Great video! I saw both parts and they were great! My take:The A2A has better aesthetics, larger capacitors, larger power supply, Dolby atmos height virtualization, removable power cord, stabilization foot for vibrations, better remote, external remote input for enclosures, 5-year warranty when you register. Read a review from someone who had both to see which one he wanted to keep, and he said the A2A clearly sounded noticeably better. Before I purchased mine, I read the comparison specs on numerous sites before I pulled the plug, and I couldn't be happier! The A2A sounds fantastic! I also heard the Denon3700, and the A2A is clearly the best of the two in my opinion (most sites compare the A2A to the 2700 Denon) coming from a previous Onkyo owner. However; I went in knowing like most about the software/hardware update and I will say from my experience the problem seems to be the first 3 HDMI ports, There's no literature that tells you if all the HDMI ports are 2.1 or the first 3 but from my testing, it's the first 3. So I have my BD Player, Chromecast, Xbox, and 4K Firestick occupying HDMI 4-7 and they work fine there for now.

@@zhangliubao The spec indicates the A2 will support 4K 120Hz, through 2.1 HDMI cable. My current PC passthrough A2A output to Hisense 75A7500F, the interface only shows 4K at 60Hz.

Thanks for the great review. The A2A is $599 refurbished from accessories4less, the V6A is $499, so the A2A is much more discounted. On paper they looked very similar but it sounds like it's probably worth the $100 difference. I'm upgrading from an RX-V385 so I imagine either one will be an improvement.
Amazing and very thorough review! Thank you so much! :) Was thinking of getting the V6A but I think I'll just put another 100$ and get this one instead.
TLDR: Already owned it and I like to test things. Long answer: I had the firestick. I don’t use it as often now ever since I got this receiver. I use the chromecast more often now. Sometimes I use the built in tv apps. Sometimes the Xbox and PlayStation. Yes the shield is definitely better and would definitely make sense with this receiver but I just have too many devices already lol. I may get it if they release a new version. I like to test things as well and it looks like my firestick 4K wasn’t as amazing as I originally thought but then again it doesn’t cost much.
I have had one for over a month now for testing. Up until Christmas Eve, it had some major issues and I could not recommend it. Now with the new firmware, it helped it a lot. 95% of HDR10 banding is now gone. Atmos high channels also sounds a lot better, but still needs work to get on the level of other receivers. If I had to put a number on it, the atmos is about 85% from being perfect. Pre firmware update the center channel would play and overwhelm the height channels and make it impossible to tell you have height/overhead speakers. Atmos was a mess. Glad to see Yamaha finally starting to work out the issues.
Have you noticed any audio lag when outputting your Xbox Series X audio thru eARC from your LG OLED? My current receiver has an awful amount of lag when using ARC from my LG CX, so much so that I can barely stand to use it. Don’t have the issue with PS5, Switch, PC, etc. Considering the A2A to be able to run eARC until they issue a fix for the passthru incompatibility (if that ever happens), but don’t want to drop the $$$ if it remains an issue.
@@landpet So, I ended up picking up the A2A, and feeding the audio out to the receiver thru eARC from my CX results in significantly reduced audio lag compared to my previous receiver (which had a lag of about 100ms, but ONLY for Xbox Series X, and not PS5, PC, or Switch). That said, the audio still is not perfect on Xbox. I have noticed while watching video that the picture constantly hitches as the audio tries to resync. It's subtle, but it is very noticeable to me. I also find that the receiver causes my elevated front speakers to emit a fairly sharp and piercing click when it's transitioning between Atmos and 5.1. Finally, on my Xbox, when the video starts to hitch, there is a lot of noise in the audio, sort of like someone put a speaker on a snare drum. No issues with any other console or source.
I just purchased the Yamaha RX V6 a last week and I have it all set up at my home. It sounds killer, so much fun to listen to! I don’t know if the A2 would be noticeably better or not but I certainly can appreciate that the larger capacitor supposed to deliver more performance. I am having a problem with my Satellite tv blinking in and out on HDMI #4 which I’m incredibly unhappy about but I’ll try a new cord today to see if that fixes my problem.

From what I've seen the RX-A2A is the replacement of the A880. Seems like the replacement of the A1080 will be the upcoming A4A. However A4A is not out yet so the A2A is the latest model of the Aventage line. In some aspects the A2A is better, in other aspects the A1080 is better.
Depends what you're looking for, the 2080 and 3080 can power more speakers with more power among other things. They are higher end receivers compared to the A2A. The A2A is just newer and has hdmi 2.1 among a few other things that the others do not. The 2080 and 3080 will be replaced with the A6A and A8A later this year or next from what I've seen.

there has been an update but not for that yet.
What can be used as a airplay replacement on android
I have a question. What happens when you press the display button in the remote? Mine doesn’t do anything. My old TSR-3850 the display button would show several tv screens showing audio, video, network, and system parameters.
Turns on/off the browse screen, playback screen, etc.
@@landpet that’s a paste from the manual. I read that too. Can you tell which is the BROWSE screen? The PLAYBACK screen? I think playback is when listening to streaming music, like Tidal. Browse screen, don’t know.
Hi you know you stuff i dont wonder if you could help i have the yamaha Avetage RX-A1080 and its been damaged buy the shop and there going to replace with this av you have reviewed is it a down grade or up grade please help .thank in advance
Hello my hesitation :
Buy Yamaha rxa 2a
Or Yamaha rxa 2080
Or Yamaha rxa 3080
What the better please ?
Depends what you're looking for, the 2080 and 3080 can power more speakers with more power among other things. They are higher end receivers compared to the A2A. The A2A is just newer and has hdmi 2.1 among a few other things that the others do not. The 2080 and 3080 will be replaced with the A6A and A8A later this year or next from what I've seen.
Hello my hesitation yamaha rxa2a or DENON avc 6700h ? My composition 4 Bw 705 s2 and centrale Bw htm71s2 and subwoofer svs pb2000 ..... Yamaha rxa2a quite powerfull????
I think it has plenty of punch, definitely feels like it's too powerful for my speakers, then again your speakers are another level. I'm happy with my yamaha.
Maybe it's just my receiver, but the RX-A2A sounds distorted in my setup.
Audio, movies, anything, no matter the source (hdmi/bluetooth/airplay).
However i calibrate it (YPAO) or manually, the highs sound as if they have some sort of hollow/cold tin/metal-like distortion.
The mids seem pretty absent and the bass seems to dominate way too much..
Anybody else experiences this or knows what the issue might be??
Tried different cables (including good 6mm), different speakers (Jamo S809 and Klipsch).
maybe you got a faulty unit
Where am i going to get good quality speakers?
They sell speakers like these floor standing: amzn.to/2KpcFxR
I feel like other manufacturers specialize more in speakers like Polk Audio, Klipsch are two examples.
If you wanted in wall speakers, these seem like a good choice: amzn.to/39KntPy
Polk Audio also sells a center in wall speaker as well as other in wall speakers, you don't need specific speakers for a Dolby Atmos setup.
If you want a Dolby Atmos setup combo with floor standing speakers, just large speakers in general: amzn.to/2LTZIMN
There's lot of other choices from lots of other brands. I'm currently considering the Polk Audio for my next home theater setup but there will probably be other options by the time I actually do it.
Did you use a external amp with this receiver?
No
@@landpet And it handled a 5 channel setup well"?
Hey landpet is the a2a better than v6a also some say Max power on v6a is 590w and a2a is 360w is that true
I haven't checked the watts but yes the A2A is better than the V6A. Not by much but it's better and it should sound better at higher volumes thanks to it's bigger capacitors.
Thanks landpet
No problem!
Hey landpet I'm getting the Yamaha RX v6a but after a review I did from audio science they didn't have much good things to say about it did choose the wrong product
Is this enough for the Klipsch RP-8000F. I'd like to use this to power them and have turntable connected to the pre-amp input. Then have the zone 2 out connect to my tube amp which will power my headphones. Can this handle all of that?
It can power it especially if it's just the only 2 speakers. But your speakers can probably go louder than what this receiver can pump out.
@@landpet Thank you! Is there anything at a reasonable price that you'd recommend instead? I have a friend who works at Yamaha who can get me 25-50% off. That's why I'm leaning their way
@@JonathanGreyWoolf That's a phenomenal deal. I can't recommend anything else for this price range cause this thing is amazing for its price
@@landpet Thank you for the advice! I appreciate your help.
Hello my friend. This Amp can drive 2 stereo channel for music only. Is only for home theater system and game or and music?
Can you demonstrate the music cast app on android and also how you use or setup Google assistant an or Alexa on the app
Unfortunately not anytime soon, I've since moved and haven't hooked this up partly because I need to send it back to Yamaha for the HDMI 2.1 fix.
@@landpet really so did Yamaha contact you about sending it back in for the replacement and how long did it take that would be a great video information people about the hdmi board process
@@msoles30 I think they would if I had registered the receiver but I hadn't yet. But when you go to the site, it asks you to register and has some instructions on what to do to move forward. That's not a bad idea for a video, thanks for the heads up. I'll consider it for the future, still have several videos I need to get to.
@@landpet so you just sent it back on your own
@@msoles30 I haven't done it yet, I just read about it on the site. Still need to follow through
you got it wrong. PS5 is uncompressed, XBOX is compressed
I got my info from avs forums. People are saying PS5 will work because it has a compressed signal unlike the xbox series x and Nvidia cards. www.avforums.com/threads/news-denon-marantz-and-yamaha-av-receivers-hit-by-hdmi-2-1-bug.2321131/page-9
@@landpet I got info here ua-cam.com/video/e4N95PynVh8/v-deo.html
@@powerinnumbers6159 lol, now I have to do more research cause they are both conflicting. Either way I'm very curious because Yamaha has it listed as 4K120AB compatible so it should handle both. I got my PS5 today after trying for months, so I have everything I need to see if Yamaha will handle both. But Yamaha does need a few updates.
Don't care about the bug as I don't watch HDR ( hyped up crap ) and have no reason to buy an x box ever
When you're on any component can you minimize the Yamaha GUI and get TV with a minimized GUI? That's a great feature on my Onkyo RZ series that I would love to still have. Thanks.
I've only seen the GUI on the left side of the screen. Didn't really see an option to minimize it, just disappears and reappears.

@@landpet why they dont create their own speaker, because they know best whats the right speaker for their product..like regular stereo components
Yamaha does make speakers. Some very expensive but also some very good affordable models. Check the ns-6490
@@sepulsteve thank you
lol, so they downgraded the v6a remote, while I have the a2a remote on my v685.
Interesting, I didn’t realize the v685 had this remote
@@landpet i bought it used on ebay and got that one, maybe he bought it extra, but I guess probably it had that one
@@Henningberlin94 either way it's amazing. It probably is that one.
@@landpet yes I like these scene 1-8 buttons and use them often just for different dsp modes. so only 4 would be not so great
@@Henningberlin94 That makes sense
What absolute junk screen! Wow. I can’t believe how cheap these 8k receivers are built. No way.
Menu does seem outdated but it doesn't bother me. Aa long as it has the options, that's all that matters to me
I really did not like the new Yamaha receiver design
Not for everyone, I personally like the A2A design, not so much the V4A and V6a design.
What a complete cheapening of their products from their predecessors. Every aventage unit from the previous generation looked way better than this. Very disappointed they don't use brushed aluminum and opted for small outdated screens with plastic. Yamaha used to have pride in their products and it showed, this looks like garbage.
great review i was searching for this info
