I'm 42 been smoking since 18. I did quit for 1 year from 2019 to 2020. I started again in the middle of the pandemic. The fact that I went 1 year cold turkey and fell off the horse, makes me even more depressed and sad that I can't find that will power again. Its a double whammy... but I have been trying to quite for the past 3 months.... I go 3 days without a cigarette then cave in.... It’s definitely preparation and mind setting. Two weeks ago I relapsed 😑 if I only found you earlier.. if I.. than I could see video about relapse and lapse. I didn’t smoke whole month. That was longer I ever made ( smoker for 30 years) . I was alone , and without special reason I took a cigarette. Then I thought... I relapsed so I will take another till I try to stop again. Two days after I was buying cigarettes like before I stopped. (40 cigarettes) Now I’m watching your videos and suddenly everything becoming clear! I’m so thankful that I found you and your program. I quit for weeks and smoked again and regretted smoking again. Been like this for months. Now 24 hours without smoke. I am really hoping this time will be forever. Smoking is wasting my time and besides it made me breathless and i wonder why i should be smoking at all in the first place...just for an evil sensation in my head.
People smoke because nicotine is a shitty antidepressant. Unlike prescription ones though, it actually works and that's why people smoke it--only to find out that it's profoundly addictive and quitting is living hell.

8 days of not smoking and was doing well. Brain fog for 3 days but then the agitation started along with hunger. I can put up with the brain fog and hunger but the agitation I can't cope with. Its not that I am bored with nothing to do and I go out cycling or walking every day. What can I do to help with with this agitation before I stop again. This is the second time this has happened.
Tip 1: Planning prior to quitting is huge meaning Planning well. Tip 2: Making it a habit to use (maybe even overuse) positive self talk so that it becomes second nature, down the road, may be my greatest assistant.

I live with my mother. Last month, we spent $450 on cigarettes. I feel like I am paying to kill myself. It's insanity. Every week, we say it is the last carton we will buy, until we buy "just one more". Once we are near the bottom of the carton (every 2 days or so), we begin to panic and smoke more. Or, if one of us is strong, the other gets weak (which is like having a built-in excuse to fail!). Any tips to deal with issue?
Hi Tandi, thank you for commenting. Since deciding to quit together does not work for neither of you, you have to make separate attempts and not rely on each other for this. One of you has to lead the way and be an example for the other. This should be you. Prepare well, think of all the situations or dialogues you usually have with your mother that make both of you postpone quitting and mentally practice how you will handle those situations. Watch the videos of this channel, they will help you a lot and remember that becoming a nonsmoker has to be something you do first and foremost for you. When you take full responsibility for your success, you will succeed (And your mother will eventually follow).

First week If I want to oversleep I oversleep, I cry, i feel angry but I don’t smoke. For me the ' self talk' part really struck a chord. I saw your Ted talk video a couple of weeks ago. Today I signed up to your newsletter and registered for the free webinar. I realize now that I never really prepared for quitting smoking in my previous attempts. Thank you so much 🙂
I've never smoked in my life but I'm still addicted to nicotine from vaping and I think this advice could apply to smoking or vaping. I think it's the 3rd thing you said that always causes my quit attempts to fail because my brain sees vaping as a solution to anxiety.
The problem is, i like smoking :( but it’s gotten so expensive here in the Netherlands, a pack of 25 cigarettes is 12,30 euros And i smoke that in one day🥲 and i know that’s like 4,500 euros in a whole year that i could be saving! And its much better for my health to quit and i know all of these benefits but i just enjoy smoking 😭 the only reason i’m trying to quit (starting today) is because of the finances..
Quitting smoking is like having a mental illness… like who the hell am I when I’m in withdrawal? Who is this person who takes over my normally laid back self? Oh, wait, my normally emotionally shut down, evasive, mysterious self…. Hum….

I have more reasons to quit than to smoke and because of that i am now 13 days smoke free. This is not my first time to quit. I love you dear you are looking very beautiful
I quit on the 1st of August.:13 days without smoke. The urge to smoke is still there but miss Davos reminded me to recall the reasons why i want to quit. I have more reasons to quit than to smoke and because of that i am now 13 days smoke free. This is not my first time to quit. I stopped smoking for 7 years at one time but i started again after drinking beer cos i have forgotten that i am an addict. Being an addict i am not cured of my addiction. One puff is enough to pull me back to smoke. Avoid the first Puff
Hope your still doing well!
Apparently you never smoke
And you don’t know what you’re talking about
I quit smoking already but i watch you for your accent, i love it for some reason.
