Thank you for doing this video. You are correct when you said there are not many videos for ACE, not may positive ones at least. We have been homeschooling for about 21 years. We have used many curriculums in the past and time and time again, we went back to ACE. We now have one left in school and we will never change curriculums again. All that you described about ACE is absolutely correct. ABEKA and BJU (and others) are great, solid, curriculums as well as some of the specific subject curriculums. What I have found is that we felt like the tail was wagging the dog. The curriculum runs the homeschool. We can easily put way too much focus on all the fluff of the high dollar material. The wonderful thing about ACE is being able to customize it to seasons in life. Some seasons you have time to add extra learning with the curriculum and some seasons you don't, like when your dad was sick. ACE allows the child to get their core basics done in those seasons because of independent learning and being able to put it in a clipboard and take it where ever you go. There is so much more to homeschool than an elaborate curriculum with all the bells and whistles. Also, I, as well as many that I know, have used ACE through high school with their children and they did great in College. It's not so much about the curriculum as it is also the learner (individual). I hope my comment will help others who may be having doubts. So much more I could add............

We are using ACE. We starting it last year when my son was in 8th grade and it was absolutely amazing. We are using it again this year and we are so glad we are, not only is my son receiving a wonderful education, it is faith based, there is on-line classes, modules, labs for science and the cost is fantastic!!!

Yay! Thank you for doing a video about ACE, like you said there aren't many out there and I appreciate all the info I can get before I invest in curriculum.
We are just beginning our 3rd year of homeschool and I'm strongly considering switching to ACE. We tried Abeka when he was in K and I loved it but it felt too rigid somehow. We are believers so a Christian curriculum is a huge bonus and I need something very cost effective. I was homeschooled in the 80s and I *think *we used ACE, not positive but I know it was workbooks and looked just like these! I'm thinking I'll go ahead and order maybe 4 paces at a time and see how it goes!

One of my girls is starting 3rd grade. After taking the placement test she scored in the fourth grade for almost everything but we weren't comfortable skipping a year with a new curriculum. She did get 2 gap paces in math because she doesn't have her math facts quite down yet. I was thinking about doing those a couple of weeks before she starts the 3rd grade so she doesn't feel behind right as she starts the year. What are your thoughts on that?

@@kelidevetter559 that sounds like a good plan! You can also work on them through the whole 3rd grade as well. I have 2 boys. One is going into 3rd, and one 4th. They still do not have their math facts all down, but e try and work on them for a few minutes together everyday during school.

@@dimockfamily8685 I wish the best for you and your sons as well! Can I ask for your prayers. I live in Massachusetts, a strict place for homeschooling. Last year was my first time deciding to homeschool my son which he has been happy about. I'm dealing with a little bit of self-doubt. I've been trying my best, but again I am fairly new to how things work, so I picked a curriculum last year that was in the form of a kit. It seemed all over the place and honestly I don't think it was a good fit for my son(everything was scattered in terms of books). Please pray that all goes well with our school district, and they give me the opportunity to continue to homeschool. I'm a member with HSLDA(Home School Legal Defense Association). Hi,
3 to 5 pages per subject per day. With my children I tend to do less as I have one with ASD so 2 to 3 but 3 is a good number. If he's older 4 is an even number of pages to work with as long as you complete your paces about every 3 weeks.

My husband and I were both homeschooled with ACE. I ended up becoming a public school teacher. My gifted son was struggling so I decided to homeschool him. I have kind of fought using ACE and have tried several "good" curriculums. No complaints, it just didn't quite work. He is now 6th grade and I will be using ACE next year and bumping him up to Highschool. I absolutely hated ACE math growing up. My son will do ACE geometry + khan academy to break up the boredom next year.

My son is 11 in 5th grade and really wants to be homeschooled! He was diagnosed ADHD at an early age and he really can't handle "long days" in school. I've talked to a LOT of parents that homeschool.. about how you can do a few hours here and there and take breaks. I plan to.. hopefully.. get out in the world and experience things. A kind of "hands on" situation for him. Yes, I only have one boy. My pastor is trying to talk to me about Abeka. His wife homeschooled all four kids with it. I'm hesitant. I follow Missionary Spencer Smith and he mentioned ACE. Missionary Spencer Smith helped me find my church. I might go with that.

Abeka is a great curriculum, however there is alot of busy work and a larger amount of work load. We are still loving ACE and my kids are thriving so much! I do highly recommend over a curriculum with a huge work load. My boys did Abeka when they went to a local private school for 1 year. I knew whenever I started homeschooling I would not be using it! 😊

@Michelle Wei I relate to alot of what you mentioned. My only child is 11 & in 5th grade and begging to homeschool. He does have dyslexia. Many parents highly recommended Abeka when I ask about Christian homeschooling. And I also follow Missionary Spencer Smith! Didn’t know he mentioned A.C.E. I was on his Live the other night and the chat talked about homeschool and many of the parents told me to check out Abeka. I’m thinking A.C.E., though.

@@Christ_in_ChristyI'm one full year into ACE. I hope PBI takes ACE graduates. I was recently on the fence about it and possibly going to a Christian school. They teach Abeka. My son doesn't ever want to do too much work.
Quite honestly... school is about reading, writing and arithmetic. Everything else is life skills and gravy!
I don't want to sweat it.
Seriously wondering how things are going with the OP family.
I do structure my sons schooling with the score cards. We "negotiate" getting the work done. I have no problem with that. I don't let him score it himself.
I like that it is an "on the go" schooling.

The company is actually called " Christian Light Education" so you can look them up online. They have sample pages you can look at for all their subjects. So you would be able to see what I am referring to in Bible and then see their Math! I hope that helps! 🙂

The homeschool teachers plan the lessons for homeschool children in mind, not for Christian schools. All of my children all learn differently so we could pick out the assignments that fit their learning styles. I hope you give it another try in the future. :)

I think his situation would be a lot different t from my son's. Thankfully his eye therapy has corrected his problem. The curriculum itself can be taught at whatever pace is needed for the student. The good thing about ACE is you can order just 1 single PACE for a few dollars to see if it is a good fit, before ordering it all!
