- Purchase and first run of a 1938 Allis Chalmers WC that has been slightly modified since leaving the West Allis Factory. Sorry for the audio quality it was a very windy day when we filmed this.

I would keep all the mods on it. Shows farmer ingenuity. I have a '54 wd45 that was converted to propane in the mid '60s. Gas tank was removed and LP tank was installed in it's place. Uses Century vaporizer and carb. I use it to mow my pasture and take to the antique show 3 miles from my place to pull wagons of ear corn to our crib to be shelled and put my 3 bottom mounted plow on and make a few rounds. The show is in west-central Illinois about 25 miles east of Moline. Check out the web site at AE-TA.com. This years show is September 15,16, and 17. Oliver is feature tractor this year.
As a kid we had a local guy that had a sawmill, and he used an unstyled WC to load logs- he had live hydraulics on it, I think some sort of belt or chain coupled pump off the end of the crankshaft, I recall it had a reservoir tank and a valve setup for the loader. The sawmill was mostly home built too. Never saw the guy with any tools but a torch, stick welder and some wrenches. Funny thing is he built all that but never had running water in the house.
Dad's WC block cracked in the same place. We had some fiberglass body filler "bondo" for an automotive project I was workin on, so that's what got used to fix the crack. 10 years later when it got sold? No leaks, run great.

3020. When the Allis Dealer dad liked closed in the mid 60's they switched to John Deere since they had the nearest dealership...

lol, I think between me, my brother Andrew, and Luke the Allis Chalmers outnumber the John Deeres at the farm by about an 8 to 1 ratio

I got 2 John Deere my grandpa had, a 60 and 720… they make me appreciate the Allis Chalmers so much more
@@RJ1999x Always pull up on the crank and keep your thumb on the same side as your fingers also stand so that if it back fires so the crank has room to spin and hopefully miss YOU!! I also noticed a 3 grove pulley on the front of the motor, maybe to run a live hydraulic pump for a loader?
