  • In this video, we replace a slightly leaking fuel tap. We'd already repaired this with a Tourmax repair kit, however, we just couldn't stop it leaking.
It's no surprise that it needed repair or replacement, because the bike has been standing for over a decade. Stale fuel messes things up over time and rubber seals deteriorate.
We ordered a genuine part from z-power.co.uk and, as you can see from this video, it worked a treat. No leaks.
Hopefully, if you're repairing your own fuel tap, you'll have more luck that we did. I don't know what the issue was. Were we over or under tightening? I just don't know. It was the smallest of leaks but, some how, the fuel was managing to get out.
Even if you don't have this model of bike, or even a Kawasaki, you should find this a useful video for ther steps undertaken, to replace a fuel tap.

If you change it to a manual tap with just an on/off and plug the vacuum ports on carbs, will it affect air/fuel mixture?

Replacing fuel tap with non-vacuum won't make any difference to the air mixture as long as you plug the vacuum pipe.
