You have gone to the trouble of telling us NOT to touch the chemical, then you hold the lens with one glove and the cloth with acid in the other without glove...but, Thank you for the very interesting video ! Keep up the good work.
In my lens (Industar-61 55mm) The first frontal ring turns for 90 degrees and then gets stuck and I cant get it out. I even tried brute force. Any ideas how to get i out?
Hello! I know you specialise in Russian lenses, but can you give me an advice on how to clean the rear element group of a Super-multi-coated takumar 50mm f1.4 with a m42 mount? There are no screws on the back. I’ve searched all over the internet for some instructions on how to do this but nobody seams to have tackled this problem until now. Thanks for the great videos, they are really useful, keep up the great job!
Helios 44-2 fungus: Take between 8 and 10 lenses. Remove front and rear element. Scarpe the fungus into a plastic or metal container. Add a little garlic and butter. Heat the fungus on a low heat for ~6 minutes. Serve with toasted bread on a vintage lens cap.
hi, thanks for the very informative video, can I use the same chemicals on newer lenses ? will it affect the coating for newer lenses. I want to clear out the fungus of a new Samyang and Tamron lens inside the lens.
In case it helps, ~25% ammonia is the same as ammonium hydroxide, and is often branded as just 'Ammonia'. Ammonia is usually found in construction and paint stores. You wont mistake it for pure ammonia, which is a gas at room temperature.
Hi, is there any chance for you to make a video showing all cleaning process for nikon 80-200 f2.8 push-pull? I have one of these and I need to see a video step by step before. Thank you!

as previous video very informative thanks you !
very very impressive detail tutorial for fungus cleaning , thank you so much to you for resolving my fungus issue of my lens.✌
Shouldn't the individual lens elements be marked on the edges so as to preserve their original collimation when reassembled?
No, it is not so sophistically made. This is a mass production)) 3 mln of pieces were built
@@RetroFotoHouse I see, thank you.

this video is about helios 44-2, not industar...
@@RetroFotoHouse Yeah, but this problem can occur with any lens since it's just cross-threaded. At least that's my guess. I don't know.
GREAT TUTORIAL thank you!
Ty
Should you also clean the retention ring? Fungus may still reside in there.
yes, that's a good idea
Hello ;) Could you tell me what is this tool in 2:38?

Hi, ammonium hydroxide is hard to get in my country, can alcohol kill fungus as well?
In case it helps, ~25% ammonia is the same as ammonium hydroxide, and is often branded as just 'Ammonia'. Ammonia is usually found in construction and paint stores. You wont mistake it for pure ammonia, which is a gas at room temperature.
Yes, you can use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. No problem with coatings on lenses.
will the ammonium hydroxide effect coated lenses?
No, it won't. It affects only organic substances
@@RetroFotoHouse Thank you very much : )
How do you avoid dust floating straight back in the lens as soon as you clean? Do you have any kind of extractor going above the work area?
No i don't, but few dust specs doesn't influence image quality at all
What to do if you forget the way each lens was facing, when they are not symmetrical?
2 front optical elements should be with opacity to the top, 2 rear-with opacity to bottom

Hi, no i'm not familiar with this lens
Russians make DIY servicable equipment, as Japan did once upon a time, but then went on to non DIY servicable or throw away items.
Hi there, If I can't find Ammonia Hydroxide, can I use Hydrogen Peroxide?
Yes, and also alcohol. They don't damage the coatings.
Hello. Does the ammonium hydroxide damage the lens coating? Can hydrogen peroxide be used to remove the fungus? Thanks 🙏
Hi!
No it doesn't
thanks for showing.
Gracias 🎉🎉
