A very promising start to what I'm sure will turn into an emotional rollercoaster. I'm already in love with the artstyle, its rich colorpalette and beautiful city design. While this episode only teased a part of their problematic backstory, I have no doubt Vi and Powder will unfortunately have their biggest struggles still ahead of themselves. I hope you enjoyed my first time watching Arcane! We're already on episode 5 over on www.Patreon.com/Robinoyo! If you enjoyed my reaction, you can watch the next 4 episodes there right now! Thanks for watching :)
This show restored my faith that we still can get amazingly produced shows that don’t treat it’s audience like idiots, with complex characters and amazing dialogue, you are in for a treat.
@@rinshaolin94 yeah, it’s funny because Arcane is as diverse as it gets, strong female characters, representation etc. shows that all we care about is a good story and characters, diversity is nice too, but the producers got their priorities straight.
Hehe, it's funny you noticed Piltover looked like a French city because Fortiche, the studio that was in charge of all visual aspects of Arcane (direction, storyboards, models, textures, paintings, 2Dfx, animation, and so on...), is based in Paris and was inspired by it for Piltover :) It's explained in Arcane's making of "Bridging the Rift" also available on UA-cam :)
5:29 kinda looks like a french city. Hahaha you might be interested in the behind the scenes show "bridging the rift". The animation Studio riot invested in and worked with for the show is Fortiche, located in Paris, and they mentioned how Piltover is inspired by Paris.
Powder doesn't know the crystal exploded. She doesn't even know she dropped one. It fell as she was blindly shoving them into her pouch to run out of the apartment.
5:23 Interesting what you said about Piltover looking like a french city. Thats is exactly what the creators also said in the "Bridging the Rift" Series.
The series is exceptional IMO. The art style drew me in and I watched and knew of LOL's cinematics and characters, but it's great that they took all that lore and made this world and story.
@@Thunderworks That’s subjective, I mean I’m an adult and think ATLA is a great cartoon for kids and adults, even if geared towards kids. And I have adult friends who agree. Arcane is also great, but more exclusively for adults due to the mature themes. I’m sure some kids and teens enjoy it too though.
I think avatar has some very deep themes, but Arcane has HUGE depth and complexity to it... You could keep talking about and analyzing it for around 5 years, makes sense considering how long it took to make
So... Powder grabbed up those "blue balls" and stuffed them into her belt pouch as she was fleeing the apartment. Once fell out and rolled around a bit before exploding. Powder doesn't know that the "blue ball" is what exploded.
If I'm not wrong, design of Piltover was inspired by the look of Paris. Animation studio Fortiche is French after all. I would recommend watching Arcane's docuseries "Bridging the Rift" about how it was made after you finish the season. It's really good.
So glad you're getting into this! Don't worry too much about the show tying back to the main game, it stands on its own but most players will spot many little Easter eggs here and there. Nevertheless, happy to hang along for the ride.
The tube Grayson handed Vander was a container for a pneumatic delivery system that exists in the real world that came about in the late 19th century around the same time period that Piltover mirrors in our world. Think air-driven automated mailbox. Prior to the widespread incorporation of elevators and later emails it was the fastest means of transporting documents between floors of large buildings. They continued to see fairly widespread use up to as late as the 1960s and some modern versions are still being used today to send cash deposits from 2nd lane tellers at bank branches to the inside office, for example.
It's actually cool that you noticed the french nature in the looks of Piltover, because the animation studio 'Fortiche' resides in Paris and obviously took the inspiration from their own city. Also I sincerely recommend watching the making of to this show called 'Bridging the Rift' on Riot Games' UA-cam channel. It truly gives you more respect to the creators of the show and a really interesting look behind the scenes.
Actually the MOBA started with a Starcraft mod called Aeon of Storms. It's pretty crazy, it still exists on Starcraft 2, longest running MOBA, played it like 25 years ago lol
The cylinder that the head enforcer gave to Vander so that he can contact her is like the pneumatic system that they use when you go to the bank drive thru.
One thing I noticed are that the subtitles say:"Just by these gays",when he talked about the revenge in Vi`s eyes. Knowing Vi and the show I laughed out loud. The subtitles know what is going on
This show is my all time fave. You’ll really enjoy it. Each episode is better than the one before. And yeah as some said, powder pocketed the blue balls, the other stuff they grabbed is what’s in the water. And none of them know that one of the balls fell causing the explosion. They just think it was caused by some other means. Remember when they were in the sewer Claggor asked what happened (referring to the explosion) and Powder says she doesn’t know and she didn’t do anything (because she doesn’t realize that she dropped the explosive ball)
At this point, I'm a reaction channel of reaction channels who has watched Arcane. How the hell I'm still finding channels that I have not watched months later is beyond me
I had the same experience with dota in the custom lobby’s on WC3!! And only recently started league a few months ago and now it’s become my favorite game. You should definitely try it out and get good at it it becomes really fun!
Fun fact, the original DotA mod for WC3 was created by the people who later started Riot Games and created League of Legends. The DotA mod was left in control of another, IceFrog, who later went on to make DotA2 with Valve.
Greetings from far south, I subscribed to your channel to see your reactions to this series and most of them, if not all, have the same beredict at the beginning, empathize with the characters and what stands out is that we know a lot about them in the prologue without even One word from other characters and their environment with voice-overs and narrators that seem to give more of the role of leading narrators who expedite the plot and the fact is that they took their time here, Vi is angry with the topsiders, she is the leader of the gang She is determined, strong and knows how to fight, caring about others, Powder the little one of the group is what is called ballast or troblemaker, but this is the disadvantage of the minors, Claggor is the big and friendly one who wanted to go back for the one left behind and helps Powder when they reached the balcony, then there is Milo who is complaint all the time he has the role of locksmith without much success and fighting is not very good either and when he can it annoys Powder. adults do not go unnoticed and maybe later you will see more of them, just one more question "everything in arcane has rhyme" is difficult to see in the first episode but you will see them later.

true especially with all of the political agenda garbage forced into shows to push their narrative

When Silco says "Someone just volunteered" at the end of the episode, they show a shot of the chair that "Deckard" was previously sitting in.

One of the best written western animated tv series of all time. Definitely up there with Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Atla isn’t nearly as good..
