'Katana' is available for streaming on all platforms. EP coming soon. We wanted to create something different, hope you all enjoy it. Let me know what you think!
Well shot, well written and very well performed. Need a few watch-throughs to check out some of the subtleties cos that's a fairly inSane level of precision 👍☺💙👀👂
Luke is the Tim Henson of the drumming world, he can just blow your mind with shredding but can also blow your mind with something insanely original and creative
One word: "WOW!" .... Luke, You are my biggest inspiration. Love your technique and all that skill you have. So much work you have done, through the years.
As I much as I love Luke’s drumming (which is still solid as heck in this), I can’t say I’m a fan of this song. It’s just some repetitive synth and bass with processed drums added over it. I wouldn’t say I would listen to this for value as a stand alone song, although I have watched it twice now just for the drumming. Mixed thoughts. Not to say I don’t appreciate it, and I hope he continues to put out his own stuff in addition to covers. Hopefully this is just a first of many and the music grows with him!
(This is more general, not just directed at you nobodyknowsrhys) For a song focused solely on the drummer, it’s a win. Especially as his first single. My hope is that people will give this a chance because they’ve known Luke up to this point to care greatly about every detail of his music/performance. This is literally his baby as his first single, but it still has to appeal to what people like these days. Knowing that, nothing in this video was an afterthought. I think he did an amazing job marrying his drum skill with video that was tastefully done and included elements that people generally appreciate these days in music videos. I’m sure he’ll put future videos out that’ll wow us even more, but it’d be great if people had the capacity to appreciate it from that standpoint (that he delivered his skill in the form of a crowd-pleasing, well-planned music video that actually focuses on mainly on the drummer). And I personally love repetitive synth that is completely livened by sick drums 😬
@@90stp this. Luke made the "repetitive synth" sound incredible. Just like how you can groove to a metronome if you know what the fuck you're doing. This really is DRUMMER music
Devon & Taylor Powell don’t get me wrong, he has a great groove and a couple fantastic fills in the song. I’m definitely not a fan of this style of music to begin with, so take it with a grain of salt. But one thing I always look for in music is some sort of emotion driving it, and I definitely can’t feel that in this. Writing your own music, especially with the focus being on drums, is never easy though. Like I said, I fully expect Luke to grow as he does this more. Even if he keeps leaning on the synth and bass feel, it’ll get better. It’s not like I’m gonna stop listening every time he releases a new video!
Thank you Luke! Hard to keep a smile these days, but when I saw the notification, i clicked so fast, and lost myself for a few beautifully bad ass drum filled moments!!
This kind of stuff right here is exactly why I've been a fan of yours for years, Luke. You've inspired me for a long time and a lot of the techniques I know now, I learned by watching and studying your videos. You are phenomenal, and this video proves just that. Excellent work, man.
Definitely want another US tour once the world settles down. Watching you play is pretty captivating, Ill be among the many to buy the EP as soon as it debuts. Really loved the work with Jason Richardson btw
Luke holland, man I've been following you since you were hella young, maybe 15 or 16? Back when you did some early we came as Roman's covers, or original woe is me. Man you have come a long way dude. It's so dope.to see you doing what you love man. Keep it up! You have my support always!
different sized kits to different kinds of music, everything has its place, and if you say that todd sucherman is not a good drummer because he plays big drumkits, then your're truly not educated enough.
You're an absolute beast! This really came together dude. All of the hard work you have been putting in is really showing! Much love and respect! Stay healthy ♥️
Luke! Great video man! Love the production on this, and that drum tone is really innovative for acoustic drums! Is that a 12” snare with a super low top head and very tight bottom head? Was there a huge ringing sound in the rim shot that was eq’ed out?
@@AllanJ...Batmo365 and u prolly worship Jojo Mayer for the same concept lmao, just face it, programmed drums are in, especially if you can play them live
@@AllanJ...Batmo365 Literally* way* seconds*... if you don't like Luke's sound, feel free to leave. He seems to be doing something right though, half a mil subs and a sponsored artist at 26.

Very creative with precise timing as always, sir Holland. Greetings from the Philippines!
Super crispy playing Luke! Love the stackers and hats
That production value. Killer work man!!
Okay, so now I read Cole Rolland put comment on Luke Holland's video.
Can you both make a collab, so I can call you guys Luke Rolland?
@@RTKBAND_ or Cole Holland
CR here 😂, im your big fans bro 👌, please make a duet Cole Rolland ft Luke Holland ✌️✌️
Its like if polyphia was all about the drums. This EP is gonna be sick.
*stick.
I think they gonna need to see this

Interesting
I love this way for selling drumplaying to the masses. Clever
Dude....bad ass bro. First time I've seen a music video with just drums. As a drummer I love it, breaking through.
His ass looks fine dude.

As sharp as a Katana. Damn man, inspirational for all drummers.
Video is worth 1m views for the amount of production put in. Well done
New level of clips featuring drummers🥁🔥
Enjoyed the playing....... the video, no comment.
just amazing, no words for that, i hope I'm not the only one !

Never has a drummer sounded so much like a drum machine. Sounds and technique. Sick!
You've obviously never heard of Jojo Mayer.
Or polyphias drummer
Damn I'm not sure how to feel with so much goodness in one video. The drums, the ladies, the swords, the lighting, *Luke in a red suit* Too much 😭😍😍

Awsome track btw, stay shredding!

Are there branded names yet for these stacks? :-)

It has been 6 to 7 years since I subscribed to Luke's channel.
sick drumming. a truly good drummer doesn't need 10 piece kit with 10 symbals to sound good.
But he does if he doesn't want to be bored out of his mind hearing the same 6 sounds every 15 seconds 😂🤷♂️
