I couldn't disagree more about the look of the IS500. As someone who appreciates a good sleeper sedan, it looks just about perfect to my eyes. The staggered exhaust tips, wheels, and hood scoop indicating something special underneath, are all that is needed imo, to differentiate the IS500 from a regular IS. I personally can't stand larger wing spoilers on any type of car, unless it's strictly for function on a track. Your loss is certainly that new owner's gain. Glad you didn't lose anything on the purchase though. Good luck with your next vehicle.
I agree with you 100%. He said “Lexus actually failed this car because look at the badges” I’m like… nah. Not all people need attention and determine quality based on looks. If you wanted that, then you should have got an LC500. Like I did 🤙🏾
It's a bit of a snooze fest in terms of the overall driving dynamics, and has been problematic in this case! Can't blame him for wanting to change it up, because this wasn't working out well for him! Lexus is usually reliable, so real bummer with this car! Not saying you were criticizing his decision by the way.

I wasn't at all, and everyone has to enjoy their own vehicle, especially when they are such expensive investments. The mixed blessing about this crazy market, is that vehicle depreciation is rarely a thing these days.
I think if he wanted more attention he shouldn't have bought the car in sleeper black . I saw a is500 for the first time on the road and I immediately new what it was . I spotted the slight hood bulge and more aggresice front and lower stance. A car enthusiasts is gonna spot a is500 immediately in any color , a non enthusiast is just gonna see a is250
Exactly! Like he didn't know what it looked like before he bought it.
This guy got it in black and he wonders why the body lines and dark chrome can't be noticed...

Except for one thing (fuel economy) the IS500 seems like the perfect daily driver. Large enough to not be cramped, yet small enough for city driving. Looks great, comfy seats, nice stereo system, quiet comfy ride and power on tap from an awesome V8 when needed. It is disappointing Lexus didnt put a bit more sharpness in the suspension in sport+ mode, but I dont think most buyers of a car like this will be tracking at all, or canyon carving frequently. Add all the aforementioned to the legendary Lexus reliability, this thing would be a near perfect road tripper for 2 people...if it were a hybrid. V8's tend to do pretty well for highway fuel economy unless your trip includes a lot of hills...and the ability to tool around in the city for a few miles on an electric motor would greatly increase the overall fuel economy. I dont understand why car manufacturers are rushing towards all EV's and dumping any engine larger than 4cyl when hybrids (plug-in or conventional) are much more practical for the majority of potential drivers.

I really think that the black paint is the main reason why it doesn't stand out !! If it was white or metallic grey if would look sick as hell especially with the red interior and black window tint !!
Red interior is tacky af
This is true the color combo totally blows! White exterior(black accenting), black interior(with some red), and gunmetal or black wheels is so much more eye catching. This had to be one the world combos on this particular IS500. Lexus in general is always behind the pack, low innovation and lack of sporty feel. Using the same dash and steering wheel with those dated ugly buttons, same seats, and crammed interior it gets old quick. Nothing special especially for $60k+. You quickly realize your money is not working for you. And an engine/transmission from 2008! And yes the badging sucks too! This is not up to par with 2022 competition!
Great review and thinking out of the box. thanks

Seems odd to complain if you misunderstand it. Most of the complaints were things you saw before you signed. It's a reliable car to own that makes the right noises and handles well, but is a comfortable sleeper. I could afford to daily a C7 or M5, but daily driving my ISF was less flashy and easier overall. It's nice to do triple digits without screaming about it. That being said, hope you find something you like!
He bought it because of the hype. The car community was really jazzed about this car, and he thought it was cool because people said it was cool.
It's a very cool car, but not for showing off in the way he is trying to. He's all flash, no substance. This was never the car for him. He needs the typical UA-camr cars with really loud exhaust, giant wings, and a camo wrap. Glad he isn't representing Lexus anymore, it's not a good superficial brand.
@@Tyrael112 The thing that's funny about trying to show off in a car is no one gives a fuck about what you drive. I figured this purchase was simply about content. Obviously I do not agree with 90% of your negatives. 😎
1. A soulless car would not have put the big smile(s) on your face. You loved the seats, the engine, and the overall looks…yet it’s still ‘kinda soulless’? C’mon man. 😂
2. The car is stiff enough when I have it in Sport S+. However, this is a LEXUS first and foremost, to which true enthusiasts and owners appreciate.
3. You asked whether or not the transmission was a ZF? Dude…no…it’s totally built in-house.
This is how I knew the purchase was for content only, there was no real research done on this car beforehand.
I’m glad the car found a good home!
I had done my research - I just couldn't find one to drive. I spoke to 3-4 journalist that drove this, friends, and all gave decent review but not 5 stars. I buy most of my cars for content, especially high power ones. It makes sense tax and business wise. I do not need a car because I am around press cars all week. Great vid and summary of what you liked/disliked - there was so much more potential but I wonder if they would have been able to sell it with more F features (due to increased cost).
I would be ok with paying a bit more instead of going out and buying aftermarket parts.
most likely not, an ISF today would cost at least 70-80k, why would you buy than over an rcf?? LC??? people who are buying sports sedans dont care for 4 seats, so thats not even a question.

Very slow for an 80k car
It has to be the 503 HP M3 Competition since it can only be had with an auto.
You had O2 sensors go out? Isnt there a timeframe where Federally, at least in USA, where it covered?

I thought you were going to list a bunch of mechanical issues. So, it doesn't compete with the competition anymore. But, this is a great car if you are not someone that want the latest in performance. If you are someone that just wants a good sports sedan...this is way more comfortable ride then the competition and a great looking car. And like most people with these cars (and even most people in an M3, AMG, or truck with big off road tires), you are not going to the track or off road any how...you will like this car.
So in a way they’re trying to do what Dodge did with the Charger and Challenger, and hoping that the V8 makes up for the cars deficiencies to certain buyers. I’m not saying this has the same problems as a Dodge obviously, but the idea that they’re trying to sell the V8 is the same.
So what was the replacement?
I think it stands out. I'm going to buy one, this exact color but I think I'll put black rims on it and maybe slam it an inch and a half. Will look sick

The color makes a big difference for it to stand out. If you want to show off the lines, black is usually a bad choice. I was going to buy the same car but in Iridium. However, your great content is making me think twice. I wanted something that is going to hold value with longevity.
It does - but if there are barely any lines 😬😬
You're right about the color making a big difference. The only reason I checked out the Infrared example with white interior at my local dealership is because I had to visit the parts department to replace the lost gas cap for my wife's RX 300. The v8 is really the only thing - I prefer the RCF over IS500 anyday in regards to styling. Best of luck and looking fwd to your new ride! Been following you since the day you had wrx CVT on here lmao
Totally agree
Exactly RCF is much bettter
@@davidwade7681 I got an RCF over the IS500 because of supply chain problems but now I am glad I did
@@allenzillmer1917 good choice it looks better too an fasster
Hi Sam, something tells me G80 all the way!!!!! Either way I hope you enjoy your new ride and fill us with videos!
I’m actually an IS 500 owner since February, enjoying every second of it. I agreed with the lack of folding mirrors, definitely needs spacers and some tech (old platform), same issue with the gasket at only 46 miles, literally second day of ownership (personally didn’t bother me, some type of issues comes with brands in new projects) resolved in 3 days). I do strongly disagree on the rest, especially on the looks and lack of soul! Looking forward for the rest of the content on the IS 500! Actually I don’t think anybody on YT so far have this car drag racing as you have! 💪🏻☑️
I bought it just for that
G80 isn't 1 second faster 0-60 so its not a Genesis
@@danielreinitz9031 👋 I meant BMW G80 M3.
@@euripidesroques6648 M3 does have the manual transmission option, isn't it? At least here in Europe
@@euripidesroques6648 David from Automotive Press also has that gasket issue. I wonder if it was a certain production run.
San you getting a M3 competition?
Hopefully
RR Just developed an exhaust for this car. Unmodded the ISF is mild as well but you need a exhaust work and tune
I heard it, i have heard some of the options. Still sounds dull
@@SamCarLegion true I heard it as well, but it depends on how loud you want it i guess. Think it sounds alot louder in person. Personally dont want to send a sound invitation to authorities 😂🚔🚔 especially when your doing illegal speeds
It's funny because I just sold my G70 after about 2 months. There were too many little glitchy things that were bothersome (i.e. having to press the HomeLink garage door opener more than once to open the garage door). Fun to drive but wasn't exactly my cup of tea.
What you driving now?
@@mansmooth255 Lexus IS 350 F Sport
Don't tell me its a EU sport sedan, if you thought those 2 little gaskets were an issue you will hate UE cars reliability, cost and upkeep! But if you only keep cars for a year or 2 you'll take depreciation finance penalty on resell but the drive experience will be memorable.
I care very little about gaskets
This car was requested by customers to be a daily and not have the LF torture chamber side boosters or punishing suspension. They wanted it to be more comfortable. If you want more racer looks why didn’t you get like an RC F?
Next up is the 2022 Lexus IS 500 V8 vs (most powerful) 2022 Genesis G70 (RWD) 3.3T V6 model?. 🤔
We did against stinger Gt
Watching a video in 360p because you got here too early for higher quality to be availabe... 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
ahhaha
I Agree and Understand Sam. I also am a car guy but no an Enthusiast. @ 42 years old ive owned 11 vehicles since 18y/o. (always 2 vehicles together ) I dont need a fast car/EV. I live in a country setting were the speed limit is under 60mph unless i drive to 50 miles out and get on the Highway which is rare. I watch reviews where people talk about how much they like this car and how great it is cause the options ectra...but sorry i dont feel the same usually.....but its how each and every one of us feels when we drive it. Ive owned ones that i just didnt want to drive it and park it after a while. Totally get ya...Cant wait too see what you got and hope it puts a smile on your face.
I know that’s right Sam 👏
Soooo what’s coming next is a description?
Stop it bro that car looks awesome and it does stand out if you get a different color the blue will look wonderful in the car black always is plain jeans and every car almost look the same if they are black but either than that that car looks good and you have the power it doesn’t stand out for other people like that that’s good I don’t need nobody trying to steal my car anyway🤣
It doesn’t stand out at all
It definitely stands out in different colors. I have blue and always get comments and looks.
It’s a head turner all day. People will find any reason to hate on Lexus. It’s so funny and pathetic at the same time.
Hey Sam! Man, kind of intrigued about your new car, hmm. I have not driven the IS500 but now I really want to get one and drive it to see how good engaging it is...I do really like the way it looks but yes Lexus could have stepped it up a bit in the looks department. Or you can go the Townsend Bell mod way if you remember ! Take care Sam!
Buy an IS500 if you need a V8 that isn’t a Dodge. Don’t expect this car to blow you away or even excite you
@@SamCarLegion That's a stretch lol, considering how excited you appeared when you first got the car.
I want to grab a used one around high $30’sK but that’ll be a while, wish it came in awd but it’s either this or CLS63 14’
Why didn't you just get an RC F track edition if you wanted something that stands out?
Buying that car it's like throwing money out the window because you are bored.
Was going to guess a BMW M440I, until I realized you can't get the B58 with just rwd. Now, I am leaning hard toward the CT-4 BW or M3, but I truly have no idea.
One or the other for sure ;)

No way when people talk about Lexus lack of performance compared to competitors, I was assured by Lexus fanboys that Lexus is the most reliable cars ever and that makes up for it
its pretty much a fact, there are plenty of 2007+ isf with high mileage which had 0 issues over the years, the same can not be said about m3s from the same time period.
@@floggyWM1 yah its fact that Lexus USED to be known for hence your 2007. They are not the same standard as before and the germans have reliability have dramatically increased. Dont believe me , go to look at JD power reliability ratings just as many German as Lexus. In other words your living in the past to try to justify Lexus horrible performance compared to their competitors.
@@IRaoulDuke im not trying to "justify lexus horrible performance" Lexus was never ahead of their competitors when it came to performance.
Did they know how you treated this car?
Who cares? It’s under warranty 🤑
I told Dave Ramsey he only owned this for 2 months 🤦♂️
Alfa Romeo QF is the next car. Such an amazing ride.
reliability on those!
Most of the things that you said that you don't like about this car I am sure that you would know about it before you bought it, especially the looks and the zero to sixty. So something don't add up lol. I am suspecting that you must have gotten beat in a street race by something cheaper like a gulf R or a civic type R or something 😂😂😂.
That too 😂😂😂
@@SamCarLegion Glad that you admit lol. I wanted to buy this car too but I did not like the zero to sixty time 🤷
They say that the Toyota turbo engine is better than the BMW, but we will see at the beginning of the launch of the famous Toyota engine, the T24A-FTS, things began to happen in the engine faster than they happened in the B48 engine, such as the waste cover, the turbo gate, the oil cap, and also the breakage of the plastic pipes, so do not judge that. Unless you are experienced
My left ear really enjoyed this review
You need to go to a doctor or something?
@@SamCarLegion It's the sound track issue, this video particular, your voice only comes from left side of the headphone, the right side only plays background music, maybe something you can adjust on your side?
RWD come with no manual transmission and do under 4 second to 60. No Korean or Japanese car has sedan under 4 seconds, Audi RS5 no sedan, CT5 and 4 blackwing and M3 has manual. So will come down to only C63 and Giulia (manual not available in North America). Also not see many red C63 or road, so I guess is Giulia.
I think the Shelby GT500 has one his heart.
Sorry Sam but this car is the looker in the class everyone stares at this car.
Not once lol not once I got someone to look at it. The Elantra N got more looks lol
Elantra is trash lololol
The IS500 from the get go isn’t suppose to be “flashy”. It’s quite literally just an IS with a V8 in it. Its not a full blow F product. Hence why it doesn’t look like it. You bought the car with the wrong expectations
It’s true i got cheated
@@SamCarLegion you didn’t get cheated. You expected too much. Especially without test driving it first. This isn’t an F model and its not trying to be.
The only thing i liked about this car was the v8 engine, the tail pipes and the actual spare tire it comes with
Ya... those pipies look so good .... I wish the G70 went that way....
Wait no sunroof on a 60k car?? My old 99 Altima had a sunroof lol
Yep

Canadian Spec. Mine has one.
@@DLPTonyATL it’s not standard in the US.
@@bg693 For the Premium and LEs it is and the likelihood of finding the base is extremely rare. (If one has even made it here.) 😎
So for all intents and purposes, it is.
Seems like you bought for hype and realized later it wasn’t for you. Glad you’re selling to someone who appreciates it for what it is. The only thing I agree with is the mirrors not folding. The rest of your complaints are things buyers of this car are appreciating about it.
That is so weird almost everyone with a 3IS here has auto folding mirrors even my 2015 does really don’t know why you guys don’t get it
I remembered you visited "nissan"...will your next ride be the new Z?
Some things changed because of family changes.
Looks best in red imo
Lexus never gets much credit but is way more more reliable than German competitors plus holds good value
Really?
@@SamCarLegion yes definitely
@@issavibez394 after what I went thru..yeah lexus isn’t that reliable hahaah
@@SamCarLegion the older models yes are tanks Germans are no where near LS and GS are the most reliable what issues have u had
Lexus reliability isn't what it use to be and I think the IS is average looking at best. Nothing special except the sweet V8. It doesn't look very different from the other IS models. Lexus really missed the opportunity to make the IS500 very special and all they did was make a grand tourer
this is the best looking IS in a long time for me. i think it looks better than the bmw , genesis g70, acura tlx type s,
Thats why its called an IS (fsp) and not ISF; its fast but wasn’t intended to be a canyon carver, its like an old school japanese luxury/sporty/muscle sedan
They should have included that in the flyer
@@SamCarLegion If you didn’t know that before the purchase, you shouldn’t have a car channel
