Both awesome cameras for sure. BM6k is a crazy good deal for the features. Pros and cons of any camera for sure. Great comparison here.
Still mad at you for leaving WFS.
Hey, wtf are you talking about 256GB Cfast card being $400 bucks? 256GB Cards are about $190.
@@alanbam5590 wrong
@@DHGlexxy Nope. You're wrong buddy. 128 can get down to $70 if you did a one second of research you would find that out. www.amazon.com/Komputerbay-Professional-256GB-CFast-560MB/dp/B01NBAVA26/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=cfast+cards&qid=1574152627&sr=8-6
Fer sure
I love it when two of my fave UA-camrs surprise me with a colab, especially when they're showing off their camera gear!
Can we get a tutorial for how you get that "secret life of walter mitty" look? I absolutely love the color but I have no idea how to get there!
I would love a color grading tutorial. :)
Miguel Baca yes!!
Love the color grade, would definitely appreciate a tutorial!
*Push the black up, push the clarity down, a litle bit of haze, and you are done!*
Majority of that would be in the lighting and production design :)
Nice video. I have to say though I own both the Canon C200 and BMPC6K and you can definitely match them easily. I used the C200 as A Cam and BMPCC as a B cam on a series of documentaries with no issue at all..
Hey Sara! It was great to meet you at VidSummit this last week. I loved hearing your story about making the jump! Keep up the good work

Hey Sara, if you use the ACES cc color space in Resolve and select the presets for your different cameras on the inputs you can match your cameras and make your color correction a bit easier...
Loved the video Sara! and loved the grade even more !!
Super helpful video. I’ve been debating on these two for a while now.
I have a feeling a video soon will be POWER for the BMD cameras. Love what you are doing! Keep up the Awesome!!!
This video looks amazing!
YC The legend
I recently bought a BMPCC 6k. Added a Tilta cage and power handle using sony F970 batteries. Awesome. Using Samsung 2 TB SSD. Killer. Over 3 1/2 hours at 5.1 braw. Oh how I love the BRAW. Matched with DaVinci Resolve for grading and editing. Killer combo. Not perfect, but wow, nothing comes close for the bucks. Oh, Canon 24-105 stabilized lens. 1 touch auto focus works. Love the focus edge highlights.
Love this video. great work and thanks for sharing
another great video..... nice to see your channel grow so much over the last couple of years... keep up the hustle ....
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I was just comparing the two cameras this week and trying to decide which one would be a better fit. I was leaning towards Canon because of autofocus, but after watching this I'm leaning towards the bmpcc. Thank you again!
Appreciate the hard work Sara!
I love your vlogs so much! Now I feel in the mood to purchase a new camera
Great video Sara - thanks for sharing!
Oh, yeah, you nailed the color grade on these shots! They look so goooood!
Hey, thanks for the information. I was actually looking at both cameras prior to this video for consideration. Thank you for the helpful hints.
Great. Great review. Good advice on the 2 same cameras.
Let’s goooooo so excited for this video!!!
First off...awesome colab! Second...I *totally* LOVE your color grading!!! If you do a vid on that...I think you’d have MANY fans ready to watch!
I love when two of my favorite youtubers collab,
Love the moody look!!! Great job and great video!
Awesome! Love your Camera videos!
Nice video, as always 😃 The Cinema 6K seems like a super amazing camera. Your rainy New York footage looks fantastic. It would be nice to see a video about your workflow with this camera. Or maybe a "things you must have" when you buy the Cinema 6K.
The image from both of those cameras is amazing. I don’t think I’d be able to tell the difference if they weren’t labeled. Price of the black magic is a huge plus!
beautiful work
Didn't learn much from this
Really nice video! I’m actually looking at the BMPC 6k and the Lumix S1H. I’d love to see a video like this with those two cameras 👍🏼 I currently shoot gh5
I looked at both cameras for cinema work. I was coming from the Canon C100 with Atomos recorder. I went with the BMPCC 6k because, even when I added the Samsung T5s and the Vmount battery solution, I ended up with a camera that will do what I need for less than $3k. That is ridiculously cheap. I have taken on the Resolve learning curve, but with UA-cam, that hasn't taken much to do the things I want to do. Now, for transparency, I was using a HitFilm Pro to edit and all of the plugins were open-source which Resolve can use. So total win on my side once I figured out how nodes best work in my workflow. Love the Canon for when I needed autofocus for events, but now I am doing more cinematic and talking head work. Black Magic makes sense for me and I love it. (I actually have both the 4k and the 6k... why don't they both shoot 4k in Braw?)
If you do ever need to in a pinch the color match feature in Premiere actually comes in clutch. I have had to rely on it a few times and while it isn't PERFECT all the time, it puts you in a really good spot to make minor adjustments to dial it in properly.
Sara!! Wow, I don’t even know how I ended up here but OMG! The best! I’m going on a bender trying to binge as much as possible!! 📸🥰👊🏼😻
Cool video! Crazy the difference in price given the similarities
Absolutely fantastic video Sara and Scott!! Such a brilliant look into not just how the cameras compare, but also a look into what one should be thinking about when they are deciding on the equipment for their projects!
This is a silly question but, what do you think of the Blackmagic Pocket 4k/6k battery grip they made?
love your videos. keep up the good work!
I was thinking this same comparison just a few days ago. Thanks for sharing! Kinda leaning towards the C200.
It's a great camera man, highly recommend.
Anybody know the song at 6:52

Great video. Both great cameras. The black magic would be my choice for its RAW capability(codec choices)Portability, and price.( I will live with the ND filters/battery life and no auto focus)Just my preference.Have the 4 K(love it)thinking about adding a 6K(the price is sooooo great)
Hi Sara great video. One thing i would like to mention. I own both the C200 and the Pocket 6k as you exactly describe at the end. C200 as my main, pocket 6k as my B camera.
However I am easily able to match them up in resolve using Color Space Transform. It's a feature right in resolve that will make any log format behave like another log format of your liking.
So what i do is take the c200s log profile and turn them Blackmagic's film log then simply drop my custom pocket 6k Lut and they match almost perfectly.
I made a video on color space transform on my own channel. You can check it out if you want.
Hi pleas tell me if money wasnt a option wich camera would you choose and wish has better video quility and wich has better raw pleas help me as im still new
My 2 cents, having both cams, C200 is for work (autofocus, ND's, easy codecs, battery, screens, durability, etc) and BMPCC6k is for passion projects (OMG that image, and use even using cheep Rokinon manual cine-lenses). Both cams are awesome, but if you make a living shooting video for commercial purposes, the C200 is still the better option (especially if you're a canon glass user). Great video, love the channel, cheers!
It's now been 18 months since this video. The new BM 6K Pro, with it's ND's, tiltable screen and better codecs is slowly inching towards crossing that line. All for the same price as the previous BM6K. I'd say they're going to sell a ton of them.
@@4seeableTV that pro model fixes most of my issues. I dont have it yet, but definitely a contender. Auto focus is probably still a bummer on it, but if they ever get that close to the canon cams, it would be an unbelievably versatile cam for all pro work.
Waltermitty is one of my fav movies as well! love the story, music, color...pretty much everything .
loved the video, although i didnt understand half of the jargon used in the video lol. We are btw waiting impatiently for your merch dropp
The Blackmagic pocket Cinema 6K looks way better, and plus it does 10-bit raw/ the only thing that Cannon has is colors and autofocus and obviously battery life! ( but you can't beat that price with the pocket Cinema 6K) 🎥🎥🎥 in the dynamic range on the pocket is better!!!!( more resolution)
Thanks for the shout-out! We've got camera profiles for the C200 and BMPCC6K as well as over 50 over popular digital cinema, mirrorless and DSLRs to make camera matching easier, and FilmConvert Nitrate will be out for DaVinci Resolve next month
Would love to see how you color grade in Resolve. Thanks for sharing!
The color grading was pretty spot on
But I am intrigued. You color grade before editing? Shouldn't it be the last thing you do before exporting the video?
Everyone has their own preferences. It's kind of nice to see all your footage exactly like you want it before you even start the edit process.
Solid review Sara! While I like both cameras I’m more in favor of the Blackmagic because if its compact form. However I wonder if there is an accessory monitor that connects to give the user more flexibility in camera angles and also if there is an accessory battery pack for longer shoot time.
Love your color grade !
Nice review. Love your chanel. Keep it up !!
OH MY! I loved the movie The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, ESPECIALLY when i got into analog film photography.
Louis Uy same! One of my favorite movies!
Wow the colour grading you did was BEAUTIFUL
Great comparison, very helpful and informative! :) Oh also, saw Scott's video too (love your vids if you see this Scott, can't believe you ended up collabing with Sara x'D) and if you actually want an editor, I do it full time as my job and I would be honored to help you! Let me know and great vid again guys!
Both would be good but I would go with the blackmagic because of the price point
Both are great cameras. I love shooting with both for different reasons. For CFast, look at Silicon Power cards. Approved for the 6K and can run continuously on the C200. 500gb is $300ish. I’ve used it in both cameras ni problems.
Wow... when you guys showed the Mp4 shot directly followed by ProRes... I thought... Canon really nailed that 8-bit codec. It looked just as good as the 10-bit to my eyes.
I just had this question, looking for my next cam upgrade. How is the focus on the BMPCC 6K? Not nearly as good as dual pixel, and I almost esclusive shoot myself (that always sounds so bad.)
It does not have auto focus at all.
@@BigYayWarzone that's not gonna work for me
Fun and informative video - Thanks! The original C100 was my first cinema camera and I loved it a lot. I changed jobs and have used a Sony a7r2 since. I soo miss the battery life and audio xlr features, as well as the Canon menu system. Blackmagic makes incredible cameras at a great price point - Actually I really just want both! (but not on the same project :)
Off topic right there with you, I love, love, love the "moody" color grading choices. Yes!!!
Thanks for the video. The side by side comparisons make it easy to see the differences. I like your colorgrade, it is super nice. In the last clip you might be just to generous with the skin smoothing, is it in Premier or maybe a Pro Mist filter?
Sara, you do know that on the P6K you can load a LUT into the camera and bake it into the recorded video.
wanted to get the C200 or Fs5ii before the BMPCC 6k came out and ended up getting BMPCC 4k. Dont regret it at all only wish I had that autofocus when I really need it but yeah there is no perfect camera. Time to get the 6k
I hope you created a lut for your look. If you do you can load it directly into the pocket 6k then you can record it in the raw codec and just tweek or turn it off and start over in post
great...m using gh5 . But now i think m fall in love...with BMPCC & u😁..tnks n keep smiling😘🤗
Hello dear, I will like to buy a good Camera for video shooting my question is The black magic pocket 6K is good for music video shooting or I better buy the canon 5d mark IV? Or which camera should I buy. Please I need help for that before I buy the wrong camera
Nice collab with Scott! 🙌🙏
You should try out the Tilta flip screen for the Blackmagic
Love the color grade!
Thanks for the video, but really, those blown up highlights bothering me so much)
Great video 🙌🏽 about to snag a 6k
Hey Sara could you leave a link with the footage of both cameras? just to play with the colours and see the deference. Nice video thank you
Quickest way to match colors between two outstanding and comparable cameras is to use a color chart. Resolve does a wonderful job in mitigating any color skew different manufacturers have and just give you the proper color using charts from many of the best brands out there. X-Rite Colorchecker Passport is my go-to. Then all you need to do is copy and paste your tweaked color grades to the matching camera clips with minimal tweaking.
Damnnnnn.. those colors are so moody, love them. ❤️😍🔥Great job with the grade Sara!
Love your content
Both look amazing
I think the Bmpc 4K is good enough for me
It just goes to show how solid the c200 is when it’s 8 bit 4:2:0 codec looks good next to the 6k’s prores
When doing these test you should really consider using a different color space like aces instead of the davinci default.
top tip. uses acces colour space, matching cameras becomes much easier x
Yeah, I'm one of those guys who has a different preference on exposure. Not a big fan of punchy shadows, at least not for overcast daytime shots. Always went light/soft on shadows for anything overcast. Still like the color though.
P.s. Still waiting on a C100 mkiii or as7iii.
If you have a xrite color chart and some grey scale charts you can make presets to help give a good starting “match” that will make your workflow easier. I do it for my Sony cameras with canon and it helps a lot.
Also just having the knowledge of where canon places it’s greens or yellow, etc... helps so you know where to bend the hues when correcting. For instance, Sony’s Cyans tend to bend more in the green direction.
Love your videos
hello I bought a new one. I want to ask a question. With the original battery you can record how long 12: 1 6 k.
Do you think it's normal for me 10 minutes?
How loud is the fan on the 6k? Loud enough to make using it as an interview camera difficult ?
Great impression of/for both camera's. For me, c200 wins: autofocus, ND, reliable (battery life). But then, so unfortunatly there isn't 10/12 bit out SDI/HDMI on the c200.
Hey thanks for the review, I have a blackmagic 2.5k and a sony a7 now that I want to upgrade I was thinking about going back to canon.... not so sure anymore. How do you deal with lenses and adapters, i have good sony lenses that i can't use on my blackmagick and I see you have kind of the the same issue, just wondering how you deal with it. Great video cheers!
Great video! Though for fast turn arounds I'm going to stick with my Sony stack for now. I'll keep my eye on black magic though
Yeah the speed is essential if your clients wouldn't know the difference. Depends on the work I guess :)
Are the handheld BMPCC shots stabilized in post?
Seems like comparing apples to oranges for the C200 is a ready to go field camera and the BM is a camera block waiting to be built upon so image structure is the only thing to test.
Such a sick colour grade 👌🏻
Great video! I'd love to get a C200 but the codecs are a bit of a dealbreaker for me. Canon's RAW light is anything but, those files are HUGE, and the only alternative is 8-bit 4:2:0. The middle ground I'd use more often is sorely lacking. 10-bit 4:2:2 is the industry standard nowadays and not including it only to protect the C300 II sales is kind of a dick move from Canon.
Damn it. Now I'm gonna have to watch The Secret Life of Walter Mitty again this weekend.
PS: Good video Peachy Dietschy!
What lens do you user with the bmmpcc 6k tell me please
At first I thought this video was from the old days based off the thumbnail it reminded me of the old mic type comparison video..
Awesome can you compare the c200 with a dslr like a 6d mark ii to really see the difference?
I wonder about the heavy CA in the slowmo shots. Is Canon really that bad wide open?
This is great!
That grading on the Black Magic though 👏👏👏
So is a separate colorgrading software or plugin really necessary over lumetri color in Premiere Pro?
What is a film convert does? Is it a lut
