I’m still waiting for one feature from MS2 to come back: when entering lyrics, hit tab to register a space. This was awesome when it’s needed to insert more than one word per note.
I have been using MuseScore 2 ever since 2016 (never switched to 3, I'm switching directly to 4 now), and I had no idea you can press tab to do that. I always used Ctrl + space.
While it's great to have the flexibility to do this, I'm just wondering what your specific use case is. Wouldn't it add ambiguity for the vocalist? I was always taught that each syllable should be assigned a note, and each note should only have a single syllable, except where notated with an apostrophe (eg. every = ev'ry).
Quick question: MS3 has the ability to paste in lyrics a word at a time, recognizing spaces and hyphens and stuff. So far, seems like MS4 is missing this functionality. Is it coming soon in an upcoming release?
Does MS4 now recognise and play augmented sixth chord symbols (It+6, Fr+6, Ger+6)? Also, if you input roman numerals instead, will MS4 now recognise the key and playback the appropriate chords? In UK we use a, b, c etc for root, 1st inversion etc of chords suffixed to roman numerals; does playback (if applicable) recognise and support these?
It seems like you're possibly confounding chord symbols with figured bass and/or roman numerals (which are analytical symbols). It+6 isn't a "chord" in the same way that Gm7 is, and is context dependent. You are probably looking for the Roman Numerals feature. I know in the past this was a severely lacking part of Musescore, and as a music theory teacher one of the main reasons I hadn't made the switch completely yet because I use Roman numerals and figured bass regularly. I haven't got into the program to know if it's been implemented yet.

I do a lot of arranging for guitar, and one of my biggest gripes with MuseScore 3 is how it handles capos. Finding the capo setting is tricky in the first place, and when it’s added, the capoed chords appear beside the original in brackets. This gets cumbersome when you have long chord names - you get ugly things like “G#m7b5 (F#m7b5)”, which not only takes up a lot of space, but is also hard to read when playing it. All professional scores I’ve seen will put this chord above the original chord, either in bold, italics, or brackets. Are there any plans to improve the capo system in MuseScore 4?
MS3 chord input used to support tab to advance to next measure which was a useful short-cut for me. MS4 doesn't support this unfortunately. Guess there is some kind of input focus conflict maybe.
is there a way of formatting lyrics that change between 1st and 2nd endings of a repeat? For example, let's say for the first run through you want phrase A and for the repeat you want a phrase B. How do you get the lyrics tool to recognize repeat symbols with 1st and 2nd endings? Especially when you have multiple syllable words and you don't want the dashes to go through the 1st ending measure for the second ending lyrics. I hope I'm making sense. Too bad I can't paste an example in the comments!
Has there been any consideration given to stacking chord extensions vertically versus horizontally. With a chord like G7(#9) #5, measures can get crowded quickly if they are three chords in one measure. If there was a vertical option to stack extensions. Love your software and thanks for all of the hard work to get version 4 on the street.

Never mind, I figured it out, Format>Style. Is there a way to get font/style settings to pop up when you click text? I feel like that was a nice feature in MuseScore 3, it made text font/size editing quicker.
I'd like to extend lyrics and pushed "shift + hyphen", "-" is written on the lyrics. As for MS3, I can extend the lyrics with under bar, but it doesn't work on MS4. How should I do?
Please add Oud or arabic guitar, kurdish sass and turkish ones. The number of instruments are limited and its difficult to add different textures and melodies
It'd be best to go to musescore's site and make this request. It's an open source project that encourages community suggestions and even code contributions. However, make sure you check any community and submission guidelines to allow your proposal to be as useful and practical as possible!
I have lyrics and i have the chord progress for a song im working on, all i was looking for was a program that I could paste the song with the progression into with out having to rebuild it from scratch, chord progressions over the top of lyrics here is a example (Verse: C C D C Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you F E C C Happy birthday dear [name], happy birthday to you) Or something like this ([C] Happy Birthday to [G7] you, Happy Birthday to [C] you,) or something like C C D C C C D C happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you I have not seen a porgram able to do this, I would think there was away to knock this out fast to see how a song would sound like.. thanks again for the hard work just having trboule with what i have and what i need the software to do
@@michaelnorris2522 The sharp sign is slightly different; the hash is a close approximation that's actually on the keyboard. The chord text option automatically converts the hash into a sharp sign.
@@Sierox No, the character itself is called a hash. A hash tag is a combination of a hash plus a word or words, for the purpose of _tagging_ (organizing information on a website).

Advancing to the next measure is changed from version 3.6. Control (or Command) right arrow now accomplishes that. It is in the downloadable manual.

If I'm not wrong this function was also in musescore 3.6 with the shortcut Ctrl+Space, I guess it still is on this new version 4

On Mac you can press Option+Tab, I believe the Windows/Linux equivalent is Alt+Tab

We have a lot of lyric changes coming very soon in our next release. You can expect it in around 2-3 months.

to remove the shortcut TAB when adding chords was a huge mistake! This shortcut was way usefull!

I can't find a way to add unconnected text below the score on a page, listing additional verses, describing the composition, etc.
but how do you have the lyrics showing above the bass notes? the lyrics keeps showing below the bassnotes which I dont want
In 3 version we can do elision like: ME_ES in one note with
ME [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[-] ES.
Version 4 have not this key option. Isn't it?

Double up your lyrics on a note using the extender line. On a Mac - Shift+hyphen
You can add lryics to rests, but you can't press the spacebar to advance to the next, which is an annoying oversight.
"Shift + - " does not seem to work for extending a line. I have the latest version.
just randomly found out if press "-" first and then press "shift + -" as your "NEW WORD" under the NEXT note, you get the extended line

I'm having a issue where I type in a minor chord symbol and after pressing space it changes to a lowercase m. Is there a way to fix this?
Minor chord is always shown with a lower case m. I have seen a capital M sometimes used to show major chords, but that's uncommon.
