Brando was just perfect. No matter his methods (no pun intended), he helped sell that movie.

I don't care what anyone says Chris Reeve is the best Superman/Clark, made so much better because of John Williams perfect soundtrack.

The brando stories are awesome. Love stamp's story & funny was he telling it. Very sweet that brando read the script for the very first time when they were on set ! Ithat he actually got excited about the movie once he read it & i know he got paid a lot but not only did his name get hackman finances backers but also i think donner sounds like such a great guy i mean every single actor crew person said they adored donner. I think his excitement as well. So i think this sounds like the last movie brando was into doing. Him saying no press than calling up all this press what a boost too. Brando hated talking to press about films so for him to do it for this one sounds so great

RIP Richard Donner. Loved his contributions to this documentary and especially to the films he gave us.

Cooper getting the role of Perry remined me of Michael Biehn stepping in to become Hicks, after Remar was originally Hicks. Cameron asked him if he had his passport in order and if so, immediately fly over to England to film Aliens, and the rest is history.

Ilya Salkind seemed to want to make a good movie but you get the sense his father Alexander was penny pinching like crazy and putting tons of pressure on his son to move everything along.

David Prowse, his trainer at 12:41 is the actor that played Darth Vader (sans James Earl Jones's voice).

Reeve was by far the greatest Superman. His Clark was a little too goofy at times. But his Superman was just the best.

That story about portraying Jor El as a bagel is hilarious.

Oh, absolutely. I wouldn't be surprised if that's why he agreed to voice Jor-El's AI for "Smallville". I love his story about Jack O'Halloran.

Well, there was a note added to the home-video releases of the first two "Superman" films, starting in 2000. The last part of the end credits has a disclaimer about fur usage as depicted back then. Personally, if it came down to the animal or me, I'd pick me.

The opening scenes of young Clark have not been outdone. Although I always thought it could have used more dragons.

The Russo brothers had the same kind of mentality as Donner - they were fans, comic book geeks, and they were going to preserve the integrity of the fandom. There were a lot of famous directors that never worked on the Marvel movies because they wanted "creative control" - they would have done whatever the fuck they wanted and handed the baton off to the next person - like what happened when Rian Johnson directed The Last Jedi. The Russos had an over-arching plan, and directors had some level of creativity, but there were some things they couldn't fuck with. So from different director to different director, they still had an overall plan that unified all these movies. That's what would have happened if Donner had control of the entire Superman saga if he hadn't been fired. And he probably would have spawned the Justice League universe before Marvel.
