I saw this plant in really really big in the botanical gardens in Dresden. It is stunning in mature form!!! Absolutely in love with this plant! Hope you grow yours also as big!
This is one of my wish list plants to get at the plant fair on Saturday, and now I know exactly how to keep her going, great video yet again. Hopefully see you at the fair!! 🙂🤞🦦
Yes, it would be nice to have a video on the algae that grows in the moss pole. I am new at using moss poles. My plants were outside on a shaded porch all summer and had plenty of airflow. Your comment made me relax about the algae, but winter and inside conditions are coming. Whatever you can teach us about algae will be welcome. Thank you!
i love theese update videos. it's so much fun to see how far you can get a plant in a year. because of you i'm getting ready to make my first moss pole set up. i'm living in denmark and i'm so scared it'll just be a half rottet plant and a lot of mold, so i absolutely would love a mold video. I figured i'd start with a golden pothos, like you've suggested. and since i have so many cuttings, i can experiment og make my mistakes without having to worry too much about loosing the plant. thank you for continuing to inspire our plant journeys and make some of us a bit braver in our own plantadventure.😄
Finally, I had it explained to me why I'm not getting significant root growth in the moss pole. I only ever fill the moss poles to the top of my plant. Of course! Thanks Jan. I'm off to fill up my moss poles and apologise to my poor plants.
Wow! Lovely size up! You gave me some confirmation on what I was kind of suspecting about why my black cardinal and dark lord philodendrons are just kind of surviving, not getting bigger, not thriving; moss poles, greenhouse. Looks like I’ve got some projects! Thank you for the informative video! I’d love to see an in depth video of your greenhouse tips; mold, pests, and my biggest struggle when the plants are simply too large to live there anymore- successfully acclimating them and keeping them thriving! I have the baggebo IKEA (smallest cabinet) and it’s a struggle to make the plants fit just right to not block the fan, to not get burned by light, not block the light, etc.. and yet, the optimal conditions will be taken away outside. Not too bad, but Los Angeles gets no rain, especially lately! Thanks to you, hi Bradley!!! 🐈🌱❤️
This came at a perfect time Jan! I just put a tree fern pole together 2 days ago for my Patriciae the size of yours (when you first put the pole on). I love the updates!
Great episode! Patriciae is on my wish list! Can wait to see her get HUGE! 😆.. I saw one at the plant show last month, regretting not buying it! Thanks for sharing
Most of your plants grows so amazing with your hand. I've learnt a lot from your video. We have same hobby. I'm sorry my english is not good. Thank's so much brooow.
So petty now I want one. Thank you for everything you do and put on your videos to help us you are the reason I fell in love with the jade plant. And now I have three plus eight starts I'm waiting on. I just love your channel and all the information.❤
I love my Lil patriciae - she's finally pushing out a 4th leaf since I bought it from the shop about a month ago - she's so cute. I found a person via fb that had a large esqueleto and NOW she's got an anthurium morona UGH - thankfully she's holding it for me which is so nice!
@sydneyplantguy well, I'm an idiot - have you ever tried to assist a leaf open and end up being sure you "helped it" too early? It seems to be what happened - the new leaf looks droopier but I'm hoping it'll make it :(
I just extended a moss pole on a billietiae because of a root shooting out of the top, even though the plant itself isn't anywhere near that tall. I'm so glad you mentioned this issue in the video. I will be removing that today - which is great because it just seemed silly since it's such a slow grower and would take forever to reach that height!
So good hearing the information about the algae, one of my moss poles has it quite bad & I was wondering … A video regarding control of it would be fab 👍 Great video as always & I do love that plant 🪴 🎉🥳
Your Patriciae is beautiful. Mine is in semi hydro but hasn't taken off like my other plants. Unfortunately I do not have an Ikea cabinet so will just have to do with slower growth. I've been thinking about transferring to a tree fern fibre mix and then I saw this post which means it's time to make the change. Very much enjoy your content
Ok you convinced me I definitely need one now. I love everything you showed about this plant, I could use a slower climber my others are really taking off.
I do love the small internodial spacings and the abs on those leaves of the Patriciae. I own an Esmeraldense already which looks similar, so I went on Google and compared the two plants. Now I know that I do like the Esmeraldense better with its heart shape. Even though Jasons Patriciae made me really wanting this plant for some minutes :D So yes, your videos help to figure out wether I do need both plants that do look super similar or if I can skip on one because of my space limitations. Thanks a lot for those aufwändige 12-months Videos :D Cheers from Rheinland-Pfalz, Kerstin
Lucky guy, no pest so far. I fought nearly 3 years with pest on only this plant und cut it five times so far. I found a perfect alternative, the Philodendron heterocraspedon. Take a Look at this one, it is also extremely beautyful.
So true about the roots growing upwards my ataba does that I have grown in pot and they poke out the top wondering if just a cococoir pole or stake would work better so the roots just grab on and grow upwards 🇨🇦
Hey, great video, love the ruffles on p.potreciae, so beautiful! Thanks for this tutorial and well as entertaining video. Why don't you ever grow pink princess? I got a tiny one from my local garden centre and going to follow your lead and put her on a moss pole. Thanks for sharing your experience with us! Happy growing 😊
All the PP I have seen for sale here have brown variegation .... we lovingly refer to that failed batch of TC as 'poo princess' .... but I know there's some nicer specimen out there ...
I'd be interested in a video about keeping mold from growing on moss poles. I've only ever experienced it on premade cheap Amazon poles similar to those premade coir poles but I'd still be interested in hearing what you have to say.
I love all the Jans! I want a Patriciae... But I grow outside cabinets - with a couple of microclimates augmented by humidifiers. Think she'll do ok in 60% humidity?
13:41 The quirky-problem with patriciae is that "their leaves come in some variations", and I think in that picture is 100% different from your type of patriciae. I have three patriciae in my garden from three different sellers, and after I put a little bit of inspection, they actually have three different leaf shapes. haha.
Given mine is a tc baby I'm sure it will be a bit different. But also keep in mind that leaf shapes vary based on conditions. The exact same plant grown in different light conditions can makes leaves narrower/ wider etc. That's the nice thing about nature right ?:)
Any tips on how to propagate leaves from a mother’s in law tongue ?? I recently noticed two had detached from the main stalk and I’ve had them in water to keep them alive but have needed to trim the bottom of them bc they get mushy but they’re still alive and green
This plant grows like molasses to me. Also, do you have any videos on the Monstera var. Brazil you had 2 years ago? I might've missed whatever happened to it.
Are you referring to the Momnstera deliciosa brazilian form? I don't have a dedicated video about her but she featured heavily in my latest video where I discuss plants that don't need a moss pole :)

I'm definitely interested in preventing mold and too much algae on the moss pole. I know some algae is ok, but I would like less....
I have never been this early… maybe it’s because I’m up at 2:30 am😂💚
