Who is My Neighbor?

- Jesus’ belief was simple and unfiltered - everyone is a neighbor. What if we viewed those we don’t notice, value, or welcome as our neighbors and treated them accordingly?

Remember, love is not synonymous with affirmation.
And also remember all the hatred committed in the name of this repugnant deity. The one that committed or condoned genocide, infanticide, rape, incest, human sacrifice, and slavery. Or have you not read your bible? You know that god that tries to trace his son’s lineage (you know the son that somehow is also him) - to David - who impregnated a married woman and had her husband killed off - but don’t worry - the god that is pro life- killed off that innocent baby - that’ll show ‘em. Why not say “Hey I’m god” ? Rather that trace your lineage to that? How about all the sins that are committed by Christians that go unjudged while the clergy rape children, and all the blame that is put on foreigners because they don’t like their plight in life (even though there are at least 5 different verses in the Bible to love foreigners - and Jesus said that this was of upmost importance? How about all the children that die of hunger, thirst, and disease (which ironically the money spent on this commercial could have gone towards)? You know that god created (because he created everything) - but doesn’t do anything to cure? And don’t tell me it is his plan - any person or deity that thinks bringing this on anyone - but especially children - is sick.
False.
@@CharlieEarthRoastno. He's right. Love does not affirm sin, things that harm self or others. It names it and calls for repentance.
Hate is the word for universal affirmation
And remember - that religious acceptance granted in the US constitution is not an affirmation to thrust it upon the rest of us. Go ahead and worship whoever you want - just leave it to yourselves because we see the true message, hate, and condemnation that is inflicted by Christians on other communities that Christians do because it is in conflict with their beliefs.

Are you serving neighbor? Are you calling for repentance in Christ?
Or is the goal to trick people into believing their sin is ok?
Sounds like you are defensive that your values don't match Jesus of the Gospels.
@@lclarsen or I am questioning the reasoning behind the ad.
Jesus called us to love and serve our neighbor. Which means to call them to repentance of sin in Christ and help meet their physical financial means. Its not loving to accept any sin regardless of the source.
Jesus of the Gospels served, while also calling sinners...sinners.
@@lclarsen I'll be honest. Seems like the Jesus you believe in isnt found in the Bible and permits you an excuse to love someone into a life without Jesus.
Don't worry, the people behind this don't actually believe any of it and actively do the opposite in real life.

The second greatest commandment is impossible without the first one. People pushing humanism don’t get that.
The problem with this campaign is Jesus doesn't get us. Jesus saves us. Jesus transforms us. But we have to repent. I've been all over their website and they don't discuss sin, repentance or salvation.
@@doyleward9225 they don’t mention the Gospel because they are actually promoting humanism, not the Gospel. They are calling for Christians to conform to the world the way the church at Laodicea did.
He gets that we are all sinners in need of a Savior and to repent. We can come as we are but we are not meant to stay as we are.
We can choose to love our neighbor, or we can choose an alternative. And there will always be justification for alternatives. But choosing an alternative is not the job Christ gave us. It is up to us to FIND A WAY to love our neighbor as ourselves.
This video is the Gospel. And it makes sense that American conservative Christians would be the loudest in rejecting it. Reading the comments below, I am more convinced the Christians today wouldn't recognize Jesus if he walked among them and that they would crucify him all over again because he didn't fit their image. Those who have ears, let them hear!
Now do a video on sin and repentance. I won’t hold my breath while I wait.
I guarantee you'll need it far more than everyone in the video.
If you love someone you tell HIM or HER THE TRUTH!
I didn't see this as progressive Christian ad. It was obviously a "Hate the sin, Love the sinner" message to me. I knew after seeing it that Christians were going to be the ones offended by it.
I'm a Christian, and I'm not offended; I love the sinner, but hate the sin; as all Christians do; it's obvious you know nothing about Christians or Christ.
I am ashamed to say that there is no hatred quite as fierce as what many Christians call "love." 😕
You have no idea what love is; Christians love the truth of God and his laws; homosexuals/LGBTQAI community reject, deny, defy, hate, and openly protest God's law forbidding the practice of same-sex relations.
If you read the Bible you'll understand what Christian love is about, but I'm sure you probably don't read the Bible because you don't like what it may say about the things you do.
Christianity is about the truth of God; Read Rom 1:25-32, 1 Cor 6:9, and Rev 21:8-10, Maybe that will help you understand.
If you really want to go deeper read Gen 1:27-28, Gen 2:18, Gen 2:22-24, 1 Cor 7:2, and Matt 19:4-5, these verses will show why God made the male and female and assigned them to be together.
God is the creator, and orchestrator of love, sex, and marriage, not you, this Government, this society, and not the LGBTQ.
"The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me."
Okay, who is the photographer/editor? Something about the way these photographs look is artistically pleasing
Why didn't they show pic of Christians turning away from SIN....not those following into it.....
And what does a Christian look like exactly? And why can’t they look like any of these people?
Yes The Lord Jesus "gets us" and meets us where we are. We don't have to have it all together for us to accept his forgiveness. But we have to confess that He is Lord, the one and only God, and we must confess that we are sinners saved by His grace. 1John 1:8-10 "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." If we claim we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar and His word is not in us." 1Peter 4:18 "If it is hard for the righteous to be saved what will become of the ungodly and sinner?" Jesus "saves us" so we can spend eternity with Him, as opposed to eternal damnation separated from God.

Here's an improved version of your text:
If you believe in a Jesus who only ever loves everyone and never expresses anger, then that's a misrepresentation. If your image of Jesus validates people in their sin without calling them to repentance, that's not the true Jesus. If your Jesus promises heaven but doesn't warn of the consequences of hell, that's a distorted view. If your Jesus is always portrayed as a gentle lamb, but never as a roaring lion, that's an incomplete picture.
Jesus came 2000 years ago as a suffering servant, laying down his life as an atoning sacrifice for his followers. He is prophesied to return as a conquering King of Kings, causing a cosmic upheaval. He will vanquish his enemies swiftly in pure, righteous judgment. His return is to judge and wage war, to strike down the nations and rule them with an iron scepter. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God. He has not come to bring peace, but a sword. This is the true depiction of Jesus, the Baptizer with the Holy Spirit and the Resurrection and the Life.
When will humanity stop believing in lies?

Repent and TURN AWAY FROM SIN.
How many times should I forgive? …… Jesus replied seventy times seven.
What exactly does Jesus, God Almighty, get about us? He gets that we are sinner and slaves to the sin nature. He gets that sin manifests itself in all kinds of ways in a persons life,, whether it is greed or lying or hatred or sexual immorality. We call the sin nature "being human", or "no ones perfect" or "everyone makes mistakes". We dont call it sin when we do what we no wrong and don't stop being it. We call it being human. He gets that we love our sin, and He gets that without Him drawing us to Himself, no one wants Him. Thus He took on His wrath, in our place, to respond to the sin nature. Through Him, sin and death was overcome, and He now offers that victory to any and all who will believe that He is God alone and requires repentance (acknowledging the breaking of His 10 commandments, realizing the wrong of it, asking forgiveness for willfully doing wrong against Him, receiving Him as Lord of their entire life and stopping sinning).
We dont come to Him out of desire. No one does and no one ever will while they/we remain sinful and reject His call to repentance. HE GETS THAT WE CANT STOP SINNING WITHOUT HIM. He gets that we can never just be perfect and do good of our own will. We do things we know we shouldn't. We are controlled by emotions that we know are wrong. We have desires that we know is outside His will for creation. We struggle to let go of relationships, habits and lifestyles that we know aren't pleasing to Him. We do things without even realizing the harm they cause (whether now or down the road), and we have no intention to stop in our hearts no matter how hard we try. Thus it is said that a person is a recovering alcoholic rather is freed from alcoholism. Apply that to most things we struggle with in life and we acknowledge those short comings (weakness) linger in the background no matter how hard we try to do better. That us the power of Sin that He overcame with His death and resurrection.
He gets that we are sinners unable to change ourselves and obey His perfect will without Him intervening and us accepting His call to be free from sin and be forguvrn (however sin manifests itself in our lives). All humans are born in sin, thus a person can say they were born however they claim. They are right, and Jesus said we all should repent and be freed from the slavery and hold of sin.
He gets us, and He says "repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand." Now that we know He gets that we are sinful and offers the solution of repentance in faith, how will we respond?
He is holy and can never be in the presence of sin. Thus He clothed Himself in flesh so we could see Him, touch Him, speak with Him and no be destroyed in our sinful flesh by His holy existence.
The commercial presents a Jesus who is all accepting without telling the whole truth. We must acknowledge sin, what and why He did and truly repent. Otherwise, we choose to remain spiritually dead in our sin and apart from Him. He is coming back sooner than we think and the hell that is daily being unleashed on humanity is visible to all.
May we repent, for He gets that no one wants Him. By in large, most people want into His kingdom, but by in large, no one wants to enter in His way of faith with repentance. His Will be done. ❤😑

So you're against gay relationships, abortions, being promiscuous, using God's name is vain, and many other things Jesus would not approve of? Because these are the things Christians are accused of being hateful.
First of all, I don’t see an angry mob of Christians as being behind the moral decay in our society.
If you are not religious though, you may not know that Jesus said that if anyone would follow Him they need to deny themselves and seek Him. That is the opposite of the Humanistic propaganda that the He Gets Us ad campaign is promoting. Jesus made it clear that the only way to love others is to love Him first and foremost and without that we will be unable to love others. The admonition to love God is a reference to the first half of the 10 commandments. The admonition to love your neighbor is a reference to the last half of those commandments. And yet when you compare what scripture says it means to love others to what He Gets Us says it is, there is no correlation. They are just hoping their audience responds emotionally with a knee jerk reaction instead of reading the Bible.
The "uproar" is about sin! Christ does NOT accept everyone! This video preaches tolerance of sin and Christ does NOT tolerate that! In fact, the bible teaches that Christ will judge sin and cast MANY into Hell for it!

Their Education is also strong, with a total of around 139,000 facilities worldwide, providing quality education to 70 Million students.
There is so much more, and I suggest that you look into it.
While it is nice to serve/help others, the people who make these "He Gets Us" ads conflate being a polite, courteous, generous, or generally helpful person with the Gospel message that Jesus taught.
The truth is that no good deed will ever be commendable to God, our Father. You can take the greatest examples of moral character in human history (say, Mother Theresa, Ghandi, MLK, etc. for example), combine them into a super person, and their good deeds still wouldn't be enough to get into heaven to be with God because His standard is absolute moral perfection. No one, and I mean no one, has ever reached moral perfection. We have all lied, stolen, envied, disobeyed our parents, lusted, and/or hated others. Some of us have committed heinous crimes such as rape or even murder, but we all have done bad things we know we shouldn't have done, or sinned. The just punishment for one sin, no matter how small or big, is eternal because we sin against a Holy God, who is also eternal. When we die, we will be judged as sinners and be condemned by God to spend an eternity in a terrible place called Hell, where we will be tortured day and night by God himself because of our sin.
Fortunately, God doesn't want us to go to Hell. He wants us to live with Him in paradise, where there will be no sin, death, or disease. Which is why He had a plan from the beginning of time to reconcile sinners to Himself. God sent his Son, Jesus, to be born of a virgin, live that morally perfect life we should've for 33 years (a life you and I couldn't live for 33 seconds), voluntary take the punishment we deserved by dying a gruesome death on a Roman cross, and raise from the dead, proving He was the Son of God.
What you must do to receive forgiveness of your sins is to repent (agree with God that you are a sinner headed for Hell/that your sin is wrong/God is Holy and righteous) and believe the Gospel (trust in Jesus and ask Him to forgive you of your sins). If you do this, by the authority of the scriptures, you will be saved from Hell and you will go to heaven to live with God when you die.
God promises that he will no longer look at your sin because he will be looking at Jesus' righteousness. When you believe in Jesus, God the Father treats you as if you lived Jesus' life because He treated Jesus as if he lived your life. This is called the great exchange. Jesus also promises he will send God's Spirit (the Holy Spirit/Ghost) to live inside your heart to help you follow Jesus. You won't do it perfectly, but you will follow Jesus to at least some degree, not to be loved by Him, but because He will have changed you and you will love Him/want to please him.
I pray that you all see this comment and that if you are not saved, that you will become saved. Blessings 🙏🏾
Well said!
It’s too bad 5.5 billion people right now will be going to hell. And of the 2.3 billion going to heaven many are terrible people. There are even military officials who have ordered the deaths of thousands and the total ruin of millions but love Jesus so they’ll have paradise while those they destroy will forever suffer in eternal damnation. It makes total sense that god would create so many people in so many environments but only those born into Christianity or the few who stumble into it later will be saved. Why bother with all the extras I wonder? So Christians can feel better about themselves no matter how judgmental, cruel and even brutal they can be?
Yes..and repent = turn from your sins
@joeycad I disagree with that definition of repentance. Turning from sin is the fruit of repentance (and a necessary one at that), per Matt. 3:8. Repentance comes from the word "metanoia", which means "a change of mind". Repentance is a change of mind about who we are (hellbound sinners who can do no good) and who God is (Holy/just judge who is perfect and has a perfect standard of holiness). The fruit of our repentance is a changed life, such as turning from sin/turning to righteousness (as imperfect as it will be).
If we define repentance as simply a turning from sin, it might confuse the hearer into believing that in order to be saved, they must do a work of holiness first. The law and the Gospel, and I would even argue sanctification and the Gospel, are explicitly distinct categories that should never be conflated. That's Roman Catholicism's entire problem.
No shade, just wanna clarify this point 🙏🏾
@@ataxcollector695 yes, turn your mind from sin and your life follows, walking minute by minute in faith, no " works" of our own.
Feet washing is for the church. To Love those outside is to ask for full repentance ( baptism)
Jesus never said you had to be baptized, he said you must believe he is your Lord and Savior in order to be saved.
@@KrisD007 Peter said to repent and be baptized , Spiritual baptism.
@@KrisD007 But far from backing down, Jesus repeats the point (John 3:5), yet he does so in such a way that he expands on “born again,” turning it into “born of water and the Spirit,”
Jesus said you must be "Born of water"( enter into his fellowship of love) "and of spirit"( expressing that love in our lives as we go out into the world)
Yes Lord. Billions spent to get the word out. Love ❤️ you Jesus
STOP HATE
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Jesus loved us enough to warn us to repent from our sins - having your feet washed is not what will forgive your sins or keep you from going to hell - to be saved you need to repent from sin and have faith in Jesus. This stupid channel is creating a false Jesus. Read the Bible.
This commercial actually scared me
The “He Gets Us” ad campaign is paid for the Servant Foundation, an organization that has donated over $50 million to a Christian legal advocacy group called the Alliance Defending Freedom. Here is a short list of some of the legal outcomes that were paid for by the SAME PEOPLE who paid for this video:
In Rutan-Ram v. Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, the Alliance Defending Freedom is currently defending a publicly funded Christian adoption agency that does not allow Jewish people to adopt or foster children.
In Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, they overturned the constitutional right to an abortion that existed in the United States from 1973 to 2022. States can now severely restrict abortion, or even ban it entirely. In more than a dozen states, abortion is now illegal.
In Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, they defended a business owner who refuses to serve gay people.
In Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores Incorporated, they successfully argued that a business can refuse to cover birth control in its health insurance plans, thereby giving corporations financial leverage over their employees’ medical decisions. The billionaire founder of Hobby Lobby, David Green, paid money for you to see this video.
You lost me when you starting lying. Abortion has never been a right. LIFE IS A RIGHT. Furthermore, you have alot of expectations of other people. You're entitlement is disgusting. In fact you're free to go straight to hell, but I will not support it. Everyone is responsible for their own words, actions and choices.
Okay maybe they aren't so bad

whenever I see false teachers, I am reminded why I am a Catholic.
Hmm… Catholicism has had its share of problems and controversy as well as heretical teachings. Don’t deceive yourself dear brother
Oh, for shame. The church and its followers that have turned a blind eye to all the children that have gotten raped by their clergy and your church used political power to protect them and make sure that that the ones that committed or his these despicable acts went unpunished? You mean the church that signed treaties with the N#zis in Germany or the Fasc!sts in Italy?
So are you the Catholic that turns a blind eye to all the sins they’ve committed against children? Or about all the destruction they have caused throughout history to include their treaties with dictators?
Uhm, it's far more likely that you are a catholic because your parents are/were catholic!
I'm reminded why i left catholicism lol
Jesus does MUCH MORE than just 'get us,' He SAVES us. He has sent an invitation for you to join Him in eternal life, but you can't keep ignoring it. RESPOND to the invitation, REPENT and leave your life of sin, put God at the center of your life. Don't say you'll do it TOMORROW, you don't know if you even HAVE another tomorrow, there's no better time to get right with God than RIGHT NOW.
It's all about control.
Always has been, always will be.

Too bad the messengers are hypocrites who don't practice what they preach, and wasted a bunch of $ just for the target audience to call them on it.

I’m not a Christian but holy shit is this placed fucked if even religious conservatives are sponsoring woke ads. That’s a new level of brainwashing for me.
Same arguments, different day. The "message" will always be buried by the controversies. Humans and religion are an impossible combination.
I'm so glad I'm out of that cult.
Humans and religion are an inevitable* combination.
FTFY. What religion do you practice now? I'm assuming you practice secular progressivism, but I'd be open to being wrong.
@AffectionateAcorn-xc9jf I've seen this response a lot, and i still cant understand why you think its a burn at all.
It implies that you wouldn't have any morals at all if you weren't told what to believe, because "choosing" morals is bad from your perspective. That implies the only thing keeping you from doing horrible things is that morals were forced upon you, its not that you're fundamentally good
@@newglof9558"practice"? I think you have a kinda biased view of what life outside of religion looks like. We dont practice anything, aside from checking in with our own values when we are making a difficult choice. There's not a book or a universally accepted ruleset to 'practice'
@@mrueck834 The problem is that you atheists CANNOT explain why you follow morals or where they came from! You just claim, "it's good for society" but you never explain why. Why do humans have morals but animals do not and why is one good? Who decides what is good?
maybe they are trying to reach the "christians" who treat others like trash? Why do some of you have to be just as bad as the worst Christian? Irony at it's finest. I for one was glad when they showed these. I sat there knowing my christian family who has judged me since coming out were watching this. These commercials from them were the only ones they sat in complete silence in.
So many “Christians” are lacking love and acceptance of others, pure hypocrisy on their part. I am not a Christian but I love and accept others who are different than myself. I’m always concerned at the organizations tied to these commercials and what their true intentions are. I hope your family learns to love you for who you are.
Except this isn't biblical, this campaign is run by prosperity preachers (the rich and greedy, "God wants the best for me" kind of Christians)

They aren't. Look this up, they spent a ton of $ on market research to target young people who aren't going to church. But they knew they were being marketed to, and are not happy that $ is being wasted instead of actually helping people. Then you see who's funding it, and it's a bunch of hypocrites who don't practice what they preach. Actually actively working against some of their targets rights. And yours.

You know, Occam's Razor is very useful. It's far more likely that rather than rising from the dead, he didn't actually die and was just in some kind of coma. Even today, doctors sometimes declare somebody dead only to have them "wake up" later. If we can make such mistakes today, how much more likely were such mistakes back then!
Not possible. The Romans were quite good at killing people. Jesus also demonstrated haemothorax. This isn't a condition one can recover from. He was dead, then came back to life.
people who were crucified didn't go into comas. it was a terrible form of execution.
But we have no evidence for this theory, and we do have evidence for an empty tomb and 500 who believed they saw the risen Jesus. They saw this early after the crucifiction and James his brother, who prior to the Ressurection thought Jesus was nuts, became a believer as did Paul who was busy persecuting and killing christians when he met Jesus on the Road to Damascus and dropped everything to follow Jesus.
Did you not at least hear how gruesome his crucifixion. He got 40 lashes which made him look inhuman, and they put a crown of thorns on his head and also something that almost everyone knows is that he had nails put into his wrists and feet. That’s sooooo much blood loss, and also if your wrist is cut good enough you can bleed to *death* in *minutes!* Oh and also he had to walk so far with the cross on his back to carry it to where it’ll be put in the ground, which he had such a hard time doing it alone (he kept on falling down) to where they had a guy *help* him carry it the rest of the way, the last thing you want to do (if you’re looking to live) is doing stuff that would make your heart pump blood even quicker because you will bleed to death quicker.
One person writing what another person claims he saw is not evidence.
There is no evidence.

That's kinda the game-plan with these ads, to appeal to left leaning centrists.
