    Is it possible to feel proud of someone you don't know? I'm gonna say yes because I feel really proud, I can't explain how connected I feel to you by your art but I wish we were best friend Ruth :(. I'm really happy that you started a UA-cam video because I learn a lot through my sight and this will make my painting sessions easier, bless your soul!

    This is so gorgeous and so magical! I kept thinking of a background story for her because of the title you gave her. "Magic always has a price" and the fact that she was taking off the mask, made me think that she had been given a magic mask that would allow her to defeat her enemy (a dragon?), but the mask took over her control (the blackness in the eyes of the mask), and in the process of her journey she had somehow scared away the townspeople of her home, and having defeated the enemy, come home and finally taken off the mask only the find it deserted. Her expression just made me think it looked a bit like she was taking off the mask for the first time in a very long while.

    This is so beautiful. I like to think that she is a princess knight that is coming home after a long time. However, when she comes back something wiped out her town/castle and while exploring the ruins she finds the mask and starts to feel nostalgic. The nostalgia is magic and the price is her snapping out of it back to the real world. All that remains are ruins and warm memories from a long time ago.

    This is so gorgeous! I love your mythical girl. She appears to have been dressed so beautifully,at a party, and was called to go join her troops in battle! She hates to leave for she was finally in the arms of her true love.As they danced in each other’s arms, the note had come. It was secretly hidden inside a lovely scroll. No one would suspect it held such a dire message for her Majesty. She knew. Her future was within the parchment sheets.
    These were her thoughts as she stood, ready to defend her throne, her country.
    These were MY thoughts as I watched you paint and she evolved before my eyes.
    Waiting for your next adventure.💕💕💕

    I know I'm late to this video but I had an idea for this lovely lady's story. With the idea that 'magic always has a price' i was thinking she may have been a very happy woman in her life until she discovered her magic. Due to this magic she was drug into a life of stress and challenges as she used them to keep the civilians safe (the armor) but in doing so she lost her life and sense of self and donned a mask. She then visits a familiar scape and remembers the beginning she tried so hard to ignore and removes her mask to remember. Just an idea!

    Can I make her a background story?
    Magic Always Has A Price:
    She is a woman who grew up wanting to be a knight but in the time and society she’s in, a woman cannot be Knighted. She saved a travelling merchant from getting robbed one day as she was on her own journey of finding her path. This mysterious man gave her a “magical” mask to express his thanks telling her it would grant her heart’s deepest desires. Upon donning the mask out of curiosity, she found out that people saw her as a man, the mask casting a glamour but not altering her abilities nor giving her extraordinary strength. Taking the opportunity that the mask created for her, she made her dreams come true. She found a noble man who took her glamoured self in as a Squire and with him travelled the lands. Each and every pain and hardship
    She endured was all hers and true-only in a guise of a man in other people’s view because of the mask. On the day she was finally Knighted she decided to take off her mask unraveling the glamour. People then have accused her of being a witch and shunned her even though she tried explaining to them that the only “magic” she had was the mask casting a glamour. Her reward for protecting the weak was being cast out. With a heavy heart but with a heart that of a Knight true and true, she decided to still protect in the shadows. With her magical mask on hand, she guards the peace of the land which shunned her from the shadows...

      Beautiful. I was thinking of some titles if this was a book.
      The Exiled Knight.
      The Masked Knight.
      The Shadow Knight?
      I don't like the last one. But it could be a title/name she has. A knight who guides, help, and protect the people. The knight roams around the land helping people whenever she can. It is this way that she can continue being a knight and continue doing what she always have done.

    When I see this it makes me recall a fictional character that is like Joan of Arc. The title can mean that the girl used magic to help with the war and the price was her death. By death it means that even if the people didn't kill her, death would've come for her no matter what. Like death by betrayal or an accident like falling from the castle wall or suicide or maybe a dark shadow engulfing her ( if you want a mysterious death ). Or maybe after her death the price would be that she would be forgotten by all, like she never existed even when the war was won because of her and her price. LOL this is just my imagination of what maybe her story would be. I love your art and lol I love how it makes me think of stories for it.

    Lovely video, I have a question. I know some artist don't use graphite to sketch on canvas. They say it is no, no. What makes you use it? That are the pros and cons? Does it matter?

    • @aquabluerose7734
      @aquabluerose7734 6 років тому +5

      I'm an artist and while I don't know much about oil paint specifically, I would say it's probably that some artists end up getting the graphite's dust mixed up into the paint or they dont fully cover it up so it looks a bit grayish, or that some artists are "purists" about doing their image in a single media or without any errors worked out beforehand, so anything other than that is considered "wrong" by the rules for that style.

    How did you get the oil paints to be so runny at the beginning?

      John Greenewald I want to know this too!

      A WHOLE lotta Solvent probably. Solvent is what makes oil paint runnier and more liquid or thing. Add enough of it and you can make oil paints almost as thin as watercolors. Also helps is dry a tiny bit faster if the base layer is thin enough.

      Spooks ok u sound like a pro artist what is the clear stuff at the end called?

    • @spooks4421
      @spooks4421 6 років тому +6

      Jor Blah varnish! Artists LOVE the stuff! It evens out color tones (brightens the brights, deepens the darks) and gives the piece a more unified clarity! It also is designed to protect your painting for years to come and gives the painting a beautiful glossy finish that looks radiant under most lighting but not so bad there's a massive glare.
      In this one she's using Gamvar. A personal favorite of most high class, skilled oil painters, and a personal favorite of mine as well. It's the top notch varnish on the market while still being pretty affordable. It's made by the Gamblin company (or Robert Gamblin) and if you grab a bottle of it, some Gamsol Oderless Mineral Spirits, and a battle of Galkyd, you've got a pretty standard starter kit for painting with oils. (Gamsol is a solvent and Galkyd is a Medium, both a Medium and a Solvent are rather important for painting in general -but especially with oils- and Gamsol is the safest, most efficient solvent out there. Galkyd is a personal fav too, it combines well with Gamsol to create smooth layers, and mixes with colors perfectly (it can even make cheap crappy oil colors look almost like professional grade paints too in my opinion, having started with crappy paints myself but good quality materials). I hope a lot of this helped. :)
