    I've met and talked with a lot of highly successful engineering students who all work at notable companies including Apple, Google, Meta, Boeing, Tesla, McKinsey, just to name a few. All of them were able to get into these companies straight out of university because of one thing...internships. In this video, I'll be sharing with you a very effective step by step strategy for getting an internship, even if you have little to zero experience. Time stamps are provided below.

    Hey Victor! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience! I am a mechanical engineering freshman and I been following your (and other engineering UA-camrs) advice in how to get experience as soon as possible and after working so hard on getting connections, getting research experience, doing personal projects, and participating in engineering competitions I can now say it truly paid off. About 2 hours ago I got notified that I have been selected for a summer internship at Crestron Electronics. Finally the stress on how the interview went paid off! And I’m shocked and grateful because technically only juniors and seniors were able to apply but I met the hiring manager through a networking event held by my university and was able to convince him to consider me as a freshman. I am very thankful for you, I truly wouldn’t have managed my first year like I did if it wasn’t for the knowledge I gathered from your channel. Even if you don’t know me, you and your channel helped me so much. So thank you. I hope this little message helps you see how much your efforts to this channel are appreciated and how it impacts people just starting their journey in mechanical engineering.

      Congrats on landing an internship as a freshman! I’m so happy for you. It’s comments like yours that make what I do totally worth it :)

    I’m retired after 30+ years at Apple and I can say that he’s 100% correct. An internship is basically a long job interview. And a majority of interns get job offers after they graduate. Note however that one of the things we looked for is how much work you got done vs. how much of the intern social events (parties) you attended. Most intern work is grunt work… but we expect it to get done. Associates at other bleeding edge tech firms confirm that they’re the same way. An internship can be more important than the details of your degree if you can do the work and they give you a huge edge over graduates that didn’t intern.

    Hey I had a question if a general engineering degree will still land me jobs compared to a mechanical engineering degree? My goal is to get a masters in mechanical or electrical engineering.

    What advice do you have for those who couldn't land an internship in Mechanical Engineering in their bachelors? I did try but I wasn't successful.

    • @EngineeringGoneWild
      @EngineeringGoneWild  2 місяці тому +3

      If you are a grad student, you can still do internships or research. If you are unemployed, do some personal projects and keep applying.

    Do you think it’s worth it to double major in mechanical and aerospace engineering? Also all the skills that are listed in company descriptions for companies I am interested in that I would have to learn and put on my resume fills very overwhelming. (Almost a second year student right now)

      @EngineeringGoneWild  2 місяці тому +4

      If you are 100% sure that you want to work in aerospace, then I’d say go for it. Otherwise just major in mechanical. As for skills, focus on 1 or 2 first rather than everything at once.

    What would a company benefit from creating an internship position?

    • @EngineeringGoneWild
      @EngineeringGoneWild  2 місяці тому +2

      Companies typically invest in interns because they are a cost-effective source of labor and potentially may rejoin the company as a full-time employee to fill their talent pipeline.
