I never had made a lead sheet before - I'm a choral person - and I have to say I was stunned by how easy it was in Misescore! Being able to play back the cord symbols - alter the chord shapes are quite basic - is incredibly useful for people like me who don't normally have anything to do with Jazz
Excellent video. I'm new to Mac AND MuseScore so the learning curve is quite steep. Your video really helped as that's the type of music I write out for Contra Dance & English Country Dance. The program I used in the past on PCs ... for forever, is no longer supported so I've been looking for an app/program to replace it. Your fluency here is very encouraging.
Absolutely Brilliant. This is the best way to customise a sheet I have seen on UA-cam. It will save me time but more importantly I can make it user friendly for me!!
Bro, this deserves so much more views! Although it was made on Muse 3, it was all that I needed to get going with Muse 4. Thank you so much. Really appreciated.
@@julianbrezon Thanks for responding. Although I want to apologize cause my "you need to..." comment may have come across as a demanding way-of-being. But I actually was quite excited when I came across this video! It is an amazing video, dude! Which is why I subbed to this channel. In fact, if you have any new ideas, you may want to consider doing the videos of that idea.
Nice. I do this a lot, but not so accurately a real book style. A few points. Make a shortcut for adding the line breaks. I use a '/'. Saves so much time. One keystroke formats the page. Your second line is rhythmically the same as the first, select the first line hit R and it repeats. Adjust pitches as needed. If you'd already added the chords, they'll be included. In fact 'R' for repeat is really useful. For single notes and measures or parts thereof. To make a dotted quarter eighth note group, put in two quarters. Then add the dot to the first, the second adjusts automatically. Works with Halfs and quarters and Eighths and sixtheenths, all dotted rhythms. The tie keystroke, '+' on the numeric pad doesn't work on Musescore 4 but it can be restored by assigning the shortcut.
Around 3:04, you mentioned you are using "key casting software." So you have to buy this software to enter notes into Musescore? Or does this software feature come in Musescore? I'm not familiar with key casting software. Overall, a very helpful video. Thanks for posting it.
I've made hundreds of these lead sheets and I am in the process of making collections of songs. I figured out how to change the page numbers by going to Format and then Page Settings. Then, I convert to PDF. I am still trying out different programs for combining the PDF's into a single document. Has anyone else done this? In other words, I'm trying to make a printed Fake Fake Book.
You can use the bracket keys [ or {, one of those, to make them smaller, and } or ] for larger. I don't think there's a function to make them exactly equal.

Great, I'm glad this video was helpful

That was a perfect example of how a really skilled person makes a professional looking sheet. Thanks, very useful!
Thanks! Please watch the new version for musescore 4 if you have updated to the new version!
Very helpful! Thanks. To anyone using MuseScore 4, the 'Inspector' is now on the left side, under 'Properties'
Thanks for reminding me to make a new version of this for ms4

thank you for your comment!
best musescore editing video i’ve ever seen!! thanks for all the tricks
Glad you enjoyed it. I'm planning on making a video for version 4 soon. Some new shortcut keys

Thank you! Let me know if there are any related topics you'd like to see videos on
Outstanding! Thanks so much. I picked up and learned so many tips and shortcuts in this video. The very best tutorial of all that I have researched!
Thank you, I plan to make a new version for MS4 soon so please stay tuned
You need to do an updated video of all this with the new msstudio
You're right! I will do that

Great. Thanks..Clear, Quick and Easy. Appreciated.
Awesome tutorial! Thank you! 🙏

Thanks, didn't know about R. I use Return for line breaks, and I use T/+ for ties.
Awesome, thanks for this!! I'd be keen to see a tutorial on making rhythm cues if you've done this in style of new real books?
Legend!
Yes I have a video called drum cues in musescore if that's what you mean

Sorry for the confusion. No, that's just for showing on screen what keys I'm pressing, and it's unrelated to using Musescore
@@julianbrezon Great, thanks for the quick reply.
Thank you very much for the video! Do you know if it's possible to put just the chord symbols and no pentagram/score at all?
I would use iReal Pro for that. I don't think you can make the whole score invisible
Do you know if there is a way to detect chords after importing MIDI?
There is a chord identifier plug in I haven't tried personally musescore.org/en/project/chord-identifier-pop-jazz

If you have bars of unequal measures, do you know how to make them of equal width?
You can use the bracket keys [ or {, one of those, to make them smaller, and } or ] for larger. I don't think there's a function to make them exactly equal.
Many thanks@@julianbrezon
can you add rythm to the chords? thank you
If you write out a rhythm and then put chords over the notes, yes
@@julianbrezonthank you. could you give me more detail? I don't understand very well.
👍
