  • Little Deuce Coupe got copyrighted so I used an 8-bit version from Mr. J. Wilson. I think that was the reason it wasn’t showing up on the channel but I fixed it and you should be seeing this.

Its such a shame that they fell away from making truly great songs when Brian began to decline in '67. After that, they largely just went down the nostalgia route. They could have achieved so much more. Crazy to think Brian peaked at 24 years old.

The one with Brian was originally shown on a special TV program hosted by Leonard Bernstein. He'd heard the Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper" album, and was so impressed, he wanted people to know that the younger generation was making some incredible music. He invited several artists who represented that music. Amongst them were Simon and Garfunkel, and Brian Wilson, who played "Surf's Up."

Very awesome. I hope all the surviving official members of The Beach Boys reunite for a 60th anniversary tour soon. I also hope John Stamos and Christian Love become official members of the group. I also hope there can be an honorable supporting musician Mike Oldfield who is best known for his Tubular Bells for albums. He is a good guitar god and he could be good on many gutiar solos.

The legend of this group was almost destroyed by Mr ego Mike Love with one album alone.
Summer in paradise is the most embarrassing crap I ever heard and it’s all Mikey’s doing. Poor Carl’s health was fading at that point but he did what he could to save that garbage from tarnishing the group’s reputation forever.

As someone who's not a lyrics person, kind of liked them returning to the Beach lyrics in the 70s but in the 80s and 90s it becomes very quickly corny and dated (god who the hell invented those 80s drum machines?).
Standalone wise, the collaboration with the Fatboys on "Wipe Out" sounded kind of alright but yeah it's just part of the mess of the post-1983 Beach Boys discography when put together with the rest of their discography from that time.

    • @pauldrew3696

All from Mike Love. He wrestled control of the group from Carl and the tragedy of albums came out.
The Beach Boys went from one of the most innovative groups to a sell out.

Abandoning the great musical/lyrical path they were on in the mid 60s-early 70’s was a huge creative mistake. Outside of the great album we got with Love You in 1977, the creative era died.
