New subscriber couple days ago, you give great reviews no filler, lots of meat and potatoes of exactly what we want to know. Unable to fish yet, so I am shopping for my next boat for the upcoming season in Canada, these videos have been a great resource. Keep up the great work.
Here is some info that was sent to me a couple years ago when I was looking at this boat. TG Canoes is great and so very helpful. the JK Big Rig HD has a true capacity of 500#. We rate the Bonafide SS127 at a 300# capacity. Our capacities are figured with performance of the watercraft in mind and these weights aboard with us paddling. Can you put more weight on board? Sure, but paddling a watercraft that paddles like a tube is not our idea of kayaking. If you are 300# and have a wide backside, the 127's seat may be a bit too narrow. Both are STABLE in their own right. The tri-hull of the 127 is made for tracking purposes - turning not so much. The BR HD tracks fine but will turn better as it has more of a shallow "V" hull. That's a thumbnail sketch of these two kayaks. Both are great kayaks
Wish id seen this video before getting my ss127 as I hadnt realized the built in rudder (love how its protected too) and only knew a person with the first big rig and how it didnt handle too well at times in waterways and that it handled like a big boat.
@@tgcanoesandkayaks well im 6'2 300 so need a bigger boat. Ive got a ackson tupelo that I love, a jackson traverse which is amazing, a native manta ray 12 which si good but barely holds me. When clearing rivers I need more capacity and something stable as theres times we work from the boats. What size paddle is usually recommended. 250 and 260cm?
Hi Bubba, it does paddle well for the size. I have the Bonafide Kayaks as well. The FDHD is the most stable kayak i have been in by far. The Bonafides feel very different on the water due to being smaller (great kayaks though). If you live near us come on down I'll let you domo them. -Alex
I have a Cuda HD. It’s a little tippier than I would’ve liked. Thinking about a Bonafide SS127 or a Big Rig FDHD. Which one would you recommend for a better fishing kayak? I fish from my Cuda HD but it’s impossible to stand and fish from. It’s just way too tippy for my liking
Howdy Bass W. The Bonafide SS127, with the tri-pontoon bottom, has more initial stability than the shallow "V" hulled Cuda HD, and the Big Rig FDHD's stability is off the charts. The original Big Rig, at 38" wide, is a good option, also. Keep in mind, these kayaks are 33.75" to 40" wide. Gaining stability through width does lower the hull speed. That said, these three still paddle well. If you live in Texas, the easiest way to figure out exactly what works for you is to come to TGCK and demo them. Wherever you live, we encourage you to paddle them first. Elimination is part of the process to get you the right kayak. If you have any questions, feel free to call us 512-353-3946. Enjoy the day.
i just picked up the FD version! with the nasty weather, i havent been able to get out on it yet, can you post a video how easy it is to stand and fish
I picked up the Coosa hd and rolled it last week just from leaning over little to far. Yesterday went out again and strap my yeti 20 in and felt supper wobbly. Now I’m wishing I would have got the big rig. Running Texas rivers the coosa had the best reviews and was said to be the best all around yak. But for my son who is 5’10 160 pounds maybe it is. But for me at 6’ 1” and 275 thinking the big rig is maybe where I should have went????
Sorry to hear you are not enjoying the Coosa HD. Personally I am 6'2" 275 and the Coosa HD is my Texas River runner. The Big Rig 1st Gen will give you the stability that you seek, with less maneuverability (great kayak as well).
@@tgcanoesandkayaks oh I do love my boat. And I think it's kinda in my head since I rolled it. Now maybe I'm thinking more about it?? I'm sure it will pass and ill get back to no regrets. I know I stopped in your shop one day few weeks ago and you and I spoke for awhile about the different boats. After stopping at Austin kayak and feeling like I was dealing with used car sales men. You told me then that you ran the HD.
Big D, the Big Rig HD should handle your size easily and it should be STABLE. I say that because we have sold the original Big Rig to a 400# fella and he felt comfortable right away. The BRHD is an inch longer but, more importantly, 2 inches wider adding more capacity and stability to the original Big Rig. Wanna make sure? Come demo one.
We are located in San Marcos. Head over to the Jackson kayak website and see if there is a dealer in your area. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend you always demo a kayak before you buy.

Wow thanks so much for the positive feedback, it means a lot. Appreciate you taking the time.
Awesome walk-through and test on the HD. Good job man.
Thank you for the kind words :)

It's all ready to go incase you want to drop in the peddle drive system. These are very large kayaks, not everyone will enjoy the size.

Great video! Do you have any other videos of the Big Rig HD on the water?, with views showing more of the Yak and seated and standing positions shown?
Thank you, currently this is the only video I have shot with the Big Rig HD.
Nice!! Seems to paddle fairly well for being such a wide yak. I’m torn between this, the bonafide, the frontier and pursuit.

My dream kayak!
The HD is a great kayak if you are seeking incredible stability and high load capacity. Really nice kayak.

can you do a video on a fish finder install?
Hi Tyric, I don't have one, so I don't believe I will be making video covering that.
Was it tough paddling in the wind?
Surprisingly for being 40" wide it handled just fine for me. If you are looking for max stability and load capacity this kayak is great.
