My son... i originally thought of homeschooling him. He didnt "fit" right with PS! Calls all the time from the school. Reading comprehension issues. Math assignments incomplete.
One year he had a good teacher. The next year... horrible teacher. My husband believed that we have a good school system and he did fine so keep him in. I am the one who bore the brunt of the calls, not him. I decided to talk to my boss ajd switched to a later shift so i could start homeschooling.
Oh. He had a bully. They did NOTHING about it! He blew up on her one day. They got counsellors involved, police, and called both of us in. This put the nail in the coffin for me!
My son wanted so bad to be out of there! He now goes to summer camp. I dont blame him for not liking it. He has a bully and they swear a lot.. he said. My son is 12 and 7th grade next year. I told him no summer camp next year! We will figure it out.
Im a little concerned homeschooling him through middle school and high school. About science labs. Hmm... depends what really matters, right?
My son has ADHD. Hes a computer geek. Not very social. Reading comprehension issues.
He got "lost in the system" with the "no child left behind" rule.

I just love you and your family! Happy to hear that you teach phonics to your children. When my son was in school they used word recognition with flash cards to teach reading and it was an absolute disaster. How can you sound out a word when you have no clue what the letters sound like? So, I bought Hooked on Phonics and taught him myself. Needless to say he excelled in reading! He now has a Master's Degree in Nursing Education and teaches future nurses at the college level. All this to say good job momma with teaching your children! I've commented before but want to say again that you have very well behaved children who are so respectful and helpful. ❤❤❤❤❤

I would love to homeschool my children. My daughter has anxiety/sensory issues/ADD. We experienced hard times with her going to school and anxiety. I love what you said about focusing on their learning. I hate that the school system believes just because you’re a certain age that you need to be learning on a certain level and or measure up to other children. They all learn differently.

My daughter attend a small private Christian school we
love it but this particular school is moving to another city which I’m so sad about. Had a meeting with another private school love it small class size nice environment. They use ACE Pace curriculum along with traditional teaching which she need because independent learning alone is difficult for her. Thanks for this video, I’m going nuts trying to find the right fit for her.

I know this video is older but I am wondering why you didn't just stop using the online videos and pick up the teacher's manuals for your older son? It could have cut down on time. I'm about to watch your next video, so I guess I'll see it then.

I think it's super cool that you're allowing the kids to show what type of learning environment they thrive in. Kids are going to learn things. Can't stop that. You need to trust that they will lean on they're morals, make mistakes, and grow from it. You're doing great mama!!!!!

My youngest has a learning delay so the school created an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for her. Then the pandemic hit. We thought learning from home would have helped her bc she'd get one on one time with her teachers. That's not what happened. She fell behind classmates & her IEP has had to be modified now that she's finally back in school. Kids in her grade are all behind schedule educationally. Even the advanced kids who were set to be bumped up a grade level.
So yeah, having a specific learning program is key for every child. You do what you know is best for your babies. You know what will help them thrive & that's what I love about your channel. Be blessed always.

I am happy to hear that you are teaching cursive writing . there are so many Public schools that don't. Thank you.

I agree! Lots of things they will just put their signature on. Printing is rarely enough. To me, cursive is one of the basic things to learn. 🙂

Yes ma'am I agree 👍. Because things from years ago are in cursive. And the kids need to know that so they can read it.

We do something similar. My 3 elementary aged children go to public school and love it and my 3 older ones homeschool. We switched to ACE recently and I love that it meets them where they are at and they can do it mostly independently!

My kids and I are currently in our first year of home school, we are all loving it! Like one of yours my daughter was having issues just going and getting her day started, she wanted to be with Mommy but once she got there she was good. My oldest, my son, has ADHD and just struggled all last year and we had issues with the school in trying to get an IEP set up for him and once we finally got one they wouldn't follow it. So that is what lead us to homeschool and I am so thankful we did! He is a MUCH happier kiddo now! And my daughter loves doing school now as well. We are also use the A.C.E. curriculum, we use it for all subjects. It makes things easier for my oldest especially. He's not so overwhelmed with having to look at a big text book and worrying about everything he's going to have to do.
I'm so glad that school is going well for all your kids. It just makes a Mama's heart feel so much better knowing her babies are all doing well! And for me being able to be part of that makes me feel better too! 😊
