Railway Contrasts Alongside North Road Kew (London)

Sometimes I hear complaints about transport enthusiasts only seeming to film trains from station platforms and passageways.

Of course for the subterranean parts of the Underground it is nigh-on impossible to do anything else!

However, this film breaks the mold and uses only lineside and footbridge views. The location is the section of District and North London Lines just to the south of Kew Gardens station and includes views from the 1980's all the way to September 2011.
Filmed in all weathers - rain, wind, sun, etc. I might add some snow scenes as well, if I get around to filming any.

Thanks for the tip, no I've never been there before but it sounds good.. SWT have a variety of trains passing through that way, getting the Over and Underground trains would be an added bonus.

Pete, in today's news you may hear that Einstein is now believed to have been wrong in saying that nothing can travel faster than light. So there's hope yet for time travel ;-)
But before going I need to get a 'back wired' 3CCD HD camcorder as this will let me benefit from the best possible imagery - even in lower light conditions. Also on my list of destinations are the 3rd rail electric trains in Liverpool, Manchester & Tyneside.
Oh... "if only" such a trip really was possible!

Happily, apart from the vegetation blocking some views this is still one of the easier places to film.
Sorry no film with sound, but I do have some silent film - you may have seen my films of the joint LMR / Bakeroo Line trains on the Watford service. I uplifted these to UA-cam several years ago.

Very good footage despite it being more difficult these days.
Have you got any film of the 501s between Watford junction and Euston or Broadstreet with sound? They were my favourite.

The best footbridge in that area is the one where the LSWR branches off the Distric & North London Lines near Richmond you haven't got any clips from there have you?

@citytransportinfo Pity no 501s with sound. I used to travel all the way from Watford junction to Watford high Street on the 501s back in 1984-5.

cool 🍸 you filmed R stock, ever the world's fanciest underground train -- crazy to think I'd thought them as ordinary, taking them for granted even...I'd try ever so hard to pretend we'd be riding through the subway whenever Districting underneath Manor Circus there...knowing Kew was to never e v e r quit being scared nighttime by plane headlights happening to swoop over you whenever they got switched on prepping for final approach :brrrRrr:
