This is handy. I've just fitted a c20xe and a type 9 into a Mx5. Came up with a similar solution. Nice work. I turned my angle bar around the other way and bolted it on the front side and rear side so it is triangulated. My bellhousing is alloy cast also. Your cast steel should be stronger. Personally I think your angle bar is going to flex. It needs bracketed to the bellhousing on the fork side or at least a bit welded into the angle bar to stop it bending
Cars never been finished. Got on the dyno and was driving well but there were a few things that needed sorting and life got in the way so it hasn’t been touched. Maybe this year will be the one I get back on it and get it driving.
@DuckSport ahh fair enough, after watching this video I went to ebay and searched clutch slave and found 1 from a kia that looked the same but with bleed nipple on top instead, possibly be better to bleed?
@@T1NY85 as long as you can get a suitable master so the ratio is right will be fine. I did make some spaces and turn this over in the end. Nice thing is you know mx5 ones will be available forever and are well known specs etc so getting matching master is easy.

Haven’t got any measurements to hand, but can say I did some rough working out at the time and decided “yeh it looks like it will work” It unfortunately still hasn’t been tested due to delays caused by covid.
@@DuckSport Currently converting Vaux Xe to Type 9 gearbox ( via an SBD adapter plate ) to hydraulic I am tight for room so may need to fit a Willwood pull cylinder
If it was going to sit flush to the bell housing I would have, in the end once plumbed in and bled it needed slightly spacing off the bell housing to get the throw distance correct anyway.
@@andrewmaniveld4139 this process should work for you. Only thing changed is I turned the cylinder so it’s other way up (bleed at top) and used some steel tube to act as spacers for the bolts to the bracket.

A nice little triangle weld in between holes will make that bracket strong as fuck and it will last forever, great work mr duck
That, is a very good idea. Made this a while ago now, before my welder was repaired, but might look at doing that in the near future.

What model is the clutch slave cylinder?
Is an mx5 one.
I resorted to a Wilwood "pull" slave cylinder to convert the Honda box to hydraulic.
I did look at those but reckoned this would work.

Hi any idea what the standard clutch throw / travel distance is on original cable ? And what the throw is on the MX5 slave ?

I would have ground those numbers off for a flat surface.
If it was going to sit flush to the bell housing I would have, in the end once plumbed in and bled it needed slightly spacing off the bell housing to get the throw distance correct anyway.
Hi there what model is the type 9 gearbox from?
The type 9 was used in lots of cars. Not sure what this particular model was the donor for this one as it’s a tran-x gearbox.

What size is that angle iron?
Good question, from memory it was 3 or 4mm thick and 30x30mm.
Will probably revisit this soon and given it a tweak as not 100% happy with it.

Not that hard to drill a hole opposite side to bleed and plug the old one.
In the end we made some spacers and swapped it over so the bleed nipple at the top. Works well though.
