  • The End of the line for this great old Machine - now parked up , Started off at Blackwater UTAH erected around 1966 relocated to another mine in the near area around 1999 ish - one of the smaller Draglines but shifted a lot of dirt in its day and was reliable - Not sure how many 1260's are still swinging today - Enjoy the tribute to a piece of History - Cheers

These mighty machines were built in the 1960's-1970's. We couldn't BEGIN to build machines like this today. We can't even make an AM-FM radio in the U.S.
Maybe, if we're lucky, we can assemble stuff imported from overseas and put it in a box for delivery.

A BUCYRUS ERIE 1260 WAS THE FIRST DRAGLINE I OPERATED IN MY 20+ YEARS OPERATING DRAGLINES , IT HAD CABS ON BOTH SIDES SO THE OPERATOR COULD SWITCH TO EITHER SIDE ! I WORKED IN THE FLORIDA PHOSPHATE MINES IN THE U.S.A. !

2003 Was my first time to dig with the Old Girl, She had a section in the rack gear that was missing, the boys where used to swinging so far then reversing to avoid the pinions rolling out. I told Greg Limon its like Racing the Kentucky Derby with a 3 legged race horse!

Excellent video. There was a 1260 worked a mile or so from my house 1977-2004. That and a W2000, two 1150's, two 7800's a 1550 (Big Geordie), and a 757 (Ace of Spades). All part of history now. Thanks for posting.

Sad to see the old girl parked up. Leant my trade on her in the early 1970's and looked after her for four years in 2000's.
