start at all, After changing oil it started but still slow. I checked this sensor and also put oil on o ring and tightened screws well. It’s starting quickly now. Hopefully remains like this. Thank you so much. From Northern Ireland.

I am very skeptical when it comes to cheap fixes. I've, had two Toyota Camry's in the past, both being 6 Cylinder models. Skeptical but willingly to give it a try, IT WORKED immediately! how something so small can make a huge problem. Not done yet! That part that you sprayed is the temperature sensor, there are two resistors (for air flow detection) down inside the hollow tube that also need to be cleaned.

Depending on the quantity of air, the wire will cool down, or heat up, thus increasing or decreasing its resistance. Therefore you measure the resistance and you get the amount of air. I usually let mine dry for a half hour before reinstalling. I also spray down inside the housing. I think there is another wire in there. 2006 Toyota Matrix 4WD. You can also use an app like Torque with a Bluetooth OBD2 reader (mine has an on/off switch-I just leave it plugged in and off unless I'm using it) to make a note of airflow at idle after cleaning sensor. This will help you determine when to clean sensor.
Note: Before cleaning the MAF sensor, please do replace your Dirty Air Filter to prevent the MAF sensor from getting dirty again. There's no point in cleaning a MAF sensor without changing an Air Filter.

actually the "wires" dont do much, they simply increase in temperature as a means to give the PCM a reference point so it can notice the differential relationship between the "hot" wires and the cooler intake air to procure the algorythms needed to adjust fuel/air proportions as per specs whicj are stored in the PCM....I like yur vids but be sure and inform your followers that the neg battery terminal needs to be removed before dealing with ANY sensor
I like to thank you for your easy and understandable explanation. Just Saturday finished at work to go back home and the middle of the way which is about 1 mile, I was waiting for the green light at the stop light and when I gave gas to my Car it hesitate it so bad I thought the engine is going to go off but it didn't, I continue to go forward but I noticed it was running rough like never before, I was afraid that my Car would stall and proceed to get out of the way because I got a lot of cars behind me, I shut it off and waited for a few minutes then turned on and made it home safely today I needed to go to the store and you did the same thing, I like to thank you for posting this, tomorrow morning I will do a cleaning to that sensor but I don't have that spray, do they sell it in any auto parts store? Thanks, JD
Oh man. It just happened to me couple days ago when i came to red lights. I stayed there for 20 min n cars were coming n waiting behind me while hazardous lights were on, then move on next line. I was talking to AAA, but after waiting for 20 min there, i turned it on n i drove. I didn’t know what happened but i also have the same problem that my car struggles to accelerate, maybe this caused that problem as well. Tomorrow will try this
@@jorgedominguez1957 just came here to tell u said: man, u’r not gonna believe but it just happened again. I was driving n in the middle of the road, my car stopped again. Since i got experienced couple days ago it happened, so this time i behaved quickly n tried to turn the car on immediately, luckily, it worked again coz it was one way n holiday week so already bad traffic n i d not want to cause extra traffic lol. Btw, i just bought mass air flow but i also asked the mechanic n he said if u don’t have any lights on, don’t do anything by urself coz it’s new car so just take to body shop n asked them to look at it , otherwise, if u do smt wrong, they’ll say we didn’t do it. I know exactly what he's talking about I got a 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan that has this issue. It basically has trouble catching up to itself so is a tad jerky off the start. I feel like if I were to clean that censer it would no longer have that problem.
I used the spray to clean the MAF, things have become better for some time but after that the same problem started again (car little hesitates and shakes when starting).
Thanks for the video. And I'm not a pro but what you point out and spray with the cleaner looks to me quite a lot like a ptc or something for temperature sensing. The really thin wire that measures the oxygen flow should be in that bigger window. It still got a good amount of the cleaner but yeah just saying. Otherwise keep it up :)
Hi but i have same problem idles goes up & down Mazda Demio petrol 1985 model fuel injected is the car u are working on same like mine? thanks great video
My moms 2005 Nissan Murano is running a u3fff code and apparently that’s for Nissan dealers only, but the car is hesitating and kind of shaking. She’s already changed the coils and it was running fine but now it’s reading that code and the dealership told her it cost $120 just to get the code read..
Since getting my engine code read and it coming back as the MAF sensor I called another mechanic shop and asked about getting it cleaned and they said it would be $300 because the MAF sensor for Nissan uses a special type of chemical and cleaning it is not an option. After he told me that I started looking up videos on it and I see plenty of videos like yours with people cleaning it and they made no mention of any sort of special chemical being involved with the MAF sensor to where it prevents it from being cleaned. I’m gonna go out and buy a can of the cleaner and a screwdriver and clean it myself to save myself from $300
I live in California and since I’m moving and planning on driving my car to Wyoming I want to see if I can try to fix with cleaning it first. Hello, I have a problem with my 2003 Mercury sable, first of all it does a small series of things that I can’t for the life of me figure out the problem, After my car warms up a little and you happen to be at a stop light or at a hill and as soon as you press the gas peddle it jerks before it goes, like kinda a delay, here lately I noticed when I’m going down the highway with cruise control set at 65 going on level road it’ll ever so slightly slow down and speed up (like go to 63 and back to 65), and sometimes when you stop and put it in park it’ll start revving upwards of 2000-2500 rpms and stay there. No engine light has gone off except every now and then and I read the code it says “manufacture control” but that hasn’t happened in a couple months, also sometimes in park when it’s not revving up it’ll start revving up and down constantly and the car sometimes dies on its own, I went into the store one time and left my car running for the ac and when I came back out my car was dead and it ran the battery down since the accessories kept running, can someone please help me solve this problem!!!! The problems are starting to happen more often, please help me figure it out!! Thanks!
It may be some kind of simple sensor such as an oxygen sensor, MAF sensor, TPS sensor or other sensor. Is your air filter clean? It's possible you could have a throttle body sticking which you need to clean if it's dirty. Not having a check engine light on makes it more difficult to diagnose. You may need to take it to a good trust worthy mechanic. ua-cam.com/video/cOAYWVBfuek/v-deo.html

How can we actually know that this is the actual problem? Coz my car also struggles to accelerate when i press the gas or brake. It had body shop service n they changed the intercooler too. After I realized the problem, i went back n told them n they said it might be intercooler coz thats the only thing they touched when they changed the bumper so they changed the intercooler the second time with factory product but i still face the issue. Any suggestion?
I have a 2013 honda cr-v it hesitates about the third crank it starts then my check engine light is on and other lights I just put a alternated on today doing what's in your video should that fix the problem or should I look into the full pump it doesn't bog down or skip going up a hill or nothing but when I run the car a bit I shut it off then when I get back in it it starts right up and the check engine light is off so could the mass air flow be the problem?
I’m going to try this tonight. I have a 2003 Ford Focus and I keep getting engine misfires (P0302) and often rough on acceleration from a stop. One time the car just decelerated on highway (only once - checked transmission and it’s fine). Plugs, wires, and cylinders all good. If this doesn’t work - what should I try next? So sorry to ask the question, but I’m on a tight budget and am doing it myself.
This does not sound like a mass air flow sensor problem. P0302 trouble code is an indication that cylinder #2 is misfiring and is not getting the necessary spark to its spark plug. It's very possible spark plug #2 has a loose electrical connection on the spark plug itself or a failing ignition coil which is very easy to replace. Let me know what happens.
proclaimliberty2000 should I test for ignition coil problems then? This problem has been here for so long and getting told to just replace spark plugs when I already did by a mechanic just shot me down. Regardless I might clean the MAF anyways for good measure. Thanks for your response!

- but still have some vibration on idle and hesitation after fast/sharply pressing the gas pedal (hesitation from idle to 1500-2000 rpm, like if the engine is choking), but if I give gas smoothly - the engine normally gains speed and power.... also no luck of power from 2000 to 7000 rpm.
@@emigrant4life I wonder if you have dirty fuel injectors?
@@proclaimliberty2000 no, I was disconnect the fuel ramp with all injectors and they all spray rich and in the right way
@@emigrant4life it’s kind of mind-boggling how many different things can cause the engine to not run smooth. I have a UA-cam that I did on engine hesitation and I believe there were at least 45 different things that I listed.
I'm going to give this a try, thanks!
Man I hope this is the issue just bought a 2014 Silverado and I love it but I accelerate and It jerks im gonna do this before I take it to the dealer hope it works out man ty for the vid man
Update?
actually the "wires" dont do much, they simply increase in temperature as a means to give the PCM a reference point so it can notice the differential relationship between the "hot" wires and the cooler intake air to procure the algorythms needed to adjust fuel/air proportions as per specs whicj are stored in the PCM....I like yur vids but be sure and inform your followers that the neg battery terminal needs to be removed before dealing with ANY sensor
Why?
2018 Ford eco sport perking during acceleration after 60/70mph and already had the engine replaced because of the oil pump and engine failure.
Tomorrow will try this
@@kenantv7487 cool man, try it
@@jorgedominguez1957 just came here to tell u said: man, u’r not gonna believe but it just happened again. @@kenantv7487did it get fixed?
I know exactly what he's talking about I got a 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan that has this issue. It basically has trouble catching up to itself so is a tad jerky off the start. I feel like if I were to clean that censer it would no longer have that problem.
Helped a lot thank you so much
Thanks for this video sir,Berry good

Thanks buddy you made my day.
I used the spray to clean the MAF, things have become better for some time but after that the same problem started again (car little hesitates and shakes when starting).
Thanks paul❤
Thanks for the video.
And I'm not a pro but what you point out and spray with the cleaner looks to me quite a lot like a ptc or something for temperature sensing. The really thin wire that measures the oxygen flow should be in that bigger window.
It still got a good amount of the cleaner but yeah just saying.
Otherwise keep it up :)
I want to see how it works after you cleaned and installed.
The service dealer can charge hundred of dollars for this easy fix if we don’t know how.
I just tightened the jubilee clips either side of it. They were loose. Sorted not happened since.
Thanks for ur video sir, is helpful this what I need.
Can the mass air flow sensor need a cleaning and not throw a code?
Yup
Hi but i have same problem idles goes up & down Mazda Demio petrol 1985 model fuel injected is the car u are working on same like mine? thanks great video
Yup had this problem with my 5 speed 2000 gt celica hope this works
My moms 2005 Nissan Murano is running a u3fff code and apparently that’s for Nissan dealers only, but the car is hesitating and kind of shaking. She’s already changed the coils and it was running fine but now it’s reading that code and the dealership told her it cost $120 just to get the code read..
Doomzyy take the vehicle to an auto parts store to have it checked with a diagnostic scanner which they will normally do for free.
proclaimliberty2000 we did, the scanner came up with u3fff which is apparently a code only a Nissan shop/dealer can read.
I’m gonna go out and buy a can of the cleaner and a screwdriver and clean it myself to save myself from $300
Babs Yeah. they are absolutely trying to rip you off. Happens unknowingly to people every day.
If you end up having to buy a new one check Amazon. I just checked the price on one and they were cheaper than Ebay. I have always used Denso brand.
I live in California and since I’m moving and planning on driving my car to Wyoming I want to see if I can try to fix with cleaning it first. So I’m gonna buy the spray first and hopefully that would do the trick because I don’t know if driving from California to Wyoming would be a bad thing with the MAF sensor issue
@@jurnee-y That sounds like a great plan. Are you moving to Wyoming?
Yes
Thank you for this video
This guy rocks.
DO THEY SELL A BIGGER CAN i may need more than ten gallons!
oh. my. God... Sir, U may have just saved my Stang & me a whole crapload of money & further issues... MAF Sensor... nvr knew of it. changed so many other Intake platforms, but NVR touched ths one... let U know how it went later...
Hope it fixes the problem.
Mine was real bad i had to soak it in cemen overnight and then had to wory about geting the 02 senter pregnet
Well did that shit fix it??
Is it possible for the mass airflow sensor to be bad and the check engine light never going on?
How we sopose to know that's the fix? How was runing that engine before the MAF sensor is cleaned?
Drive and find out? It’s a tutorial of a possible fix. “Possible”
Hello, I have a problem with my 2003 Mercury sable, first of all it does a small series of things that I can’t for the life of me figure out the problem,
After my car warms up a little and you happen to be at a stop light or at a hill and as soon as you press the gas peddle it jerks before it goes, like kinda a delay, here lately I noticed when I’m going down the highway with cruise control set at 65 going on level road it’ll ever so slightly slow down and speed up (like go to 63 and back to 65), and sometimes when you stop and put it in park it’ll start revving upwards of 2000-2500 rpms and stay there.
I can't find my air flow sensor sir ..it's missing... I think my macanic missed while installing cold air intake.
I am getting problem while accelerate car not running how supposed to run
Darel Dias bro my mustang 2015 v6 has same issue when u turn on the speed then @ speed 80 my car misses for a second then it goes up 80 speed how to diagnose it I have cold air intake as well
not every car has one. some just have a MAP sensor
My car had all these codes mentioned on the video. Was making my car shift hard I changed the air filter that solved my problem
My Ford Focus MK1 2001 doesn't seem to have one?? It has the hard hose part just after the air box, but there's nothing in it, nothing it the pipe either. It goes straight to the throttle body with the throttle positioning sensor etc.. How does the car know the air flow?
Thank you I hope this works
Clean mass air flow sensor. But also check air filter.
I did all that too, and new air filter but its killing me so bad I want to sell it.
Matthew Simonds if it's not idling right also check to make sure no coolant is running down into the spark plug holes 😒
Perfect! ! worked on 2011 BMW.
this is why new technology fails I like classics better
true
@PGm issa maybe but the issues were much cheaper and easier to fix
Like my instructor said carburetors are for old people who wont die lol but they still easier to maintain
Thanks.
thank you Great Job
Hi, my 2007 audi a4 b7 has very weak rev at idle. I stepped on the gas and the rpm just slowly goes up. Before it revs up nice and strong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I know u said nothing else. not even carb spray. I hate to buy a whole can of spray for that little bit.
Then accept that brake cleaner spray will leave a residue on the filaments of tha MAF. Get MAFS cleaner only for this job and stop being a cheapskate.
Bro thank you for what you share with me , and i got the same probelem with my car .I got nissan cifero a32, vq enigine ,please i need you help this joe from fiji ,i 'm waiting for replaid.thank you and god bless.

Goodmorning,
My engine hesitate anD i noticed water dipping from my exhaust, what would be the possible cause of this. Thank you sir
Brenna Paulson It’s very possible that replacing the ignition coil will fix it.
Would any quick drying cleaning product work???
Neftali Garcia Not if it leaves residue on the wires. That’s why I only use mass air flow sensor cleaner.
My gas doesn’t feel smooth when pressing the pedal and I’ve taken it to multiple auto repair shops multiple times regarding this issue. They keep telling me nothings wrong. Does VW Jetta’s have this part?
Awesome, thank you
