- Getting internships or jobs especially in engineering is usually pretty difficult…so I decided to take all the experience from my 5 years of studying engineering and compile it into a 10-minute video that gives you the ultimate guide to getting your dream internships!!
I break it down into 5 steps:
01:12 Get Initial Experience
03:19 Build Your Resume
05:35 Build Your Portfolio
06:30 Get Your Resume Seen
08:29 Ace the Interview
So, whether your goal is to work for a small start-up or a big tech company like Apple, Google, Facebook, or Tesla…I think these tips would help :) I’m by no means an expert, but this is just the experience I’ve gathered over the last 5 years.

You are a nice dude!!! Thank you
Being lucky watching your videos in my first year mechanical engineering
u r inspiring me, man. 🙏
My first summer I applied to jobs without a portfolio, and got 0 responce or interview out of almost 15 places.
Now, I applied to similar interships, and got a 100% success rate of getting interviews, that means all the 8 places I applied, I got an interview
Bro your videos r so helpful!
Eyy happy u like them :)
Yep interviews are hard. Not all but some are. Never know what they will.do. but keep going to them.
This guy is the 🐐
Love Your Videos Bro. 🤙🏻

Hey, can u pls make a video on how to balance internships and studying at the same time please
best video about internships
best video i have seen ever
great video tamer, just a question tho, is it worth applying for internships after graduation while also applying for full time positions?
Thanks man
I subscribed after seeing the awesome thumbnail
Can you make a video on how to link or attach your portfolio to your cv
Im graduating from highschool soon and I have no prior knowledge of mechanical engineering. I am interested in this field and would like to know what kind of college classes and other things that could help me
All this for a job that claims to be "entry level"!
My question is, even if i DO know how to use autocad, im using the student version and its illegal to use it for purposes other than education. So do companies provide the software at least???
Yo quick question if u dont mind. So im in gr12 tryna get into UW tron and wanted to do some shit on the sides to boost my AIF. I was thinking of buying a robotics kit from online and building my own bot to do whatever. Do u think that would look good as a personal project both on my AIF going into uni AND for to put on a resume for co-ops or one of the two? thanks g
Yea that would be good, any project helps. Then use the experience u get from that project to work on ur own projects from scratch.
In the future I want to work at NASA. I also want to complete my internship from there.
I did this, but with Econ.
Big sad that Boosted Boards is gone. Always wanted to work there...
Best Video
could you do a video about research engineering interships? if you have a friend that's into more academic stuff
Hmm I don’t know too many ppl into research internships...but I’ll try to see what information I can find on that topic
and how would you put case competitions in your resume?
wish I had watched that at this time last year... but oh well, I'll do my best in the present moment anyway
wow, thank you.
Hi, I am gonna be starting university on September. I will study Mechatronics in UW. I want to get some skills that you mentioned until September and spend my summer efficiently. Is there any particular skill that you would recommend me to start with? I do not have any experience in programming, 3d modelling, etc. For Mechatronics what would be the most useful and important one? My plan is to get into an online course (maybe one with a certificate).
Also, is there any particular online course or website that you recommend? Thank you.
Btw, I find your videos very helpful and motivating. You are really doing a great job. Keep it up!
@@emrehanklc8738 Hey, I don’t have an answer for your question but I have a question for you. Since you got into UW mechatronics, what were your grade, experiences and any tips for the application process.
@@tarnjot5939 Hi, my average was around 96 when I got accepted. I probably got accepted mostly because of my marks. My aif and interview were ok but nothing crazy. So, tbh I didn't do anything special I just tried to keep my marks high. Also, for engineering Physics and Advanced Functions are especially important and my mark for both these courses were pretty high, that might had an impact.
@@emrehanklc8738 Ye, my average is around that but may I ask what was on your aif including experience and volunteerism to help me get a perception of an okay aif.
Mechatronics students usually end up working in the mechanical space or the software space. So, if ur interested in working in the mechanical space, then you could do a CAD course online in SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or CATIA V5. You could also find some free courses or online tutorials as well. But, if ur interested in software, then start teaching urself the basics of programming languages like HTML, CSS, Java, C++ or Python. I’m not sure what ur coding level is, but if u have some experience in programming, then u could start a course called “Data Structures and Algorithms.” That course is the key to helping you get high paying software internships.
Heyy I have a question, for example I'm still in high school and I've worked on some projects during thise years, can I make a portfolio with these projects and will they count?
Yea of course, any project counts. Ideally try to use skills that the job ur applying to would like to see
Where can we find that resume template?
Ahh! I was wondering what happened to the engineering internship video… turns out you just re-filmed it !!
Yea I had learned some more stuff that I thought would be helpful so I decided to remake it, while attempting to improve the production value
@@TamerShaheen I’m going to be a freshman studying mechanical engineering this coming August so I’ve been watching your videos to learn!! And Prepare :) 💪 real helpful!! I started with the note taking video, but internships, and the exam paper videos were really useful too
make a portfolio video
i can't say how many times i've seen b-roll of this guy's classmate pointing into a water bottle.
Hey man, did you make your eng portfolio projects fit on the resume, or just had a separate document illustrating the projects? Cause of heard the cv should only be one page
how about for business technology managemen?
i love that ring
Haha thanks
what do you mean by SELF LOCATING FEATURES?
How fast can you get an internship? I’m currently in my first year of engineering, what should I be focusing on in order to get a good internship as soon possible while I’m still going for bachelors?
Work on building a portfolio that showcases ur best work so u can get an internship as soon as ur first summer off.
Please help us we are just graduating from Mechatronics engineering degree ❤
Ayo is your channel description still accurate? I thought you graduated.
Yea haha I graduated, I just need to update it 😅
Hello, I am currently a high school student and my school require me to get an internship that I am interested in. I personally would like to have an internship related to mechanical engineering, but I doubt that any company would even accept a high school student to work for them, what should I do?
It’s tough to get an internship when ur so young. So for now, I’d recommend to build your experience by working on ur own projects. Teach yourself SolidWorks or Fusion 360 or Inventor or any other CAD software of ur choice by using UA-cam videos. Then start designing things and adding them in ur portfolio. Also, if ur school has a robotics team, then join that as well.
@@TamerShaheen Thank you very much!
My GPA is a 2.7, i'm screwed literally
I joined a couple of clubs and started doing projects in them to get experience. But how do you put those projects on your resume for an internship if they're going to be done later in the future? The deadline to apply to summer internships might pass if I wait until they are done.
Work on other projects that u can finish sooner and include them in the portfolio
Hello! I got two internships in the past: 1 from a recommendation from a high school principal & 1 from networking for two days in a career fair. I gotta say that your video content is one of the best advice I wish I found sooner.
I have a question thou.
If I do not have the skill sets yet (as in I'm super below average when using SolidWorks/AutoCAD/etc) but I have experience using GIS, doing data management work, creating engr documents, etc, should I focus on improving my design skills first or keep applying for internships?
I’m glad you find the videos helpful! If you have absolutely no design experience, then spend a few weeks or a couple months refining ur skills, then add it to ur resume then apply. However, while ur waiting for companies to reply back to u, continue to work on ur skills.
@@TamerShaheen Thank you so much. :)
I'm not an engineer but I've run an engineering firm for 20 years. I've hired engineering interns for 12 years. What I've found is that many interns are not competent in CAD despite claiming to do so. Sure they can draw circles and squares but that's just about it. Most do not have proper attitude and believe that the company owes them basic knowledge and skills during internship. Therefore we're extremely selective in hiring interns. Out of 400-500 or so applicants, maybe we'll take one. Certain universities we unfortunately no longer accept.
How can you completely cut off the availability of applicants from an entire university?
And then these same companies complain that they need more people 💀🤣 okay
You sound delightful
But like. They're not wrong😅
Yea, cause it's so outlandish for ppl to expect on the job training in a profession as broad as engineering... wonder how your generation would've fared if they were expected to teach themselves literally everything instead of being handed everything they ever needed without asking....and yall think we are the entitled ones... try being a depressed young adult who can't get a job due to insufficient experience when all the 'entry' level jobs require years of experience to begin with... then try working a goddamn internship for free and going hungry just to get said experience... go F yourself
Join a program like year up
Do you film ur utube videos using iPhone or camera?
Both to be honest
Hey dude, are you working right now? If so where and what company?
Yea I’m working as an Engineer in California. I’ll make a video talking about it in more detail
