- We got off the Eurotunnel train in Calais France and started the long journey south making a few stops along the route. Our first park up was a beautiful French Aire and our second destination exceeded all expectations at Château de l'Epervière.

I’m supposed to be watching the highlights but I’m enjoying the full experience 😂. Now you’re settled in France I’m opening my wine, it’s sparkly but from Treviso in Italy. A bit easier on the purse strings than Champagne 🍾 😊. Thanks for sharing your journey. BTW I would have stayed a week on that Aire!

I stayed at that Aire for.a few nights back in (I think) 2009 when I was doing a travel piece/motorhome test for Which Motorcaravan (as it was called then) magazine. Lovely spot. Great video, too. 🙂

Hi, great video, the aire is handy with the loos, nice scenery as you travel , you were lucky with the aire by the river, it looks nice and warm and very peaceful, lovely campsite, you will all be wanting a good rest after all the driving x
It was a very long first 2 two days of driving but we didn’t take the fastest route all of the time. We wanted to stop and see some of the local places so made a few detours from the motorways. This pushes up travel time but does make the journey more interesting 😃 This campsite is beautiful and really made our rest day enjoyable with everything we needed around us. Fantastic you made it across, love the walkie talkie idea when in the tunnel and generally. Great thinking! Looks like you are having a great time and weather looks good. Lovely idea to go with others rather than alone too - we are watching with interest, Rachel’s mum used to live near Limoges so we spent a bit of time in France in years gone by and we want to revisit at some point.

Thank you 😊 France is such an enormous country compared with England and there is so much more space. The little old towns are beautiful and the old stone building all tell a story. We are deeply saddened by the death of the Queen but know that at 96 years and having served all her life she could not have done more. Looks like you're having a great time, dogs seem to be enjoying their hols too, Sophie looks as if she's lost a little weight, hope her recovery is going well.
Hi Terry, Sophie’s weight is fine. We had both of them stripped the week before we came out to France so they kept cooler. Sophie’s coat was overdue because of her illness, so it was very thick hence she looks smaller now. We have been worried about a little cyst that has appeared on the site of the removed eye which we will be watching closely and if necessary we will seek veterinary intervention. Haha Sue grabbing up the giant bottle of champagne. The pastries look amazing. If I was to ever go to France, I would stuff myself on their pastries. Loving all the old buildings and quaint towns. I took French I’m high school. Don’t remember too much of it. I’d have to rely on my iPhone translator 😂. What a super fun trip.
France and now Italy have so many old towns. We visited a 12th century town this week which was awesome 😎 Trev

Love your latest Adventure Guys. Could you tell me which Sat Nav you use. I have a 2020 Ducato which has a fitted Navteq which I find confusing and unreliable , I am going to France and Switzerland and I’m in my late 70s so need all the reliable help I can get.
We have a 2017 Ducato and the Sat-nav isn’t ‘Motorhome specific’ i.e. it doesn’t take into account MH measurements and weight. We’ve recently returned from a 2,000mile trip in France and used Co-pilot app on our iPhone which does take into account size of MH - we compared that with the MH Sat Nav during the trip and found it was much better. Being used on an iPhone it is a bit smaller but save’s buying a dedicated Sat Nav.
Agree with Allan. We have the Caravan and Motorhome Club Garmin system which is great in the UK but is not so special in Europe so we are taking some extra guidance from Google Maps. 🚐 Trev

Great video, how many speed cameras have you gone through so far , we done around trip of approximately 1800 miles and went through about 200 speed cameras got flashed 3 times so be careful, thanks pete

I was travelling at 110kph in a 130kph and still had a camera flash me
@@petepoole1827 sounds about right 😃 The Italian roads are chaotic and lorry avoidance tactics is the best way 😉

Glad to hear you guys made it. Probably a lot less crazy than anything at home right now. Does the Queen passing change any of your travel plans or screw up passports or anything?

So sorry have heard about our majesty the Queen Elizabeth Il passed away on the 8th of September in the afternoon at her home in Balmoral castle 🏰 Scotland so now we have a new king..! King Charles III and Camilla is called queen's counsel rip Queen Elizabeth Il sorry if you have already heard the news
We have heard the news and we have spoken to other Brits in Italy where we are currently located. It’s a very sad time but Queen Elizabeth 2nd was such a wonderful monarch who we believe leaves a lesson for us all.
