    This looks like a really interesting single board computer. I love the fact it comes pre-installed with Windows 10 and that it has Arduino capabilities this would make for some interesting projects.
    Thanks for reviewing it, I look forward to further videos showing off this little PC.

    You might be interested in the UDOO x86. It is an x86 single board computer that has compatibility with Arduino hardware and software, through a compatible microcontroller that can interface with the x86 processor. It bills itself as "the most powerful maker board ever". Seems pretty interesting.

    Thank for all your help. My project is this. I had order a 200w amplifier board a year ago and haven't use it. So I looked all over and found these clear 18" document cases. So if I can use a broadband stick for portable internet, when done it'll basically be a clear boombox that streams music, emulates all the classic game systems, and plays music vids from youtube on the 10.1 touch screen. I'll made a vid when done to share with you. Thank you for all, and keep making wonderful vids. ( ; ) )

    you gotta overclock this!!

    • @AlkalineGamingHD
      @AlkalineGamingHD 8 років тому +14

      K cpu's have unlocked multipliers, allowing you to easily overclock the CPU exclusively from the rest of the machine. This is the common most understanding of over clocking. He can try to overclock something else like the front bus, which will also increase the clock speed of things like the RAM. This option is more limiting though. Nevertheless, overclocking could be done!

    I have been watching your videos since the beginning and this one is like usual an excellent and informative video.
    Based on the video I purchased a Latte Panda 4/64GB. It came with the connector for the WiFi cable not fitting.
    Compared to other connectors of the same model, it seemed to be bend, not sure. Without the antenna no way to
    activate Win10. Finally I was able to force it in and connect to my WiFi network. The WiFi connection is slower
    than comparable single board computers I use. Fortunately this application doesn't need constant WiFi connection.
    On the positive side, the construction is excellent and I like having simple access to the external connections.
    It is the perfect solution for this project and the size fits perfectly behind the 5" LCD. Thank you for bringing it to
    our attention.

    This can be used to construct a home made all in one pc. The board can be mounted in a small box, and the box and an external 1tb hard drive connected to the usb 3 port could be attached to the back of a TV.

    Put this in to perspective; the year was 1984 I purchased my 386 DX PC with 4 MB of RAM and just released ATI graphic card with 1MB on board memory. My HD was huge 120 MB Conner. After they install DOS 6.0 and Windows 3.1, there was still about 112 MB left and I began to wonder what I'm going to do with all this space. I was connecting to CompuServe with 2400 Baud Rate US Robotics modem. My monitor was the latest and greatest .25DPI ViewSonic monitor, just released to the market. The price $2700.00 without printer. Sorry young generation; you just have to google things like CompuServe and Prodigy.

      1984? I'm impressed. The 386 DX processor wasn't released until October 17, 1985 and your PC would have struggled to run Windows 3.1. That didn't come along until April 6, 1992! The gentleman doth forget too much, methinks ;)

      Actually, it was better for gaming than an LCD. I have a Sony, 25" CRT flat screen at .20DPI, with built in KVM. If I had a place to put it, I'd be using it. It's faster than the flat panel monitors for gaming.

    This would be an amazing replacement to my dual tablet install in my car. Grab a couple of these guys, along with a couple touch lcd panels, the possibilities would be endless. I could run relay's and control all my lights, my horn, hell I could set it up to start my car from my cell phone provided it's within wifi range, or just run a hotspot so I could start/unlock it from anywhere it has cellular signal. Man this thing is cool as hell. I hope it can support Windows 7 since it supports 10 just fine.

      by saying a keylogger OS is better.
      a OS that does things without the users permission is better.
      a OS that treats all users as idiots is better.
      a OS where users cant disable things like cortana or windows update is better
      a OS where the forced updates can make the system unstable is better
      Then I guess it is "better"
      Wake up it is not better it is worse.

    Thanks for the great unboxing and overview!
    As for cooling, please note that dfrobot.com sells a couple of different cases, a fan, and heat sinks for the individual board components - all for an affordable price.
    Also note that the installed Windows 10 software for the larger (4GB/64GB) LattePanda configuration is not activated like it is on the smaller version, so a separate Windows license must either be transferred from another device or purchased from Microsoft ($99) - nearly doubling the cost of the system.
    Keep up the great work!

    This is the time to start coding and making gadgets for me. I don´t mean the panda is the right system compared to pi but im amazed how the computing has evolved for example since ten years ago. I though mini laptops were the coolest thing (never got one luckily) and BOOOM tablets destoyed them completely. It was last year when I thought when will the single board pc run a major consumer OS. Its affordable to make home automation and monitoring at home.

      Its getting very near the point sensible people will be looking elsewhere for their computing solutions. Intel, Windows, Apple, Google... none of these are trustworthy. Not even Ubuntu. Every damn one of them is full of telemetry which ultimately gives the US government a direct path to your thoughts and interests. People do not realize how all this shit works... It's ironic we may now have to go where... China? Brazil? For trustworthy computing platforms. We've recycled all the trustworthy computing devices, long gone to metal recyclers. No more Pentium IIIs and P2B-X motherboards.
      Buying a device like this designed from the ground up to run Windows is like buying a gun that only fires when you're pointing at your own head.

    • @nasraniminalgharb9664

      Brad Scott
      Hello! Ubuntu is *open source*. The code is available to *all*. That means if there are spy codes embedded therein people would see it and it would make news.

    • @bradscott3165
      @bradscott3165 7 років тому +1

      There is and it has, but no one cares. Ubuntu comes with a desktop search agent configured that, by default, sends all your search strings upstream to Amazon and, depending on what "lenses" are enabled, others a well. Everytime you use the panel to search for anything (and that is how oyu use it) that telemetry is recorded and used to help remember things for your convenience. You can disable it and remove it, but you have to do that yourself. By default, it is integrated in this way. And, with the partnership with Microsoft, who knows what kinda weird kernel stuff they're going to start doing there.
      Windows is open source as well. You havbe to put up some money and sign a bunch of legal disclosures, but Microsoft will allow you to audit their code. You can't do anything with it including talk about it with others, but it is technically open source. Open Source is a meaningless expression. GNU is free software, not just open source. And when you start dabbling in binary blobs that only certain people are allowed to see, you're right back on the path that got us in this mess we're all in at present. Free software, free societies.

    I saw this video before and didn't pursue it because of the price.
    This one comes with a software package that runs in Wind 10, with Visual Studio, to "operate" or access the Arduino I/O. But I also need precision analog input A/D conversion, which will probably have to be breadboarded separately. Kinda pricey for $119, with the activated Win 10 OS, but the barebones package is only $89.

    • @ExplainingComputers
      @ExplainingComputers  6 років тому

      And you can "evaluate" Windows 10 without activation indefinately . . . The only real restriction is that you cannot change the desktop background.

    • @RobertMertensPhD
      @RobertMertensPhD 6 років тому

      I dunno. After Bill Gates left Microsoft and stopped doing what he does best, which is to envision, the quality of Windows OSs have been in decline, and for a long time, I wasn't able to change the background on my existing, paid-for copy of Windows 10. Now, I think there were enough complaints about it that Microsoft let it back in. In the meantime, I'm in the market for a newer, better OS, but I suspect that, with all technologies that evolve, they tend ted to devolve as time moves on. I'm even losing interest in the internet, just because of the hogs that occupy it, youtube, for instance, and google. As for Linux, I've never been able to get used to it - it just doesn't have the feel of Windows. Well, the old versions - 95, 98, XP, etc.

    It's a PC, no such thing as a Windows Computer. Have you tested this with Linux?

    • @ExplainingComputers
      @ExplainingComputers  7 років тому +6

      I think we can call a computer with Windows installed a "Windows computer". And here, it is very difficult to install anything else -- certainly you cannot boot an install Linux from USB in the normal fashion (and many people have tried). In theory this could run Linux. In practice nobody is offering a distro and means of install that works . . . (which is a shame I agree!).

    • @ScoopexUs
      @ScoopexUs 7 років тому

      Well, my point is if it were a PC, if it were compatible enough you could install a Linux distro, because Linux is compatible indeed. Perhaps you're right, and this computer is not a PC but limited to the included Windows. I do think that's a shame, because there's no reason except perhaps hardware design shortcuts to fit it. I can see how this would be useful to replace components on a factory floor for things like established Access-based production systems. But for the home user, to me this competes with ITX+Blu-Ray for media center type applications, and I'm not sure it gets there. But there's always enthusiast (hate that word!) I/O applications, and this might let you apply the software you're used to.

      "Windows" isn't doing anything. The company that makes these just bought the Windows 10 activation keys from Microsoft to use in their product, just like any company would for a PC or Laptop. It just so happens that this is a single board computer. It is not some reaction to Linux based boards by Microsoft, it is just a product that one company is selling.
