for the "perfect position" find a dowel (or metal rod) that is as long as the eye before and after (and skinny enough to fit in them) your replacing (or longer if possible) and insert it through the 3 (good eye >> replacement >> good eye), then glue the replacement in place. That way you know the new eye aligns correctly with the ones adjacent to it. Don't trust your eyes, you only get 1 shot at getting a perfect alignment.

I love the gorilla glue xl! I had an old ugly stik that broke but didn't completely separate. I tried the gorilla glue and now I can get another 20 years out of that rod!
