Sam is honestly one of the most underrated and under-appreciated drummers in metal/prog drumming. He is the drummer for Veil of Maya, plays left handed and creates some incredible drum parts
@@AndrewRooneyDrums I'm old school perhaps. I'd appreciate it if someone did that for me. I love your content. So... yeah, I like, subscribe, and comment (when I can remember). I get exposed to so many different genres on your channel. I love it.
Hey Andrew, it is the correct use of shutter speed and frame rate that is giving that natural motion blur you see in the hands. 24FPS with a shutter speed double of that which amounts to a shutter speed of 1/50 (since on digital cameras there is not a shutter speed of 1/48). This combination of frame rate and shutter speed has been the cinema standard for the longest time since it is believed to produce natural motion blur as close to how we perceive movement in real life. Most other videos are probably filmed at a higher frame rate between 60FPS or 120FPS which also means doubling those numbers to get your proper shutter speed but also resulting in a sharper and less natural looking image (these frame rates are used so that you can slow the video down or speed it up without loosing image quality). Hope that answers your question Andrew!
Hey Andrew, just wanted to thank you. your videos have become a routine part of my mornings. helks gets me in a great mood whilst drinking my cup of coffee. Also Fish - Amir Bresler
@@AndrewRooneyDrums Maybe you'd like to check out any of the amazing drum duets Phil Collins/Chester Thompson in Genesis live performances, or two drums and a percussionist in the Final farewell tour 2004. Tried to post the link yesterday but the comment was instantly removed
Both of them are beasts. I feel like they're both using the same trigger sample, as you can hear their kicks are out of phase most of the time but you can hear random hits that align and you hear the full low end.
Luke, and Sam are impressive. One of my favorite videos by Luke Holland is Skrillex & Poo Bear - Would You Ever Remix ft. Luke Holland. He plays some awesome beats, and fills. I wish I could support your patreon, but covid has screwed me financially. Have a good, sir!
It's so weird to see two separate drummers performing so closely in unison that it actually looks like they're a mirror image of each other.... Insane coordination between the two of them...
Filmed in 24 or 30 frames gives you a more cinematic feel to your videos. That plus the depth depth lighting gives to his videos is phenomenal. There is literally nothing that guy doesn't do well lol
I am an old metal head. Proudly listen to various subgenres everyday. I still find myself amazed at the incredible talent and musicianship that's out there in today's metal drummers! Great video Andrew. Makes my morning to find you've posted a new one!
Pretty impressive. Sort of like drum corps, but on the drum set. I'm not sure what it adds to the music. Perhaps my partial deafness doesn't allow me to hear some nuance created by doubling the drum parts. But I gotta give them props for performance, all right! To be completely in sync like that shows real discipline and attention every note value among the subdivisions. Yep, pretty darn impressive.
Yeah, something about the framerate and perhaps the lighting gives the illusion the sticks are made or rubber in parts. Look at this live performance of Plini in 2015: ua-cam.com/video/IY63_QR6toA/v-deo.html Similar "low" looking framerate. The sticks are ridiculous!
Andrew, you're cruel. i just back up home after every friday rehearsal, where we are floating about some music piece. today you're giving two two guys that had eherything written and nothing left to interpretate? that hurts :v
I had the pleasure of seeing veil of Maya in concert.. truly amazing! I must be out of the loop.. cuz I've never heard this band have such prominent clean vocals.. to be honest, it's a bit weird
Pretty sure this is mixed after the fact to tidy things up. Admittedly.. both these guys are very very good drummers. But how.... srsly... how could the sound be that tidy on a real recorded track with 2 extreme drummers. Not sure that is really possible - especially with the blasts etc.... Mixing is fine... but I think it would have been more interesting to leaves the raw audio personally.... just my 2 cents.
those are sams parts in his band. and it appears luke is mic'd off and only sams in on thts why it is sounding accurate. luke seems to make a bunch of mistakes though just by the looks of it
I hope you see this one. I'd lice to see your reaction to this one: ua-cam.com/video/FlXxK1kUig0/v-deo.html All instruments and vocals done by a single dude. And he's good at it. Pretty badass, indeed.
Sam is honestly one of the most underrated and under-appreciated drummers in metal/prog drumming.

Been listening to VoM for about 10 years and by far one of the most creative and versatile drummers ive ever heard
He's insane
And getting better their newest album is insane!!!
Leaving a comment just in case that helps with your algorithms. ❤️
You're the man! HAHA

Looooooove luke holland! And Sam applebaum! VEIL OF MAYA RULESSS Left handed metal drummer with insane chops
Sam is the drummer of Veil of Maya! It's awesome he collaborated with Luke to do this 🤘
I really REALLY love Luke ...and the Veil of Maya album is mixed SO well.... Love the chorus sections.. melody. Just amazing for a Metal band.. =)
I love Luke’s technique. I get the impression he got started in high school marching band.
Hey Andrew, just wanted to thank you. your videos have become a routine part of my mornings. helks gets me in a great mood whilst drinking my cup of coffee. Also Fish - Amir Bresler
Thanks Steve!
Anything with Veil Of Maya and Luke “The 9th Wonder” Holland is audio clairvoyance.
Love watching your vids bud. Love the memes. Always watching from across the ditch. Ausland
Thanks so much Josh!
Holy freaking crap! Rooney! You hearing this?!! Can't even tell there is another summer lol.

Great watch as always @Andrew Rooney Drums
As always from one muso to another, much love and respect from Perth,Aus
Yes. I remember when this came out!
Dude love the mug and great video you got yourself a new subscriber
Thanks James!!!
This is impressive. It's like they have a neural link between their minds. They don't. It's skill which makes it impressive.
I love how even though they play in unison they have completely different styles of motion. Really cool to see in action 😅
That's scary good. If you close your eyes and just listen, you can fool yourself into thinking it's just one drum track. Crazy.
Truly insane. Amazing stuff 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I love this song, I didn't know Luke did a cover of it with Sam!! I became a fan of VoM a few years ago when I saw them play with Born of Osiris.
This is a Very interesting, they have the dual going as Andrew says... "Tasty" video..
legend of a video right there...
Such a pure mirror !

Crazy coordination. fiction damn it
Luke Holland + 24fps = motion blur = Cinematic = Aliens
HAHA Love it! Thanks
Love you dude! ❤
I love you Jay
Honestly you are one of my favorite drummers react creator's, keep doing what you do. 💯⭐

Both are playing in unison-mode. Alter Schwede!
Love luke H

Wow 🤔🤔🤔
Yup! 🤯
Aliens for sure.
Nice one
Luke is a very animated drummer. Fun to watch. But I must admit, I had to watch Hans Grossmann play some Blotted Science today. 😁
"ft. SAM APPLEBAUM" when Sam wrote the song xD
next luke holland covering song from VOLUMES band
Insanity🤘
Did you notice look missed a snare at 2:56?

Exhibit A on why you need to be practicing with a click if you’re a musician.

Original vocalist departed after the Subject Zero single. Creative differences.
mi casa es su casa
Ridiculous precision, are the cymbals and drum tones all the same? Crazy entertainment

Lower frame rate. Hides mistakes (if they make any, of course^^)
Thanks Tobias!
I hear some bass drums 'flams' happening, but it is eerily in sync. I cannot stand the singing.
I enjoy your content but your editing is very strange. 🤣
