Well done to your wife for having a go and yourself for sticking with the plane. I am sure that you will find that changing the servo frame rate will stop the flutter.
Thanks so much I will let her know! Also on your channels back ground where you are about to kiss the C-130......I am embarrassed to say I have kissed many of my planes. I talk to them to.....perhaps i am sharing to much!!??!!
So glad you stuck with it and got her flying. Yes, that flap flutter is crazy. Your wife is doing wonderfully and will be anticipating your moves in no time.
I tried to find the DT in the esc menue and forward programming but it was not there. Tried on a single motor and esc, which maybe why it was not there. Guess i will have to pass on the TT and or the beachcraft without not knowing how to turn DT off. Going to have to settle for a different model i guess.
congrats on figuring out the esc problem. I'm not a big fan of twin motor planes anyway so won't be in my stable. Say thank you to MRS FGFRC she did a great job. Looking forward to many more wonderful videos from you and the MRS, God Bless stay safe
Coming from an old glow pilots perspective. Electronic glitches and programming in general are my weakness. Thank you for sharing on how to deal with such problems.
My rudder servo came loose after the first flight. I seen it visually off and went to adjust it and the servo was moving around. I had to clean off that spongy glue spektrum uses and glue it down with e6000.
I CANNOT get into the right ESC to program reverse braking. The left worked fine but I have tried over and over and the right will not work when pushing the right aileron all the way over. My trims are at 0. I must have tried this at least 10 or more times. No luck. Any ideas?
Thanks, never give up on a plane that I know is a great idea! And I have been letting my precious wife know how much the viewers are enjoying her filming!
Are you going to keep it with the fluttering servos? I've had many E-Flite planes with the same behaviour and on most I've replaced them with good metal geared ones.
Well yes, This plane has a combo of mechanical hinges and foam so in my build I did not elect to apply my normal hinge treatment of Hold the foam Glue from Beacon. Hold the foam from Beacon is a great alternative to putting hinge tape on hinges for protection , just a this layer, it remains strong and very rubbery so it will not keep the hinge from moving. In this application it may be just enough to interrupt the flutter and keep the servo centered. Here is hold the foam: www.amazon.com/dp/B000YQDXJ0?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
A rush to production and poor quality control. A HH they need to open them up and spot test them. Don't just assume that China got it right on every one.
ESC calibration is something you should ALWAYS perform before your 1st flight on EVERY plane! Imagine if this were a single motor plane like your Avanti or a belly lander and that left motor was the only power. You would have been flying with sluggish power altogether and the results could've been a disaster. Might put the belly lander directly into the ground.
They should replace the entire wing or the whole aircraft. I see why I own more Freewing aircraft then Horizon. I’m real happy that I didn’t go with a Spectrum transmitter, I went with Futaba for line of sight flying and Radio Master for FPV.
Hi Greg, Love your videos.. as someone who self taught himself on video work of action items. One piece of advice a professional film maker gave me once and have used since.. point your camera at the nose of whatever you’re trying to film and just keep it there as best you can. 99% of the time you’ll keep your subject (or airplane) in frame and focused because that’s where the auto focus looks. Hope that helps! Happy filming/flying!
well done Greg.. you almost convinced me to reconsider. How does the Twin Timber compare with the Beech 18? You should make a video comparison . Do you remember the actor from the cowboy movies Andy Devine? You sound a bit like him as you get over your cold Haaa
Well I have both and I will need to reactive the DT and then do a comparison video. Thanks. And I am over my cold now that is my voice. To me I sound like a 14 year old nerd. LOL
I am happy you got your issue with the Twin Timber sorted out. No company is perfect just as no human is perfect as well. Rants are o.k. I have rants about motion RC, FMS, Dynam, and even Horizon Hobby. 90% of the issues I find are caught on a good Maiden preflight. Preflight inspections to me are essential to a good flying experiance. I can not count the times I have found loose or missing hardware or debonding glue. I have also caught minor cracks in the foam hinges and even on wings on older foam models.I will say by far Horizon Hobby has had the best over all service and quality of airplane from the factory to current date. I am a elite club member however and feel that it is worth every penny spent for the personal service and how quickly any issue gets resolved. I have 40+ E-flight, Hanger 9, and Hobby Zone/Park Zone models as well as FMS models I purchased from Horizon Hobby. Rarely has any issue not been resolved to my satisfaction. Sometimes the issue is my stupidity or ignorance of how to address the issue or not following the manual correctly. Duct Tape can not fix stupid so can I expect Horizon Hobby to fix it?
Up until this plane I have had nothing but great experiences with them. This was the first time I got the Well you opened it so you bought it. You on your own. They made it clear in 2 different email that the most they will do is replace 2 servos. It has always been pack her up! Here is a postage paid label! and we will either fix it or we will replace it! Never has it been , Well you opened it so we cannot refund you and will not take it in as a return either.
But all is good now ! Between , My friends, viewers and myself we figured it was an ESC out of calibration. Servos still flutter but that will not effect performance since they stop with the slights resistance from wind.
@@FatGuyFliesRC I am very surprised to hear about that Greg, perhaps things are changing @ Horizon Hobby. They have always been very good to me. If the customer service is going bad they will lose customers however until they do not satisfy any issue I have with a new plane they will remain my number one choice to buy all my hobby needs from.
Well I might the shot gun mic did a pretty good job at picking up my narration even with me out on the runway and my wife with the camera back under the club house roof a good 28 feet away.
Horizon Hobby does not care about the user. Cheap electronics period. Overpriced products. They are a pain to deal with. I stop buying their planes 4 years ago.
This is the first time I have had an issue with their E-flite product. In this instance dealing with them was not all that good at first. i am good at online chat but when it comes to real customer service , talking to a person cannot be beat outside of being face to face. In on line chat it is hard to properly convey your issue and it makes the whole experience empty. might just well go back to a recorded message and pick the right category then leave a message. For me if you are going to charge a higher price for something then the customer service should also scale up too. In their defense they are sending me out a entire wing set, servos and decals.
with mine BEFORE calibration you give it a little throttle and the left starts first then followed by the right. After calibration both motors started and stopped at exactly the same time.
Never mind. I found a video: ua-cam.com/video/WuwQF7ba34Y/v-deo.html However, I CANNOT get into the right ESC to program reverse braking. The left worked fine but I have tried over and over and the right will not work when pushing the right aileron all the way over. My trims are at 0. I must have tried this at least 10 or more times. No luck. Any ideas?
Nice flight even with that windy day congrats! BUT I dont see the purpose of two motors, even in my opinion it looks ugly!, I prefer the single motor timber turbo, much more equilibrated and sleek silouete, well thats my opinion greetings from ajijic mexico😊
Dude. You should of taken the free servo. You crazy lol. Who looks closely to the wing. Just get a razor nife. My omp bighorn flaps and ailerons all chattered. I eventually crashed it (not because of the servo chatter). I bought a new bighorn a none othem chattered. Made in Chyna servos.
Well I held out on them and told them again but without the colorful language and they are not only sending me 2 new servos, but a complete decal set and a whole new wing!!
My viewers were right, the left ESC was out of calibration! Thanks E-Flite!
Well done to your wife for having a go and yourself for sticking with the plane. I am sure that you will find that changing the servo frame rate will stop the flutter.
Thanks
Thanks!
Thanks I really appreciated that!
Your wife did a great job 👍👍👍

Happy Birthday nice vidio
Thanks I am 29 again!!! Not sure how many times I have been 29 but who cares!
Can you do a video on how to cut the differential thrust off? And show step by step on how to do so?
I will but give me some time. I have a few projects to complete first and work this week.
Ok, Thanks
So glad you stuck with it and got her flying. Yes, that flap flutter is crazy. Your wife is doing wonderfully and will be anticipating your moves in no time.
Loading one up right now. Thanks!!
Love your channel...
Glad you enjoy it!

No you will not find it in the forward programing it is ONLY in the ESC Avian menu. You have 10 seconds to get into it after you plug in the eSC.
congrats on figuring out the esc problem. I'm not a big fan of twin motor planes anyway so won't be in my stable. Say thank you to MRS FGFRC she did a great job. Looking forward to many more wonderful videos from you and the MRS, God Bless stay safe
Well thank you so much, we are going out today with so bigger planes for her to practice filming on.
Glad things are looking up with your TT. I'd like to see her fly again in less wind and with differential thrust working.
It will have to be in a week or more work and family demands will come first.......but we may find a way to sneak away...lol
Coming from an old glow pilots perspective.
Electronic glitches and programming in general are my weakness.
Thank you for sharing on how to deal with such problems.
I try my best to not give up on a plane until I have exhausted all that I know then I look to learn more!!
My rudder servo came loose after the first flight. I seen it visually off and went to adjust it and the servo was moving around. I had to clean off that spongy glue spektrum uses and glue it down with e6000.
Oh no , yeah they use a shoe glue type stuff. really gums things up.
Do you have to have the programming card or cable to cut off the DT?
No it is in the Avian ESC menu. I will be doing a video on it sometime this week.....I hope!
I CANNOT get into the right ESC to program reverse braking. The left worked fine but I have tried over and over and the right will not work when pushing the right aileron all the way over. My trims are at 0. I must have tried this at least 10 or more times. No luck. Any ideas?

Good to see ya got it flying, 👍🏻 Great job camera crew 👍🏻✌🏻
Thanks, never give up on a plane that I know is a great idea! And I have been letting my precious wife know how much the viewers are enjoying her filming!
Great, a cameraman is what you have needed for a long time. Now we can get some zoom shots when the plane is far away.
Filming and zooming on moving objects it the hardest type of filming she will do her beat for sure. God bless her

The is the result of rush shipping and high demand. Big up camera crew 😊

I always do with any other brand, I have never had to with E-Flite. But you better believe I will now!
They should replace the entire wing or the whole aircraft. I see why I own more Freewing aircraft then Horizon. I’m real happy that I didn’t go with a Spectrum transmitter, I went with Futaba for line of sight flying and Radio Master for FPV.

Glad you found the culprit! Calibration should be expected in a BNF, but never trusted.
From this plane on all new planes that land in my shop will be ESC calibrated from now on despite who they come from!!
Great, a separate cameraman is what you have needed for a long time. Now you can zoom when the planes are far away.
Thanks but my wife has no experience so zooming and keeping the plane in frame may take her more time.
Now you need a WIRELESS microphone....😉
Well I might the shot gun mic did a pretty good job at picking up my narration even with me out on the runway and my wife with the camera back under the club house roof a good 28 feet away.
Your wife is a great cloud photographer.
Well, filming a moving object that flies is hardest form of photography.

Per other people who have this plane, the ESCs ARE CALIBRATED!!
Mine were NOT and normally all Eflite are but they missed mine somehow.
with mine BEFORE calibration you give it a little throttle and the left starts first then followed by the right. After calibration both motors started and stopped at exactly the same time.
There is no information I am aware of on the calibration process for these ESCs. Can you provide some detail or a link?
