- In this video, a Bucyrus Monighan 6160 walking dragline stockpiles ore at a mine in Nigeria, Africa. Bucyrus-Erie entered the walking dragline market in 1931 when it purchased a controlling interest in the Monighan Manufacturing Corp. This video was was compiled, narrated and produced by Keith Haddock for the Historical Construction Equipment Association.
Very interesting walking tour .This is a big one have seen smaller walking cranes 1 in Oregon.
If the first dragline in the video is just 6 yards, that is a waste of horsepower and purchasing expense. That dragline should handle 30 or 40 yards, conservatively. That has to be a mistake by the producers.
Dude you are talking early 1900’s era…
@@evadvalcourtI read that, 1931, in the description. After checking a little closer, on some other videos, I guess 6 to 10, or so yards, is about right for that vintage, and size. It still seems like a bit of over kill, to me, on the size of the machine, for the capacity, but live and learn. It was also a bit difficult to judge the size of this whole machine, in this video, but it appeared pretty large, to me, by the size of the walking mechanism.
Waw amazing
What an ingenious system for the day, thank you for posting ❤
