The LZ Garage Project: Lighting Video 1
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 лис 2016
- The LZ Garage Project has begun! Step one: Lighting. We used my favorite Verilux Bulbs, and I found some new fixtures from Howard Lighting. We also added a Werner attic ladder to ensure that stuff won't pile up on the floor in the future.
Make sure to check out and subscribe to Adam's Channel to get the summary of the project. You'll get all the detail here and then the wrap-up on LZ channel.

Stay tuned for more crazy!
"Why do you want to see the Verilux? Because they are $12 bulbs and I wanna see it." That had me rolling!
from an electricians point of view you guys did a good job keep it up! i can't wait to see the end result.
@obsessedgarage So good Matty you just keep bringing different informative content and with cool people.. love all your videos keep them coming!
I really like that your not just installing it for Adam but actually explaining what it is and how it's going to work. It's cool to see him participating rather than just filming you putting the lights up, it's also pretty funny watching the both of you work together because it seems like Adam picks your brain a lot throughout the process trying to learn as much as he can as you guys work. I Really appreciate you guys sharing the videos and the ones to come, I'm literally taking notes because I plan to build my own garage one day and when I do I want to make sure I get it right. Thanks again for sharing the knowledge!
Adam is the real deal. I don't how to explain it, but there is something about him that pulls people in. I don't often like doing this kind of stuff with other people, but I found this to be very enjoyable.
awesome guys cant wait to see the next installment see you then
I laughed at the 'They are 12 dollars a bulb and i wanna see it!'
If you get into the habit of installing lighting, I'd get yourself a laser level, makes it much easier. It's crazy for a UK electrician watching how you guys wire and connect everything up, Basically twist joints etc.
Looking forward to seeing the final product on it all.
I need one.
Obsessed Garage you can borrow mine anytime!
wow no insulation at all? i know its just a garage and in florida but you'd keep so much heat out when the sun is shining on the roof
Adam is good for you. LOL. He's prepping you for when Ryan starts getting older and wants to help. I have friends like Adam who I HATE helping because they push me to the limits of my OCD and patience, but at the end of the day they're my friends and they're doing it to me on purpose and its great growth for me.
Agreed
the title should be named "The LZ Garage Dialed in"
"Larry Kosilla....another detail guy." LOL
Gonna be a dope garage
this is a dope garage from England! ua-cam.com/video/FkoVwPs15x0/v-deo.html
I'm really trying to do this in my garage. But I cant figure out what wire to use for the connection from one to another
Gimme those before you drop them. You guys are funny! :)
Ha, ha...
The best ever.... why do you want to have the green lettering show? "Because they are $12 a bulb" lmao
Looking good! I wish my garage was this legit.
Blake's Garage watching my son's channel, COOL! Watch your stuff for my WRX all the time. GREAT TO SEE YOU HERE MAN!
Ken Moreman Thanks Ken Glad you like my channel!

I know a legit garage
great video
Adam looks like he just wants it all done
we did our building over in LED and they are WAY better then the older lighting systems. 100 times cleaner lighting and way brighter.
They may be better than what you had, but this set-up is the best of fluorescent. These are still superior.
I didn't realize till i saw Adams video that they were only the strips. I personally find that the high quality LED commercial bulbs work way better then the fluorescents. We have upwards of 100 fixtures, and tried numerous different fluorescent set ups, and never got as clean or bright as the LED's we put in. Again thats just my personal opinion. Have a great thanksgiving!
You're breaking the natural order; young rubbery guys in the attic us older guys point and bark orders - lol. Adam is lucky, you gave him a good chunk of free labor.
I think this dynamic will be funny at times as we stumble through the project.
Hey Matt, Have you ever looked into Finelite LEDs? I worked there over the summer as an intern. They have high CRI, no light leak, completely made in California. They make fixtures for Facebook and Google.
Hmm... Interesting.
Haha, I love all the questions Adam is asking.
He has an uncanny ability to trip me up.
it's like a father teaching his hyperactive son
You prolly dont give a shit but if you are bored like me atm then you can watch pretty much all of the new movies on Instaflixxer. I've been streaming with my gf recently xD
@Raphael Jack Yup, I have been using Instaflixxer for months myself =)
calcs to make sure the fixtures could be added to that one circuit?
Sigh...
6 Fixtures... 6 Bulbs each... 36 bulbs @ 32W 1152W @ 120V.. 9.6A. and that assumes 100% efficient ballast. Is that circuit shared with openers and/or other outlets in garage? (in my garage, it's shared with openers).. Cutting it close @ ~10A on 15A circuit just for lights unless its completely dedicated for the lighting, which it is likely is not. They do look nice though.. :-)
Hopefully an easy fix to wire the lights up to a dedicated 15am circuit. Also, the lights should not be on the load side of the GFI.
man, those ballist are small lol, I remember back in the day of the oil filled units..
Oh lord, had to replace some at my parents store, took the center cover off and was treated to a giant black puddle. If someone is using florescent's I'm so glad that magnetic's were created.
I don't like the Earth as much as you do. hahaha. I'll tell that to my Eco-friends and they will turn red instead of "green".
Ha, ha...
Ok this is hilarious
What's the estimated date it will all be finished?
I don't know. We are just chipping away at it. Flooring next week.
first thing you need to put box connectors in each light for the wires to pass through so the sharp edges don't take a chance of cutting into the wire and burn his house down....second if your going to use drop ceiling troughers at least get the surface mount trim so they look finished...and third led's are just as bright if not brighter than florescent not to mention they are instantly bright the second you turn them on and they are easier on your eyes....sorry I'm obsessed with wiring bought as bad as you are with detailing
Brighter is not always better.
Obsessed Garage the lights company that you recommended to Larry Kosilla for his garage make high cri leds in the same size why don't you use them?
every Rich Man should mentor a Young Guy
House 991... Yeah, a 911 is definitely in Adams future ;-)
Great video but you seem to be getting a lot of static noise from your mic. I use iMovie first to reduce the background noise.
You must have missed the intro. I explained what happened.
My bad man! Just re-watched the intro..
what brand lights are they
Howard Lighting w/ Verilux Bulbs
I know it's gonna be a while but it's gonna suck when he has to replace the ballasts...
Seems pretty easy to me. Take the bulbs out and pull two screws.
Grow lights in the garage lol
Why not use LED lights? I had great luck with Utilitech Pro Strip from Lowes. You can connect up to 30 lights with a simple adapter. I have 3 rows of 4 lights, and it is great. I will never buy ballast lighting again.
LED has lower real world functional light to my eye. I've bought and tried a few of them. I've also used ballast driven T-8 replace LEDs. They just don't look as good. I think of like a well build naturally aspired engine. On paper, the NA car is inferior, but the best of analog usually beats the newest technology. At least for a little while.
Obsessed Garage from a detailers stand point I can't argue. But from a mechanics stand point I love led. If I could show you my garage it is very white and bright. Great for wrenching.
Depends on the application. We replaced only the rear of one of our stores with T8 LED and the front is still standard fluorescent T8's. It's not even a comparison between the two. The rear of the store is brighter, and the light is more natural feeling. You can't buy cheap LED fixtures and expect a great outcome. To go along with your analogy. You can put a turbo in a car and make it faster, but no matter how hard you try an ebay turbo isn't comparable to a Garrett.
LED has evolved so much in the last 3-5 years that I would say that they are superior to the older types of lighting. The only problem with the LED if you can call a problem is the insane variety of lighting, you have to know for certain what you want, and to escape that problem is always the option of a adjustable white light and RGB lighting. Of course there is a personal opinion to it as well but the LED is finally today able to get the same light as the older types of lightins, wether it's, white/yellow or blue-ish light. I'm studying light design and can give you more info on the lighting and even design up some light demonstrations for the garage that you intend on building that can 3d render and compare the lighting and see how the lighting will work in real time.
Your $2 comment is a tad off. Just for basic calculations, if the garage lights are on for an average of 2 hours a day for the entire year. Standard T8's would cost somewhere around $150 in energy costs. T8 LED's would cost around 80. So thats nearly half the cost. BTW, Common and Neutral are the same thing. 12-2 (which is what appears to be what you are using) wire is Hot, Neutral (or common) and ground.
I knew someone would catch those. I'm sure there is a whole lot more misinformation in there.
DaTwistedOne1 12-2 is typically yellow.. he is using 14-2 which is white..
Reversing the positive and negative will make a motor spin in reverse , the ground on AC is a safety thing . On DC the ground completes the circuit , in houses (AC) only some plugs are grounded . And exterior / bathroom plugs should have ground fault protected plugs , i would use exterior plugs in the garage because they have trip and reset buttons on the outlet .
I have a test you can take to improve your electrical skills...
I don't have "time" for that.
Hahahahaha Adam
Because there $12/bulb and I want to see it, lmao
Lol at 10:50
Led light bulbs fucked half the light fixtures in my house
second
first
its lost
Like a father with his annoying son :')
Adam afraid of mice and spiders but not afraid to drift his car into a wall? Wtf
Joke...
Obsessed Garage You still have a salespersons sense of humor. Lol
I'm amazzed again again that you can makewhat should be a 5 minute video last half an hour with boring boring dialog... You gotta learn to trim it down. I skipped alot through this video and didn't miss anything.
Don't get me wrong. The subject is cool. But the dialog while looking at the same thing for minutes on end while not doing anything is killing it.
Alright man. I'm not sure how to respond. You make a great point.
r34 ugly............ wtf
I think it's the taillights and the view from the 3/4 rear angle. The car looks very odd to me. Direct from the front end, I think they look cool. www.harlow-jap-autos.co.uk/RBR34GTR020.JPG
Well this stunk
Okay
Obsessed Garage I would like to retract and apologise for my previous statement, due to a bad day.
Adam asks some very stupid, obvious questions.
He is 21.
Asking questions is a great way to learn if you don't know much about what is being done.
JordanUNC21 at least he is trying to learn. He has loads of money he could have just paid someone to do it for him. I wish more people around my age were like that.
