Saw this live and it was wonderful, got to meet him after. He was dead friendly and came and sat out the front with us very young fans . There werent many of us and it was so relaxed. One of my favourite musical memories. Cheers Steve.
Yet another song from the late 70's that is meant to be played at least twice the maximum volume of whatever you're hearing it on. The whole Spectral Mornings album is golden. Thank you for the vid!
This is an IMMENSE tune! .check out the keyboard player hitting the taurus(?)pedals with his fists,Geddy and Alex of RUSH are still tap-dancing on these 35 years later, tho' they only use them to trigger sequencers these days.
Agreeded. Live, there were three Taurus pedals. The bass player, Steve and brother Johnl it was scary when they all hit them together. John played flute and raised the pedals to play with his hands. Massey Hall, Toronto
John Shearer...only played on 2 Hackett albums but was his touring drummer for about 6 years. owns a drum shop in London England now. And he hit every piece in that set.
See, if he was going to play this kind of stuff on his current tour I would have already bought my tickets. The early Genesis stuff just doesnt rock out as much as this does for me.
Gabriel and Hackett did not want to go "commercial". The rest of Genesis did. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway was the style Steve and Peter preferred and it showed in thier solo stuff.

Turn it up to 22!
First heard this in 1981. Couldn’t stop listening to it. Brilliant John shearer’s drumming, too.
Great song, great album, and the rare sight of SH unleashing his inner guitar hero!
Steve’s Genesis Revisited opened with this last night at Cropredy - sounded brilliant in the open air.
Watching Hackett with all that energy makes me wonder if I'd ever see that. He can put on a show! XD

Saw him perform this in 1979 at Birmingham Odeon. so good live.
Awesome!
Was there too - brilliant. Also saw him at Wolverhampton Civic Hall later in the tour.
Also there - best drum solo ever...
Robert I was there as well. Great music
I was there too
Great times
I saw them perform this at the San Jose State University Morris Daley Auditorium in 1980/81! Killer small venue!
Excellent! Hadn't realised that was how Steve got the tick tock sound! And check out the Mellotron close up at 1:20! Great sound!
John shearer on drum, legend and nice guy , nick magnus on keyboards
A masterpiece,
Nasty 🎶💪

+torontotex I was there. Backstage. Great band.
Steve était important dans Genesis.
Cet album Lee prouve bien.
This piece always rreminds me Wind and Wuthering in feeling 🎸
More than Please Don't Touch which after all was the one that got dropped in favour of Wot Gorilla?
His soloing was never really technical, but his tone and emotion in his soloing always chokes me up...amazing song.
I presume you do not play guitar - SH is VERY technically gifted guitarist
He's actually very technical. What do you mean? He just choose to do other stuff
Gracias Steve... GRACIAS!
Mantaaaabb🎉❤
Más de 20 años escuchádolo es muy bueno

at 2:15 he really seems to be enjoying himself!!!!!! I would pay anything to see Tony Banks do some of Steve's moves behind the keyboards!!
_Frowning intensifies_
Già, solo lui l' ha fatto ... grande Steve
moog taurus for the win.
Great song....The drummer (john shearer) had a huge set...
The roadie must've had fun setting it up.
This would have been perfect for Abacab
To anyone curious: Steve is playing all instruments, simultaneously.
John Shearer is the drummer
Hackett, underrated guitarrist.
Brian May is the drummer?
Nice try its John Shearer
Brian May would be a cool drummer though...
The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is a epic album.
The only Genesis album that comes close is Selling Englund
haha, I know, the hair seems to May :)
anyone listening to steve hackett on drugs is going to have their mind blown
This is an advance on the Pink Floyd song; overall, I prefer "Spectral Mornings" to "Dark Side...".
@s0undch4s3r no way. not possible
Play on 11, to drown out Collins' Genesis.
I love China.

You're so right.
will be fantastic if someone bring this in better quality..., is totally amazing but the video quality is bullshit!
Gabriel and Hackett did not want to go "commercial". The rest of Genesis did. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway was the style Steve and Peter preferred and it showed in thier solo stuff.
Have you not listened to "Cured"? That was Steve's attempt at going pop. It didn't quite work.
Cosa non si puo' fare con una chitarra
What a display of mediocre musicianship.
You need to be more subtle about your burner accounts, Tony >:)
@@conradquek I take that back. Only the guitarist really sucked. The drummer and bassist were pretty good.
