- We start our 2023 Magnifique France Tour at Black Horse Farm Caravan and Motorhome Club Site where we stay on a Ferry Pitch. The early morning start takes us to the Folkestone Eurotunnel Terminal where we board the train destined for Calais. Once in France, we continue our journey to Domain de Drancourt where we stay for 2 nights. A beautiful walk in Saint Valery sur Somme concludes the first part of our road trip.

Thanks for watching our videos. We include all things to do with motorhomes, campervans, van conversions, caravans and the great outdoors. We mainly tour the UK and camp around 80 nights per year in our 2021 IH Motorhomes N-680 CRL luxury VW Crafter van conversion. It looked a really lovely site and town and an area where you could relax and enjoy the French way of life it’s that I enjoy about France and have had many happy holidays all over the country one of my favourites is Provence!

We were in Saint Valery last week and took our 2 beagle boys to the Vet on the main street. No appointment needed. Open 5pm - 7pm Mon - Fri. Note, emergencies only at weekends so need to be prepared for that. Very helpful, vet who spoke excellent English and was very experienced in the dreaded health certificates - and disagreed with them as much as me! He much preferred passports. €55.60 for both dogs. Would recommend the vet and Saint Valery ☺

How nice to be able to just drive over to France! Glad your friends were able to get their MH fixed and able to go along. Loved the donkey and beautiful horse! Plus the lovely old buildings! So much history! Vive la France!

I wanna ride on the ferry 😁 looks like a lovely place to spend time with friends. Please tell me you went down the slide on the playground! 😂 I totally would have lol. Love that little town. And the church is gorgeous! Mmmm crème brûlée. Never had it. Need to try it one day! Wow. Over 4 hours is a good bit of time to wonder around a little town. Course I probably would too. I’d be taking pics like Joe lol. A great start to your adventure!
We were so pleased we chose this campsite and location. Saint Valery was so beautiful that the historic buildings and the warm friendly atmosphere of the place kept us there all afternoon. Beautiful road trip to beautiful places. Not even a speck of litter anywhere. Wish our towns were that clean. Cute Trev and Joe have matching hats now. Easier for the ladies to keep an eye on them 😉😆💕

Thank you Tony, this was a fabulous place to start the tour and so family friendly. We spoke to a family from Reading that come here every year with their children as it’s the same distance for them as Cornwall or Yorkshire. It’s the same for us. Despite an early start and having time to do our grocery shopping, we were on the campsite by lunchtime. Sue was in the pool and I was opening my first beer by 3pm. What a way to start 😂👍🏻💙🚐 Trev

The process is quite straightforward with dogs but the Vets do like to charge a small fortune for what seems to be a few bits of paperwork 🤷🏼♂️ However, ours are good travellers and they are used to the motorhome wherever it is 😃🐕🐕 Trev
@@PoshcatsCamping Thanks Trev glad to hear it’s quite straightforward 👍🏻 I know you’ve done it a few times, have they ever checked the dog food since the Brexit changes? We will have to change the food he’s on to one we can buy over there but not sure how much they look at, from other channels it seems they are mostly concerned with gas rather than meat content?!
@@Goldenretrieverandacampervan We take a little of their normal canned food but it’s heavy so we have to buy it when we are away. Vans are checked randomly for foods but we have never been picked before. If your dog has a special diet, you can get a letter from your vet stating this so you can carry what you need. 🙂

That repair Bill Wouldn't be Cheap from a Merc Main Dealer 🤯
Thank you 😊 Joe’s campervan has suffered from a number of intermittent problems like this with engine management issues. None of the independent dealers have been able to get to the bottom of it so the only way out was a Merc Dealership. Finally the van is now able to be trusted again but it was touch and go right to the last minute. 😖😃🚐👍🏻 Trev

Black Horse was always our last stop in UK..before we jumped on the ferry for France..
It’s very convenient and has everything you need in those circumstances. We only live 2 hours from Folkestone (on a good day) so we are going to try “Ipswich to France in 4 hours” on one of our trips. I am sure it’s possible to save the nearly £40 the CAMC charge for an overnight stop 😃🚐💙 Trev

Love the video. We are new to motor homing and I am wondering why you took the chunnel and not the ferry. I have looked and it seems much cheaper on the ferry... looking forward to watching the rest of your adventure.
It’s pretty straightforward really. Ferry is often bumpy and takes longer. Dogs don’t really like ferries and nor do I. It’s cheaper booking through the CAMC and choosing an early train 7:30am or thereabouts (there’s loads to choose from all day and evening). You only need to check in one hour before departure and the ride is 35 minutes. Staying with your vehicle and pets is no problem. We were in France and well clear of Calais and done our shopping before 11am. That left the rest of the day to do as we pleased. Well worth the little extra cost 😃👍🏻🚐 Trev

The pitch cost was between £28 and £30 per night when you add in the 2 dogs and local taxes that are paid in euros on arrival. This makes the campsite very similar to UK prices. Hope that helps 🙂 Trev
