I'm thrilled! I loved the novel. As a Viet, I'm absolutely excited about this series. Great to see RDJ again after such a while, and what an honour it is to have Park Chan Wook direct this piece. I'm also stunned that you're using actual Viet actors, that's a rarity.

"I'm thrilled! I loved the novel. As a Viet,-" Red flag already. I mean it is Robert Downey Jr after all. What should I expect. The guy who Mel Gibson went to great length to carry and save. This piece is going to be a 'moderate' circle jerk.

I have a co worker that fought in the South Vietnamese army, because of Reagan he was able to come over here to America when the north took over. It’s funny to me that Hollywood thinks the average American is stupid and can’t tell the difference when average blue collar workers work with immigrants daily.
I deal with Koreans, Vietnamese, Russians, North Sudanese, Pakistanis etc.

I really appreciate them using VIETNAMESE american actors to play Vietnamese characters. Not only will they look Vietnamese but chances are their spoken vietnamese has a good chance of being better (not guaranteed of course, we have tons of Americans of various ethnicities who cannot speak the 'mother tongue', me being one of them, hahaha) but I like casting that authentically gets actors from that ethnicity.
